But it is too late for that. I would agree that it would look suspicious if this would have happened at the outset, but the ship has largely sailed. There was already a post-season ban and the final ruling on the NCAA case will come down soon, long before any potential prosecutions proceed criminally. If anything, this is harmful to UofL because to the extent the NCAA folks handing out the punishment were on the fence, they will certainly feel pressure to drop the hammer with news that this has turned criminal due to sex with minors.Jurich is behind this. Put the focus on her. Unless she wants to go to jail she will have to deny any of the really bad stuff happened.
Age of consent means nothing when you cross state lines to do it. The federal age consent is 18 across the board. The issue is age of consent. If either the serivcee or servicer was not of age, it can get scary.
Prostitution is still illegal, though.Maybe, but I doubt it because that would be a dangerous assumption given the implications. You can't assume that, not only because the recruits may have in fact been 18 at the time (or even older), but also because different states have different laws. In many states, 16 and 17 are fine so long as the other person is not older by several years.
Of course, but that is not what we are discussing.Prostitution is still illegal, though.
Hope to soften the PR fallout. Boys being Boys.Well that was a quick turnaround. Sounds like a dog and pony show designed to clear UL's name at the 11th hour. Probably concocted by Jurich and his buddies in the legal system. Brings to mind the shooting incident that got swept under the rug. Boss Hogg has nothing on the turtleneck.
What a joke. The book claims Blakeney hit it again the next day and can't identify her? He would have been 17 at the time, and likely the girl too.
