Goodwin falls from #17 to #158 on On3

A lot of whores in the biz vacationing with certain schools' alums... blue water fishing off Bimini, golf on PGA courses, escorts on South Beach, Thomasville quail camps, etc.. I'm convinced it is happening all the time. I scratch your back, you scratch mine.

Alabama OT Elijah Pritchett who got absolutely abused backing up Goodwin in the All American Bowl is ranked 43. 🤣
I have seen this said twice now. I didn't watch the AA game. Gormley said Pritchett was impressive and the beat OT in the class. I didn't watch but funny the drastic difference in takes

I knew this new recruiting site was dogshit from the beginning and to the people who say they don't adjust recruiting rankings based on the school the recruit goes too. This should help you open your eyes.

In the first place, I have never found On3 credible or interesting. This is one more little data point to show why. It's another click bait headline. This is what you get for taking KSR seriously. Why waste your time?

Besides that, look at Goodwin's and Brown's offer sheets. They are premium offer sheets. When you are getting players who turned down Bama and most of the SEC, nothing to worry about.

I think we can trust our coaching staff. They have earned it.

This and the drop in Barion Brown's ranking is sick. Whoever is responsible for this is stupid or has ulterior motives. GO CATS11

It’s because they struggled so much in the practices leading up to the all-American game…you know the practice that most of those 140 players Goodwin dropped under were not invited to 😉

Plus, Goodwin struggled so much during the season that I’m sure it’s just that the film for those other players just became so much better. Oh wait, I don’t remember hearing from anyone that Goodwin has struggled any whatsoever (unless he did during the all-American practices or game I missed it)

Also, prior to the injury, IIRC Brown was really impressing during the practices against the top level competition in the country, so it makes sense to drop him. 😳

It is ridiculous that this happens every year to at least a couple of the Cats highest rated recruits. The good news that it continues to make the coaching staff look even better from a scouting & development standpoint…”why is Stoops winning so much with such bad recruits unless he can really spot under the radar talent and develop it???”

That’s alright Goodwin will be a badass lineman I don’t give a crap about rankings. I know he will be part of the big blue wall that will keep Levis upright and will open up big holes for our RB’s to gain some nice yardage!

Just know that I have heard Stoops talk about how well Goodwin moves for a 6-8 350 pounder and his former coach commenting on how he runs like a camara. Stoops said it is really not a normal thing seeing a guy that big be that athletic. How do you drop a guy you probably haven't even see play a game? Bad look for a recruiting service to obviously rank on where they go. Lazy and irresponsible to publish something that shallow.

Wow.

Statements that the Bama signee struggled at the AA game (is that from Marrow) are countered by this guy (Gorney) from On3:

“The Alabama signee was excellent at the All-American Bowl where he dominated with his feet, strong hands and his versatility. When his team was loaded with offensive tackles, Pritchett volunteered to move inside and play guard so he could get reps there.”

Makes me wish I could watch it, as the contrast in analysis is so stricking.

@The-Hack - you can…now I just expect an in-depth analysis 😉

Everything about Pritchett is based on his potential, not what he has done thus far. Recruits move up and down and Rivals explanation is always others guys move up and they aren't dropping anyone. But same guys move up every year, some by 150 spots, and signing with Bama seems to be the biggest improvement. I get it, Bama has been dominant the last 12 years, so they are obviously signing good players, but everyone they sign moves up?

Same guy created this site and 247. He sold them both. Only way to create an audience is to cater to the “blue blood” football schools. If you look at the rankings, most of the players committed to Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Florida, Notre Damn, Ohio State, Georgia… etc moved way up in the rankings. It’s new so he’s trying to draw attention to it.

And you didn’t think they was going to let us have a top 10 class did you! I mean you have to move our players down so we fall in those rankings lol

I'm not sure where they are getting the people who writes on KSR these days. It sounds like they went down to the local middle school career day and asked a bunch of 12 year old's if they would like to write for KSR. The analysis is absurd and that is saying a lot for KSR. Of course Nick Roush has always been bad. His opinions are nothing earth shattering and his grammar, for someone making a living as a sports journalist, is atrocious.

It's all about money. If you've ever been to any of the top fanbase sites, you know they have 10x the number of commenters/paying customers, so that's the bone they feed them with. As our football fanbase matures and the football articles start getting clicks that rival those schools, then we will get the same treatment. Until then, we just have to bend over and find our happy place.

Human psychology is fascinating. Why does anyone care what an obscure website says about our class? Why does it rile some fans so much? When will these fans understand that we are winning on the field and the recruiting trail? It is right there in front of us. As our program gets better, we are more of a threat to the SEC upper echelon. All this stuff is bait for the gullible.

Example #1 why recruiting rankings are usually the biggest hoax out there.

Iowa has RARELY had a Top 25 recruiting class yet has had big success for many years now and has the 6th most players in the NFL currently.

Rankings grossly overrated.

I think it bothers many people b/c perception of where the program is helps in recruiting. If the media downplays the quality of the talent in the program, there is concern that it makes it harder to recruit upper echelon players who are needed to get to the upper echelon.

Stoops & Co. have consistently shown the ability to scout and develop talent to play above their ranking, so I think it is less of a concern. With more 9-10 win seasons, recruits will only know that UK as a "used to be" non-football program or "basketball school" ... but under Stoops is a legitimately solid football program.

Why should I give a rats ass what On3 says about anything? The quality of recruits doesn't change because some pandering nimrod wants to play games with rankings.

One thing I failed to mention in my post above, but I think the biggest reason our fans get irritated is the hypocrisy of it all. The sites state there are legit reasons, but a couple of years ago, one (or more) of the UK commits dropped big-time here on Rivals, and the reason given by the Rivals team was obviously bogus.

If you defend your decisions as legit and truthful when they obviously are not, people see through it and get irritated by it. That whole scenario was when I finally saw the football rankings as flawed as they are. Now, I follow them, but I expect at a least several kids in the UK class to get dropped significantly in the final rankings...it is what it is.

My thing with recruiting sites is what makes these "experts" experts(there are posters on this site whose opinion I value but their info has proven to be accurate over the years)? What is it about a player that keeps him ONE TENTH OF A POINT from 3* or 4* status? What criteria is used? I suspect many of these "experts" were cut from their middle school football team and are no more of an expert than I am and believe me, I'm far from being an expert on anything. I really wish UK would ban them from campus.

There are hundreds of prospects these "experts" are evaluating so there's no way that 90% of them are getting any more than a few minutes of their evaluation time. They rely on this guy or that guy's thoughts and those thoughts could easily be flawed or biased.

And you're right. Many of these "experts" never played the game before or ever coached....seriously, what really are they looking for in these prospects? Do they even know what to look for?

All-American game
Pressure!!

Just watched the first half.

If you watch even half-ass, you have to be blown away by Goodwin’s size. He towers over the All-Americans.

Goodwin started at left tackle, and has better footwork than I would have thought for his size. The announcers credited an edge rusher he was blocking with a pressue in the first Q, but Goodwin had shoved him to the very back of the pocket, so I disagree.

I don’t think Goodwin’s man was credited with a tackle in the first half.

No. 72 played in the second Q at left tackle for the East and immediately gave up a QB pressure, but Gunner Stockton, a QB headed to UGA did 4 cuts for a ten yard gain. Later in the same drive 72 gave up a sack, barely getting a hand on the edge rusher before he clobbered Stockton. So then the East just had Stockton run it up the gut for a long TD.

The Bama Pritchett player is on the West team , I think, and I thought from Jmalone’s post, or comment he subbed for Goodwin. But 72 was someone else, and he and No. 77 (left guard) were weak on that left side.

Gunner Stockton, headed to UGA is a star in the making.

Several times when the edge rusher went at Goodwin, they just gave up when he blocked their path, and tried to get in a passing lane instead of trying to go around or through him.

Obviously, a man who is 6’ 8” or 6’ 9” sets a base that is ridiculously wide, and hard to get around.
