If he’s one of the ten best players I think he will be in the rotation. If he isn’t, he won’t be. I think we can trust Pope to play the best playersWhy not?

Because he moves like a baby giraffe and will be playing against grown ass men.Why not?
I think Moreno is going to get some run early in the season as they bring Quaintance along slowly after his surgery.Have to find Moreno minutes from somewhere.
I think he’s definitely one the 10 best, imo.If he’s one of the ten best players I think he will be in the rotation. If he isn’t, he won’t be. I think we can trust Pope to play the best players
I thought he done well at the McDonald’s All American game and the scrimmage as well.Because he moves like a baby giraffe and will be playing against grown ass men.
This post right here tells me you're just being a trolling asshat. This is with Oweh not returning correct since he technically is still in the draft?
Then obviously you have already found 15 teams that will be better offensively. Who are they? And even with Oweh there is about a 5% chance that UK has a top 15 offense according to KenPom by the end of March Madness. Pope would have to completely change the offense from shooting a lot of threes to shooting just some threes.
Wouldn’t surprise me, it seems like Pope wants him to beef up to be a small ball 4 though.Noah will be the surprise of the 2025-26 season.
I doubt JQ plays before conference play. Moreno will get a lot of chances the first couple monthsWhy?
Best 3 point shooter will play a lotI think a guy that's not going to get a ton of run, that may surprise a few folks, is Kam. After seeing the rest of the haul, I wonder if he has the overall athleticism and toughness to carve out a lot of min. But, Pope probably sees him as a Jaxson clone and will know ways to get him looks.
Can’t expect anyone to be back a second year. Every season is a one year lease. He could potentially come back. But I wouldn’t expect itI think Moreno is going to get some run early in the season as they bring Quaintance along slowly after his surgery.
With Garrison and Moreno, the staff can afford to let Quaintance get 100% back and not have to rush it.
They can slowly work JQ into the mix with two other big bodies to throw out there. Plus Jelavic can play some at the 5 as well, if push comes to shove.
And it gives Moreno some experience as a Freshman, which will help when he becomes a full time rotation player as a Sophomore.
Nice!Found a really nice graphic on the roster and its versatility.
Your roster projections are must-see tv. Many thanks. My main rotation projections at the moment (with estimated mpg):
G Lowe(25)/Johnson(15)
G Aberdeen(25)/Chandler(15)
G Oweh(27)/Williams(13)
F Dioubate(22)/Jelavic(14)/Garrison(4)
F Quaintance(22)/Garrison(18)
Oweh- 27
Lowe- 25
Aberdeen- 24
Garrison- 22
Dioubate- 22
Quaintance- 22
Chandler- 15
Johnson- 15
Jelavic- 14
Williams- 13
This is obviously with Quaintance 100% healthy.
Backcourt is locked, as long as Oweh comes back. Lowe, Aberdeen, and Oweh start together with Johnson, Chandler, and Williams off the bench.
I am back and forth on who starts at the 4 and 5. Could be a big lineup (BG/JQ), could be a defensive lineup (MD/JQ), or could be a veteran lineup (MD/BG). Two of those three will start at the 4 and 5, and all three will get starter minutes (20+ mpg).
Exactly. That's why I put them on ignore earlier today. This post right here tells me you're just being a trolling asshat.
I may be wrong, I usually am, but I think folks will be suprised at how not ready Moreno is for college basketball. Especially the SEC.Have to find Moreno minutes from somewhere.
This is why it was important to get BG back and bring in JQ. Hopefully by January JQ will be healthy and a major contributor. Moreno is going to help us in the OOC and as a Sophomore, but he is not likely to ready for prime time SEC post play as a Freshman. The SEC is a grown man’s league, especially down low.I may be wrong, I usually am, but I think folks will be suprised at how not ready Moreno is for college basketball. Especially the SEC.
I could see that. Do you think Pope will be able to recruit High School players going forward or will he just dip into the portal?I gave my projected lineups but this is the lineup I really HOPE to see:
pg - J. Lowe (22)
sg - C. Chandler (20)
sf - O. Oweh (24)
pf - B. Garrison (22)
c - J. Quaintance (22)
6th - D. Aberdeen (20)
7th - J. Johnson (18)
8th - K. Williams (18)
9th - M. Dioubate (18)
10th - A. Jelavic (16)
Reserve - M. Moreno
Reserve - T. Noah
Reserve - T. Perry
I think he will have a mix of both. I expect we will try to grab a OAD per year.I could see that. Do you think Pope will be able to recruit High School players going forward or will he just dip into the portal?
Wanna bet a Rupp Rafters $20 that JQ is ready by the first exhibition game? I’ll give you 3/1 odds too!😂Lowe, aberdeen, oweh, diobate, garrisson are the starters
- Jasper is the sixth man
- Williams and Chandler play 10-20 min per game
- JQ and and jelavic play good mins as well, but eventually JQ overtakes BG as starter
Why does this continue to get talked about? Guaranteed FIRST round...he's not even mentioned as a SECOND rounder. It just absolutely baffles me this still gets talked about. He ranks 80ish on almost every single draft board. He ranks 20ish amongst shooting guards. There are 60 picks. He's not getting drafted. He's not staying in the draft. He'll be lucky to get drafted in 2026.I just don’t see Oweh becoming a guaranteed first round pick so I have him coming back unless something majorly changes.
I agree. He has a major uphill battle given his deficiencies. I think some fans think if a player is good in college that means they are getting drafted. It’s just a lot more complex than that. Why does this continue to get talked about? Guaranteed FIRST round...he's not even mentioned as a SECOND rounder. For sure. Plus, it'd be an amazingly bad business decision for him not to return as well. Maybe it's post-Cal PTSD, but guys like this never really left early under Cal either. I mean, unless he goes straight to Turkey or somewhere, UK is the only place he can play next year. I guess he could play in the G for $50K.I agree. If he wants to be an NBA player, he needs to add some playmaking skills and become an elite defender. I would add that he needs to fix the shot but that would be a challengeFor sure. That’s a nice visual demonstration of our versatility. We have lots of guys capable of playing at multiple spots.Found a really nice graphic on the roster and its versatility.
I think Lowe is a 1 position guy too. That’s a nice visual demonstration of our versatility. We have lots of guys capable of playing at multiple spots.
I believe Moreno is the only true “just one position” player on this roster.
Williams will get minutes because of his height and ability to shoot the 3. There are going to be some games we need him to use as a mismatch. Chandler in in the same territory. They will both get 15-20 min a game. Chandler imo could push for the starting spot. Right now i think it’s JJs. Aberdeen is the 6th man because he is coming in primarily to play pg. I feel like he and Lowe will split minutes evenly. And it’s impossible for there never to be injuries or guys rested to prevent injury. It’s hard to predict a lineup because it could be different every game the way pope coaches. Cal, tubby they were so narrow minded to rarely change up starters. I know we had injuries but pope is always looking for an edge, he’s never satisfied.Williams is a tough one to predict.
His stats look really goood and he is actually ranked higher by 247 and On3 than Aberdeen and 247 actually has him above Dioubate as well.
But he played lesser competition than those other guys we brought in, so it’s hard to judge.
I see him getting around 15 minutes a game next season. On par with Chandler, Johnson, and Jelavic.
I only see our top six (Oweh, Aberdeen, Garrison, Lowe, Dioubate, and Quaintance- once healthy) getting 20+ minutes. Those other four are fighting for double digit minutes. They are all talented guys, but inexperienced at the college level.
Coaches aren’t being narrow minded when they don’t frequently change the starters, though. That plays into minutes continuity, which is an important factor. If we had been healthy last year, I bet we would have had the same starting lineup all year.Williams will get minutes because of his height and ability to shoot the 3. Pope is trying to injury proof the team and get guys plenty of rest so we re fresh going into March next year.Found a really nice graphic on the roster and its versatility.
100000% this ^^^For me, I don't even want to try to guess until I know if Oweh will be back and how healthy JQ gets. Those two variables will have a huge impact.
Lowe probably will only play the 1 next season …because that’s the only place we’ll need him with this roster construction.I think Lowe is a 1 position guy too.
It’s a fixed mindset vs playing the matchups. Continuity comes on creating a dynamic team that can adjust to any situation. There are guys who always start like an Oweh or a Lowe but changing up the 2g based on matchup or the 4 based on matchup is no problem. I’m not going to get into the combinations and reasons but it’s important in cbb to start well not who starts. With this team and that graphic for instance showing the overlap at each spot we can go power with tough defense or we can light it up and run. With this depth and the relative closeness in talent well it’s all about the matchups presented by the opponentCoaches aren’t being narrow minded when they don’t frequently change the starters, though. I agree it’s good to have a dynamic roster, but that’s not the same as continuity. The continuity is from playing your players together enough to build increased chemistry and cohesion. Even with a dynamic roster, the best coaches aren’t going to keep shuffling their starting lineups. That’s all I’m saying. It’s a fixed mindset vs playing the matchups.
