Florida coach Todd Golden, fresh off a national title, has agreed to a six-year, $40.5 million contract extension through the 2030-31 season.

Once again I'll repeat this sermon so here it goes . . . Every AD in the country gets caught up in the moment and does this every time with big out of the box contracts. In the moment everything looks rosies and sunshine forever so what can go wrong. The coach always looks like the newest genius in the sport that has something nobody else does and on and on. Then 2 or 3 years later the honeymoon ends and the shine wears off and you've got a long term contract to deal with.

Sure there is the one in a hundred cases where the new hot shot is real long lasting deal (but its about 1 in a hundred.

Florida lost Aberdeen (reportedly) due to not being able to keep up with Kentucky's NIL offer. Highly unlikely they'd drop anything close to 7 mil.

I doubt anyone is paying Fland $7 million, but I'm sure they're willing to pay him more than Aberdeen. Fland is the better player.

Lets get some perspective. People understand golden is paid about the same as Pope, right? Who accomplished more?

Dont get me wrong, i love pope. However lets not start casting stones when a National title winner gets a contract barely richer than what we paid a guy that never won an ncaa game.

Ironically, I don't think Golden had won an NCAAT game before this year either. Gators got knocked out 1st round last year and didn't make it the year before.
