I mean, what he said is pretty obvious to everyone, with the exception of Louisville fans and fans of the program/Pitino (such as some in the media). Can you seriously imagine if all of this stuff, including the past indiscretions, had happened to ANY other coach, especially to someone like Cal, what would have happened? Cal would not only be kicked out of Kentucky; he would be lucky to make it out alive. And the media would have destroyed him non-stop. But with Pitino for whatever reason, he manages to not only hang on, but to keep the support of the fanbase. It is embarrassing really.

I didn't think it was that savage, thought it was pretty clear eyed. Pitino is trying to play the victim here. Either he knew about it, or he didn't when it's his job to know, so he's incompetent. Combined with the lovely sex on a restaurant table caper, and he shouldn't be the head coach.

I'm not hating on the transfers, I just have no sympathy. They weren't loyal to their schools and UL wasn't loyal to them, a little research and they would have seen the character of the people they were dealing with.
There's a lot wrong with the NCAA, but you can't just chalk the system becaus a few guys who are grab students get caught in the flush. They went to Lousville knowin full well there was an NCAA investigation and it could be a problem. I'm sorry. It's called consequences.

As the old saying goes "it takes one to know one." Gottlieb has no moral authority to comment on Pitino. Despite that he was spot on and did state rather succinctly what many are thinking about the UL situation. Too bad the AD and President weren't mentioned as well. Gott. is still an a**hole.
Meh, there's wasn't an investigation when they got there..the story didn't even break until school had started. I'm just saying your reasoning would be like me saying every Penn state football player deserves to burn...they didn't partake in that nonsense...do they deserve the consequences? I just don't get bent out of shape over people's lives that dont affect mine. In other words I think it sucks for them but I'm not losing sleep over it. I'm not getting completely elevated over it either way and pundits my fist that it has to be one way. If it upsets you me saying that or your determined it absolutely has to be that way or God should bring thunder and hail..go for it.

I hate gotlieb but I couldn't help but wish more people had his attitude. Pitino absolutely knew what he was doing when he played the sympathy card. This meme has been making the rounds. This is how bad it has gotten. Realize you are playing into Pitino's hands with this crap. Sad.
I'm definitely not a fan of Gottlieb but what he said was spot on. And I find it hard to believe a control freak like Pitino had no idea these parties were going on. One or two maybe but four years of it going on there's no way he didn't know. And at most schools he would've been shown the door for the Sypher scandal. But at a cesspool that is UofL he got a raise instead.
Stephen A. Smith said the 5th year seniors were absolutely positively innocent in all this. We don't know that they were innocent in this. We don't know what the NCAA knew and told Ramsey, he could have been told things like this was still going on. Louisville desperately needed the addition of the 5th year seniors so with everything that was going on there is a possibility that both or one of them had some hooker action. I fail to see how he can say absolutely positively that they are innocent, all the facts aren't out yet. I'll form my opinion after the facts come out.
I hope UL and Pitino make a little racket about UNC,the school probably can't go there but Rick is likely to come off with something when we least expect it
I personally think that 1 or 2 years is too long. I could go with 2 months. Pitino coaches these boys and he is around them every day he was bound to hear something.
