Global Climate Changes

This video reminds me of this thread (except for the Neptune angle):

Love how she brings up China's benefit from the "renewable" being they're manufacturing the components for these items using coal fired power plants.

She could've take it a step further and pointed out all the catastrophic mining activities in 3rd world countries (and the human rights issues related there to) where just so happens years ago china bought, for nearly nothing, the rights to these deposits at various locations around the world.

Wonder what is the environmental impact of those mining activities?

We seriously do not care about modern day slavery. We can claim to, but our actions and money scream otherwise.

EVs are badazz on the road. Nothing can touch their get off and convenience of not going to a filling station. Only downside is long distance travel over 300 miles. That’s when we take the gas powered suv.

I actually like some of the stuff that guy has to say. It's hilarious about the carbon calculator. BP tricked you lefties into trying to figure out your carbon footprint like that's going to make a difference in the world. And many of you bought it hook, line and sinker.

My thoughts on Ethical Skeptic is that he's full of shit. And I was hoping he wasn't during all of COVID. But he's super full of shit.

Depends on the context of their content. Imo the data observations are incredible. The working hypotheses about correlation or causation at times are a major stretch. That's most times communicated somewhere in the post or thread.

The relevant question is whether or not the sea surface is actually rising in temperature? If yes, then is it coming from above or below? Iirc they posit it's from below

Who cares where it comes from? You want to lose global hegemony to save the earth? The loss of that will wreck the world also. You want china and India to run the world? I don’t.

EVs in the long run will ultimately be more harmful to the environment than any Corvette or whatever you want to say is bad.

“I HATE SLAVERY AND I HATE FOSSIL FUELS!!!!”

**goes and buys an EV made from slave labor and a system that destroys the land it came from forever, then texts his bestie on his iPhone made by slave labor from his feel good EV.**

We could literally ban internal combustion vehicles here in the US and without India and China doing the same, the effect on carbon in the atmosphere would be negligible.
So, hold up your hand if you think ANY nation in the developing world...including India, China, etc. would voluntarily take such drastic measures. China is well on its way to replacing the US as the world's biggest economy, opening a new coal-fired power plant every few days. And we are to believe that they would suddenly halt their long range plans for world domination, just to satisfy a bunch of radical liberal UN-WHO types?
Hardly.

There are signs all over the place that climate change alarmism is a grift. You don’t even have to look very hard to find them. Just a few...

1) Countries like Norway are “going green” with their homegrown energy production and EV mandates...but they still drill and export a huge carbon footprint. Yet they are consistently in the top 5 ESG scores for countries. Why are their exports not factored into that score if humans are killing the planet with carbon output?

2) The WEF meeting each year in Davos...where they set the tone for the climate alarmists worldwide...has an awful carbon footprint. 2022’s meeting had a carbon output from private jet usage 4 times that of a normal week or the equivalent of 350,000 gas powered cars over the same span. The carbon footprint for that meeting has gone up exponentially each and every year of its existence. Why would they do that year in and year out if the world was in such dire straights with regard to carbon footprint?

3) 80% of the world’s population has never even flown on a plane of any kind...ever. Yet the climate alarmists jetset around the world on private jets on the reg...knowing that a person flying on a private jet emits anywhere from 10-20 times more carbon pollution than a person flying commercial. Hello, Mr. Inconvenient Truth! Hello, Mr. US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate!

4) ESG investment companies like Blackrock are pissing off both sides of the climate argument. The climate alarmists are pissed off because of “greenwashing” which BlackRock has been found guilty of on multiple occasions. That’s where they are able to charge larger fees on investment transactions because the portfolio is supposedly all ESG approved companies...but they sneak in a few that aren’t. Which is shady as hell. On the other side of the coin...BlackRock infiltrates company board rooms in America like they did with Chevron to make them more “environmentally friendly” while at the same time investing in Chevron’s Chinese competitors who have the worst climate footprint on the planet. Which is even shadier.

Wake up, man. It’s all a grift.

This 2023 June was the warmest June globally at just over 0.5°C above the 1991-2020 average exceeding June 2019 – the previous record – by a substantial margin

Thank god we have the media and big tech to balance out evil big oil and keep all things energy on the straight and narrow for us plebes.
Yeah, Salon is the end all be all rag for unbiased yet unchallengeable (liberal mindset) information.

Anyone can make a graph, thanks to the news & Twitter I can’t even believe a graph anymore.
Information refuting disinformation is information that is also disinformation. Rather non informative although informative enough for us to realize the information is not really informative enough to make a good believable point.

The only thing circular about it is that your head spins in circles trying to understand the truth. You are so brainwashed that your head is in a loop of wash, rinse, and repeat of the same information that gets debunked yet...
What is being debunked?

I’d go with EVERY SINGLE FEAR-MONGERING PREDICTION of oceans boiling away, ice caps being gone and coastal cities under 40’ of water, etc since at least An Inconvenient Truth. Besides that, idk.
So, are you one that denies global warming completely or do you think we are warming and there is nothing we can do about it?

- 66 percent of people in this country believe climate change is real

-99 percent of scientists

So you go on a diet for a while, then go order a batch of Big Mac's. Got it.
It’s the best I can do at this point.

Although the point of that post was to say that driving an Electric car is fun as hell. Kind of like switching from a persimmon to a big Bertha. Performance is just better

A majority of Americans support the U.S. becoming carbon neutral by 2050. Nearly seven-in-ten Americans (69%) favor the U.S. taking steps to become carbon neutral by 2050. The same share of Americans (69%) say the U.S. should prioritize developing renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, over expanding the production of oil, coal and natural gas. Carbon neutrality means releasing no more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than is removed.

A chart that shows about seven-in-ten Americans prioritize alternative energy development and carbon neutrality.
Nine-in-ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents support the U.S. taking steps to become carbon neutral by 2050. Among Republicans and Republican leaners, 44% support this goal and 53% oppose it. But there are important differences by age within the GOP: Two-thirds of Republicans under age 30 (67%) favor the U.S. taking steps to become carbon neutral, but about the same share of Republicans ages 65 and older (64%) oppose this.

Climate experts say it’s necessary to significantly reduce carbon emissions in order to slow the pace of climate change. Energy production and transportation are two high-emission sectors where efforts are being made to reduce emissions.

Americans are reluctant to phase out fossil fuels altogether, but younger adults are more open to it. Americans are wary of relying exclusively on renewable energy sources. About three-in-ten (31%) say the U.S. should completely phase out oil, coal and natural gas. More than twice as many (67%) say the country should use a mix of energy sources, including fossil fuels and renewables.

A chart showing that younger U.S. adults are more open than older adults to phasing out fossil fuels completely.

It was ignorant before, but if you lived through Covid, and still base your entire world view on what “experts” say, and the “consensus” formed by “scientists” who are solely dependent on grants of money from interested parties, and refuse to look at actual data and manipulation that has occurred, you are beyond any hope.

If you base your conclusions on surveys of what Americans feel, you are even dumber.

Hopefully the Covid grift set the global warming grift back a few decades.

If you are so gullible you listen to “elite” assholes flying their private jets around the world advocating for the US to tank its economy, while ignoring the damage China and India cause (if you accept their arguments of harm at face value), and think they actually give a shit about the environment or future, again, there is no hope for you.

All knowing Bill, enlighten all of us. What should we do??

Why is it all or nothing?

We, or Merica aren’t the only ones cutting back emissions. Australia, China, Egypt, Korea, Europe, Canada, and India are all taking steps and investing billions into renewable energy

What if everyone does 20 percent more to clean the air?

Do you prefer breathing diesel fumes to clean air?

If you were at fatass. Say 400 pounds, you could fast for 40 days, under doctors care and take up a clean diet and hire a trainer. Or you could, cut out one meal a day and add 10 minutes of exercise per day and improve slowly

Most humans and scientists believe, but you unequivocally do not believe that man is directly causing climate change.
