There is no doubt Westbrook is strange -- maybe even nutso. So are many/most of the best players, in any given sport.

He still gets a lot of shit, but he's come a LONG way from straight gunner Russ. That triple double streak he went on last year was unprecedented in Basketball history if you take out Oscar. Definitely something we haven't seen in 'this' era. He's truly unstoppable, imo -- and I don't think he's reached his peak, either.

Nice breakdown from the Geeks over at 538:

KD just lacks that Alpha Dog/sociopath mentality. If he was psycho like Russ he'd be neck and neck w/ Lebron, IMO.

No one wants you thanking sweet mama crying to the reporters after winning the MVP. No one wants your ass playing flag football with some frat bruhs in the offseason. No one wants you being such a good teammate and easy to play with.

Have an edge and be pissed off about it all - GD. Don't be a pussy and go 0-whatever in the last crucial sequence of a closeout Game 6 with the defending champs on the rope.

Thursday Recruiting Shorts:

- Trae Young is one of my favorite kind of elite talents- one whose NBA prospects are somewhat limited. He's not big or athletic, so you probably get the kid for a couple years, a la Ulis. I think that's why his ranking is lower than one might think despite his stats and skill.

- I'm not big on 2s who have shooting issues, but if you're going to have a PG who is lights out, Diallo would be a perfect complement. He's basically Archie Goodwin.

- It's funny that Petty is thought of as a true 3 and listed all the way up to 6'7"- dude is only 6'4.5" in shoes. I love his game, though- bouncy and a good three-point shooter.

- Seems we're the frontrunner for Nick Richards and he should be another big Cal and Payne can polish up. Great body and athleticism. It's there for him to be a good post player, too.

- I would love to get Knox- maybe my favorite player in the class, but seems like a Dookie. [poop]

- Curious to see if Bagley leaps a class. We're in good shape and he may be better than all of them. So many elite bigs in this class.

We not in on Romeo Langford, or what? Kid is basically from Louisville, and flat blowing up. He's '18, right?

I know less about this upcoming class than any I can ever remember. Dunno if it's just hoops fatigue, or what.

Here's a great reason why I love Paul Daugherty so much. He's a helluva sportswriter- tough but fair, but he's also terrific outside of sports. Dude is one of my all-timers, along with Culpepper and a few others. I listen and read so many sportswriters, and I've become convinced it's the easiest job in the world. I think most any of us could do as good of job as 90% of them. But some guys really are good. Daugherty is one of the best. This piece is about he and his 30 year old son. His articles, blog posts and book about his daughter who has down syndrome will bring you to tears it's so well-written.

We're recruiting him. He's reportedly a Duke fan like everyone else. I really don't understand black kids wanting to be a part of that cake-eater program.

- Lyles' mid range is silky smooth. He will be a long time pro stretch 4. Love his game.

- My playlist was all over the place during my morning run in the park.Ray Charles, Hall & Oates, Huey Lewis, & some Outkast jams from ATLiens. Made the run that much better.

- Been listening to College Sports radio on Sirius here and there. College football talk non stop. Usually once we get to July 4th my juices start flowing for UK football... Blind love and all. Not there yet. Can't wait for the season because I worship tailgating and the spectacle event that is college football but I'm so guarded right now like everyone else towards to the program.

- Cal needs to let this team take more chances decisively so we can turn teams over with Monk, Fox and Briscoe playing the passing lanes. His teams are usually near the bottom in forcing turnovers because he believes in the philosophy of our guards funneling the other team's ball handlers into the paint bc our size/length/athleticism will force a bad shot or will block it.

My main concern is Bam getting into foul trouble bc he may be our only low post scoring threat. If we are going to go "small" with the 3 guards, Bam, & Willis, as we should bc that's our 5 best players, then Willis needs to step up his rebounding. Then again Briscoe is one of the best rebounding guards we've had in a long time.

Finished the 3 seasons of Peaky Blinders -- took me awhile, but I love it. The actors/characters are all pretty fascinating, and the soundtrack is dope AF.

Pretty tough to follow, found myself reading online recaps more than any show I can remember. All the different political movements/groups, etc, from that era can be pretty complicated for a non history ball, and sometimes the accents are a little tough in certain moments.

Great show.

Stunning loss by my minor league soccer team last night.

Nothing stunning about it. I watched it online. We dominated action but couldn't finish. Several near misses.

The defending champs scored on a nice counter attack and a penalty kick. 2-1 bad guys.

Max, our Lions are susceptible to counter attacks because of how they bring an extra player on the attack. I'm surprised they don't get burned more often.

The most glaring thing to me was how poorly attended most of these other games are. I mean Louisville City is a great team, yet the 10,000 they had for the Cincy game was the best they have ever done. FCC is bringing in 15k+ almost every game.

Rochester is the defending champs and it looked like a Beechwood vs Brossart football game, attendance wise. I really think FC Cincinnati will be in MLS if attendance stays this strong next year. Maybe we can make Louisville our minor league team for that, too.

Fan support is better than we ever hoped already. They literally can't keep their gear in stock. Every single shirt is sold out online. Nike can't make them fast enough.

Chad, have you picked which of the 5 official fan clubs you are joining yet? With your German heritage, I would suggest Die Innenstadt. http://www.dieinnenstadt.com

- F off, Willy.

- Someone give me a brief plot synopsis of this Peaky Blinders thing.

- Just finished S2 of "Bloodlines"- it was great, although it's so frustrating that I get those who hate it.

- Starting to get CFB fever. As usual, once July 4 passes, I am done with summer.

- Lass is out of town for yet another bachelorette party (this one in Savannah/HHI) so it's just me and Blue this weekend. Headed out Dad's to grill out and drink some beer with him on Saturday night, let the pup run around with their 1-year-old golden.

Should be a very good rebounding team as a whole and Willis surprisingly rebounded very, very well for his minutes. Thinking Willis will get 5 plus boards a game. I am concerned about 3 point shooting. I think we will have a pretty good shooting team mid range but its just going to be a fair 3 point shooting team.

'Bloodline', you redneck.

-Yeah, definitely done with/over summer, at least as far as the routine goes -- even though it technically just started 2 weeks ago. July/August are so overrated it's ridiculous.

Fall, ftw.

I think we will be better, but with the schedule it looks like another 5-7 year to me. 6-6 is very possible and would help this program more than we can imagine.

Wins = SMiss, N Mex St., Austin Peay

Should win = S. Carolina, Vandy

50/50 = @Mizzou

So you're saying there's a chance = Miss St., @Louisville

Glimmer of hope = @ Florida, Georgia

Nope = @Tennessee

Damien Harris rushes for 350 yds as Lane Kiffen Masturbates on the sidelines = Bama

We're going to have to score a lot of points because the defensive line is going to be an absolute joke. No one to rush the quarterback outside of Ware and not enough SEC-type bodies to stop the run.

The back seven will have its hands full. Interested to see how well that secondary holds up in coverage for 4-5 seconds with a stable pocket to pass because there sure as hell isn't going to be anyone getting to the quarterback along the front.

Think the offense could be really good. Our playmakers are finally upperclassman and the O line should be solid.

The d line and linebacker situation is really concerning.

Like BBDK noted, think we'll be better than last year but we don't have as favorable of a schedule.

NYC Randos:

-Our 2nd 4th weekend up there, no better place to spend it than America's greatest city, imo.

Much prefer NYC in the winter, but this time the weather was unreal, low 80's and no humidity for the most part.

Arrived Saturday night late, and went for a short walk. Walked by Hamilton theater, and it was a circus. Stood around for 10 minutes to see what was going on, and out walk Bill & Hillary Clinton about 20 feet from us. Seems like something like that happens on every visit.

Different trip than all of our previous ones: No fancy dinner reservations or long lists of touristy things to do...just winged it for most the weekend and relaxed and enjoyed the city. Got hammered each night and actually took advantage of the nightlife, which we're typically too tired to do after being a turbo tourist all day long -- and slept in a little.

Hit about 30 bars, and saw a random comedy show at Village Underground, which was awesome.

Also saw "Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" on Broadway, which was awesome. Probably the coolest 'set' I've seen. That's always the most fascinating part about a Broadway show to me. The engineering/design/etc that goes into those things is just unreal.

Ate a lot of food, mostly cheap eats & ethnic this time around.

Oh, and Pizza School was :fire::fire::fire::smiley::smiley::smiley:. Lasted 4 hours, but I could have spent 4 more easily. By the end, we were producing some quality NYC pies. Looking forward to playing with lots of dough in the future -- was pretty much porn for a pizza/food nerd like myself.

What a place, will absolutely never tire of visiting. #worship

Pizza School cracks me up. Was that a gift or did you have to talk Lauren into it? That's the happiest I've ever seen you besides after the win over Louisville in the F4.

Something I've wanted to do for a long time, so she said "okay, let's do it". Making pizza is simple and complicated at the same time -- never been happy with my own results at home when attempting that style, which is by far my favorite.

Was going to go solo, but then she decided to join -- she had about as much fun as I did. Cool little setup....just 4 couples slangin dough and making/tasting all kinds pizzas, and learning how to do it properly. Full bar, fun group, and the instructors were awesome.

2 of the couples there had pizza shops of their own, one in Iowa and one in Arizona -- and were just looking for extry knowledge/skills.

You could go to the beach...but you don't beach.
You could go to the lake...but you don't lake.
You could go to various MLB parks...but you aren't a pro baseball.
You could golf...but you don't have the apparel.
You could go to Cedar Point or KI...but you aren't tall enough.
You could do countless fun summer activities...but that would require a positive outlook on the season.

*76 days of summer left FTW.

Summer...enjoy.

Sounds absolutely ridiculous and an absurd way to spend time on a trip to NYC, but I'm glad you had fun.

Won't be long until Chad goes on a 'Cooking School' type date night, TS. You'll enjoy. :) (except for the fact Alex will order 2-3 glasses of their overpriced house wine)

It wasn't so much that she drank a lot of wine- I like grabbing a buzz more than anyone. It's that she acted surprised that the bill was so high after pounding wine, especially after one of her "let's try to not spend much money this weekend" suggestions on Thursday.

Thought we were all on the same team here?

You nailed it except the part where 6-6 will help this program more than we can imagine. What would help the program is if we stop looking like monkey humping a football on O,D and ST. A little coaching would help too. Mitch ponied up. It's on Mark now.

We could dry hump the goal post, tear an ACL in celebration, play eight man on ST and beat five or six of these teams. We did that the last few years.
