Saw some Kentucky account on Twitter hinting at him and maybe Kentucky would be interested, does anybody know if he good or not, I haven’t watched Wisconsin or him so I have no clue

Based on raw numbers, I like Phil Jurkovec and Drew Pine better. I also preferred Cade McNamara when he was still listed as a possibility. All of those guys had a better TD/INT ratio and completed a higher % of their passes.
In comparison, Mertz threw for 2,136 yards, 19 TD, 10 INT and completed 57.3% of his passes.
His yardage and TD numbers match those other 3 guys fairly well. But he also threw a higher number of picks and a lower completion percentage. But what I do not know is what caliber of receivers and supporting cast he had compared to those other QBs. That could be the difference.
He looks highly serviceable, pretty decent actually. I'd prefer to see a slightly better TD/INT ratio. And I'd prefer he have a 60%+ completion rate. But he doesn't look terrible. Just to compare, Will Levis had the same TD/INT numbers this season 19/10. But Levis threw for a few hundred more yards and had a much better completion percentage (65%).
If it is true that we are looking at taking two portal QB's, I'd be fine if one is Mertz. But if we can only take one, I'd honestly prefer someone with a bit better numbers to be our feature QB.

Let me give you a first hand account from Iowa as an opponent and weekly close watcher of Big 10 football:
Mertz is NOT the option you want. Honestly, I didn't grade him much over our own Spencer Petras.
Couldn't believe the total bonehead passes he threw in the game against us in November (Iowa won).
He came in highly regarded and Badger observers will tell you he steadily regressed in his career.
If he doesn't transfer, no way Fickell has him as his QB at Wisconsin in the fall.
Seriously, you guys need to aim higher than this for a QB.

I have grown to really like Kentucky. Trust me, as an Iowa/Big 10 guy, you DO NOT want Mertz if you're thinking of a bounce back season next year.
Thank you, I didn’t know anything or much at all about him, he seems like a average to below average guy, there are better options in the portal I hope Kentucky finds one
Yes, he needs to be a backup/fall back option........like a Plan D or a Plan E.
I wanted the guy you all got McNamara, if the backup from LSU transfers nussmier he would a interesting one to look at
Nussmier would be a great pickup for you guys.
I'm guessing once again there will be many outstanding QBs in the portal-- what you see in the portal now is likely not what you'll see in there eventually.
I'm not just happy with McNamara as our QB now, but shocked we could reel him in.

yea he is a solid pickup for you guys, I only watched Iowa 2-3 times but was your offensive problems more Petras being bad or the o coordinator sucking or both. And on the portal I agree tommrrow is when it will get really interesting and you will see bigger names start to enter
Pulling QB's from Michigan (people wanted McNamara), Iowa (we took Hogan) and Wisconsin (this thread) is not where UK should be living. C'mon...
Coming from an Iowa fan, Graham Mertz is not the QB to take Kentucky forward. Wisconsin, like Iowa both struggled on offense mostly because of bad QB play. Iowa also had OL problems, something that Wisconsin did not have and Mertz still struggled. So, take my opinion for what it's worth. 
Nussmier looked pretty slow to me when he ran. My two top things for our QB is decision making ability and mobility. Thanks for the heads up on Mertz.
Nussmeir has the passing potential, running might be a issue but I would still take him,

True but he was put in true passing situations yesterday and they were playing catch up, the card kid from Texas is the opposite good athlete can run and make plays out of nothing but doesn’t have the passing touch, any Qb Kentucky gets will have some minor problems, I rather have a good passer who is limited mobility wise, than a runner QB who can’t pass
Yeah, there are so many top programs that have a QB that is a great decision maker and is mobile. And can also pass the ball. Wish we knew who the best guy in the portal is for those things.

You may be correct but there is a lot of buzz that this is the guy UK coaches had been waiting to hit the portal. Idk if Coen likes him but it appears some of the UK coaches are interested

That worries me. The best programs have QB's that can run, and they do. That guy looks like he has a strong arm but he did throw an interception. Two possible red flags of being one dimensional and possibly decision making. Wish you could get by with a P Manning type, just don't see many of those types anymore. Most of them can run.
I really want Coen back. If Mertz is the guy he wants, I guess I'll have to go along with it. But the thought makes me pretty nervous to be honest. Mertz is decent. But we need better than decent if we want to compete in this league. Will Levis completed nearly 10% more of his passes this season than Mertz. And we are not at all happy about the state of our offense.
That said, and this is why I will leave the decision up to Coen, Levis numbers didn't look all that impressive either until he got here. Most of us here are pretty high on Coen, so if this is his choice, we'll just have to trust his nose for talent and hope it pays off.

He did on Twitter a little while ago, said he is one of 3 or 4 QBs the staff is interested in
I certainly have not watched Nussmeir play on TV as much as I have Mertz (who I've seen in person too), but of the two Nussmeir is absolutely the much better of the two.
Nussmier isn't in the portal and not sure he would look at UK. Mertz is the guy getting buzz from inside the program.
Again, I think many QBs are going to hit the portal and just hard for me to think there won't be any shortage of much better options than Mertz.

He was vey highly rated. I think he was considered a major signing for UW who normally don’t sign high profile QBs but since then his production is not great.

As I have stated previously in a thread, Mertz was highly regarded out of high school and even did some really good things his freshman year at Wisconsin. The issue has been he's regressed since. I've seen him play in person as well as many times on TV. He's just not any sort of difference maker and some of his QB decisions have killed his team.He was vey highly rated. Have you heard anything about the guy that just entered O’Leary from NC state I rather have him than mertz
Regarding Mertz.....lets not forget Levis was a backup at Penn State for years and Coen turned him into a great player. He knows talent
I'm going off the rivals guys and MJ. Mertz is someone they've heard for awhile. I'm sure Leary will be looked at also. Leary may come down to if he's healthy. They say he just had surgery for a torn peck on his throwing side. That could really mess you up
