Guess Who Is #1 on RPI?

The RPI is a quasi-reflection of schedule and how a team performs against that schedule. Although it's so flawed it's even poor at that.

FWIW, the ONLY people who might be concerned about the RPI are bubble teams, and only then near the end of the season. And even then it's grossly overvalued.

It is perfect to stir debates on a chat board. Other than that, not much. I wish it would go away for good.

Interestingly, I have read comments from selection committtee members who have mentioned the RPI being relevant in selections and other committee members who have said that the RPI wasn't used at all. I think it largely depends on who the committee is in a given year whether or not it is used.

BTW, here is some interesting RPI trivia:

The highest rated team left out: #21 Missouri St, #30 Hofstra (2006), #30 Air Force (2007).
... among the big six: #40 Cincinnati (2006).
The lowest rated teams to get at-large bids (ALB): #67 USC, #64 Marquette (2011), #63 NC State (2005), #63 Stanford (2007).

This is the reason I'm glad I moved away from KY. Am I a huge UK fan? Yes. Can I understand many Kentuckians way of thinking? Not in the least.
