Exactly this. Was coming to post the same.The whole thing could been avoided if Garrison had dove for the loose ball since he was closest to it, but instead the Card player beat him to the ball and dove on it first because Garrison was slow to react. He tried to make up for it afterwards but that lack of hustle on his part could have cost us the game. The game was in reach for the Cards at the time. At least that’s how I saw it.
He was running in slow motion for the ball. He tried to bend down to pick it up. The Louisville player wanted it more. He dove on it. Garrison didn't.
None of this happens if Garrison dives on the ball. I'm sure Pope will use this as a teaching point. The ball is the most important thing. The ball is ALWAYS worth diving for.
