Grade Leary's performance today

Leary was fine, it's the online that makes him look bad at times
Pass blocking was solid. When they bring six rushers../Qb csnt hold it. Needs to get the ball out

Leary and to be honest Coen have had a meh start to season

Considering Vandy will not win a game in SEC still hard to judge. Recievers dropped 4 balls today. He also made 5 terrible throws. He also made 5 or 6 big time throws. Must be more consistant. Our O line IS horrible
Seeing them live very disappointing. Poor e un blockers very poor footwork. Big 77 for us wouldnt hit my grandmother. I watched a Vandy guy that he had at least 30 ɛounfs on consistently drive him back off of line of scrimmage.

I like Leary and think he's good, although the interceptions have surprised me. Without the drops this season, he's probably at about a 65% completion rate. There have been a number of drops so far this year. Going forward, I hope receivers can hang onto all catchable balls and he can eliminate the occasional very poor throws and can be consistent in ball delivery.

I have not got watch the game yet.
We are at a volleyball tournament.
But reading this thread sure does not sound good.

Wasn’t it the last time Coen was here we started to click and improve around game 5?
Yeah, the LSU game, around that time frame.

C- today
I believe he gets lazy with his mechanics and sometimes over throws the ball

But then I realize he’s often in 2nd 10 and getting instant pressure because our Oline is flat horrible - not only are they terrible blockers they commit penalties at a abnormal rate.

Yesner has been god awful in every way - no way he should be a Oline Coach in the SEC
I agree with that, our line doesn’t help him at all.

That feels like every week. Disappointed to hear his performance today when we put up 42 points. His accuracy is wild, I’ve said it all year. His mid to deep throws get way off.
The throws he misses are so confusing. That first INT was a terrible throw, the second one was the lines fault. But he airmailed like 5-6 layups type throws that he should be hitting. Key& single dropped two gimmes, and he got bailed out on 2-3 throw by brown and Robinson making big plays. Florida played bad tonight to but the oline will have to be miles better than they have been and Leary can’t miss easy throws

I know I watch some of those throws and they don’t make sense. Some aren’t even close.

Not enough balls to go around on this team, problem is not with leary, coaches too worried about the feelings of players that think they aren't getting enough touches. When we have a loss or get in a tight game, then coach will be forced to get it to the true playmakers and not worry about feelings

This is behind nearly every weird decision. It isn't really a decision. It's a predetermined push to get players (usually nation) a forced ball. It completely derails our offense just like it did again today.

Devin is very very good at reading defenses

I have seen zero evidence Leary is better than a healthy Will Levis. Having said that, he throws a nice ball and has plenty of arm strength. Some head scratching decisions and accuracy issues for such a highly touted veteran. We'll find out what he's made of going forward.

People on here are wild. Y’all act like QBs don’t have bad plays or bad drives. I think people are looking over the fact that the receivers are missing very catchable throws, which hurts Leary’s confidence. I think Leary will be fine once these receivers start to get it together. We always play down to our comp, but yet we have still covered the spread in all but one game.

Lets get rowdy Saturday and roll.

Leary's passing percentage is about 59% compared to Mertz's 79%. Leary toward the bottom right now in that stat and Mertz toward the top. But like I have pointed out, Napier is protecting Mertz with a lot of short easy throws. He only has one interception also. But Leary has thrown deeper and has had several drops from his receivers. Leary needs to cut down on interception and also needs his receivers to catch the ball. And of course, our OL needs to keep improving in their pass blocking.

Leary has looked pretty good to me so far. What doesn't look good is the O line and the receivers. They make him look worse.

He is still getting comfortable. He throws dimes in key times. Just let the season play out. Will was far from impressive to start the season in first year under Coen.

At least some of his off throws are due to miscommunication with the receiver. He misses some throws for sure but is on the money the vast majority of the time.

I still think its mental. He has made insane plays when its just spur of the moment. When he has to think about it he's missing throws. I think it's 100% getting over the injury.
