He looks miserable, Cal never thought he would be in Fayetteville to end his career.
He looks embarrased beyond belief as he knows all eyes are on his demise. Imagine the ego he has and having to go from Lexington to Fayetteville and put on a red jacket. lmao
This is gonna sound like a slap at Arkansas, but this is definitely a step down for Calipari. It is an admission of failure. Arkansas is a good program, don't get me wrong, but Cal went from a blue blood to just a good program. He failed. I know he hates that, if for no other reason than because it is a huge punch in the gut to his pride. So, yeah, he would rather not be there, but this is where he is, by his own hand.

If he can’t recreate the magic quickly, he will hang it up and go into broadcasting or straight up retire. If he gets his fastball back and starts having fun again, I could see him completing his current contract that could extend to 2031.
But they do want him there, so thats good. We'll see if he's really up to the task.
If next year isn’t great I could definitely see it especially if the arky fanbase turns on him quickly. I wish him no ill will but he had it all here and his arrogance got the best of him and the program suffered as a result. If he fails miserably at Arkansas I’ll be honest, I’d get a little enjoyment from that due to his condescending attitude with our base.

I am fan of another SEC team, but find much of the Gold Standard to the Outhouse "joy" strange.

First, it was clear that Cal needed to go. No ifs, ands, or buts. Having said that, he has a chance to reset at a place that is glad to have him. If he goes there as the same old Cal with his same old business model, then he will get the same results (probably not as good as his last 5 years here). However, if this kick in the pants lights a fire, and if he gets off his high horse, then he could achieve some success. We will see. I am hoping for the latter but am expecting the former.

Cal is going to have an incredible amount of NIL money at his disposal. But what they still don’t understand is he has pissed away year after year of incredible talent. His issues go way beyond NIL and additional money to throw around won’t help him become a better bench coach.

Does most Arkansas fans consider it a successful season if they win 20 and make the tournament? If so they will be fine with Cal likely.

I don’t see Arkansas as an outhouse in the least. Much respect for who they’ve been over time, from Nolan Richardson all the way to Qualls dunking the last second dunk. It is definitely a different animal here at UK, and most of us view a handful of programs as elite and then there are the rest, which isn’t an insult. It’s just not a move you expect from a HOF coach, although he’s been anything but the last several years. I wish Cal and AR decent success, just not at the expense of our program.
