Gold Standard to the Outhouse

Cal did us a favor by not having to fire him.

This really can't be ignored. As much as the last 5 or so seasons disappointed, and as much sht as he slung at the fans, he could've made this all a lot worse for UK.

THIS is the best thing he's done for us in that 5 years all the way back to 2019. It's too bad that it had to be this long in coming, but he did better by us than he could have, and I'm very grateful for the gesture.

He actually looked in the mirror and realized he couldn't do what was necessary and required HERE. That takes some cahones on its own, just to admit that. I didn't think he could do it, and called him out on it, but he DID DO IT.

I don’t see Arkansas as an outhouse in the least. Much respect for who they’ve been over time, from Nolan Richardson all the way to Qualls dunking the last second dunk. It is definitely a different animal here at UK, and most of us view a handful of programs as elite and then there are the rest, which isn’t an insult. It’s just not a move you expect from a HOF coach, although he’s been anything but the last several years. I wish Cal and AR decent success, just not at the expense of our program.
I’m very aware of how we are viewed here and that’s cool, I wouldn’t expect anything less to be fair. I didn’t come to be that guy. I just love basketball and Im always interested in others peoples opinion, you can learn a lot from other people. Its all good on my end.

Nah. More like he realized how much he’ll he was going to get next year and knew he couldn’t do anything on the court to circumvent it.

He looks embarrased beyond belief as he knows all eyes are on his demise. Imagine the ego he has and having to go from Lexington to Fayetteville and put on a red jacket. lmao

At first I thought he’d be bad but the fact that Arky is promising him $5 million PLUS in NIL every single year could be worrisome. Yes he’s a trash coach but they could easily be as successful as we were from 2010-2015 sans maybe a title. If he still reels in top classes and has a few extra million to offer transfer portal guys? Sheesh

I’ve wanted Cal gone for years And I blame cal for being a slack jaw and pissing off our doners thus draining our NIL.

It will suck majorly tho to see Arkansas go to EE’s and FF’s his last 5 years coaching.

The only thing interesting to see going forward will be if this "players first" coach will "sell out" to the short term to save his reputation before he retires. 5M per year between 3-5 NBA bound players isn't really that much, and certainly not enough to keep a lottery pick from jumping to the pros, instead of risking an injury or their stock dropping from sitting on the bench while the next diaper dandy gets 30min a game regardless.

He would have to AC T IVELY TrY to sell players on staying for less money than they'd get if they leave for the NBA. This doesn't even address the violations of NIL restrictions that will be necessary to get these guys on campus (with which of course Cal won't be getting his hands dirty).

If they put up 7-10M per year, though, no one will need to be selling recruits on signing in Fayetteville. They'll be lining up to do so once it's know what they're laying down. Still have to win with them, and they'll still have the same struggles filling out a roster greater than 10 deep with anything more than 8 sitting the bench most of the year.
