Garrison incident

The whole thing could been avoided if Garrison had dove for the loose ball since he was closest to it, but instead the Card player beat him to the ball and dove on it first because Garrison was slow to react. He tried to make up for it afterwards but that lack of hustle on his part could have cost us the game. The game was in reach for the Cards at the time. At least that’s how I saw it.
Exactly this. Was coming to post the same.

He was running in slow motion for the ball. He tried to bend down to pick it up. The Louisville player wanted it more. He dove on it. Garrison didn't.

None of this happens if Garrison dives on the ball. I'm sure Pope will use this as a teaching point. The ball is the most important thing. The ball is ALWAYS worth diving for.

He stomped on a player. Looking at the replay now

I did notice that, though I also wasn’t entirely certain how purposeful it was since it seemed to occur as the other Louisville players were shoving him in to the Louisville bench. So I wasn’t willing to pass judgement. If there was indeed intent, he needs to cut that out and just play ball. No need for cheap shots.

Yes, I was frustrated with him on this play. But, he at least did show the hustle on the other play when he went after the ball going out of bounds like crazy and threw it off Hepburn and kept it as our possession. That was a critical part of the game too.

Bench pulled him in which caused a little trip over the guy on the floor. Should have been a T on the bench.
He wasn't pulled. He stood over the guy whose head he had slapped for too long. The refs handled it perfectly. There was no way to tell if the player was out of bounds before he was hit upside his head.

The cardinal who drew the foul did a tremendous acting job and then #1 in red pushed Garrison into the red bench. He instigated the whole thing. But it was nothing really.
The foul was called because Garrison hit the guy in the head. The replay clearly showed it. The only question was if he went out of bounds first, but there was no definitive proof.

I don't think anything really happened. He just kind of fell into the Louisville bench and then with the swarm of people got forced further into the bench area. Nothing should have been called.
That’s what I thought, too … looked worse than it was …

Maybe he did, but if so it was incidental. The Louisville guy on the ground really sold it. There was nothing to warrant #1 coming up and pushing Garrison from behind. Red #1 caused the whole scene. The guy on the ground probably was out of bounds but nothing to prove it and I’m not even sure if that was reviewable.

If that was a stomp then when I scratch my face it’s called a punch.
That was more of a stomp than what Laettner did.

Don’t know why you’re laughing, Saxion. It’s true. We can be fans and still be objective. It was a cheap shot. It was harder than what Laettner did which was also a cheap shot. How is this deniable?

Here we have an intense rivalry game, a loose ball and being directly in front of the UL bench. Yet, all that happened was a lot of nothing. The refs got it right. I commend both teams for staying under control in an intense environment with emotions running high.

Was what I was going to post. We’ve got to start getting on the court for loose balls and stop bending at the waist.

I don’t see it any different than Laettner. Both were soft.

Garrison has a little dirty in him. You like it when he’s on your team and hate it when he’s on other teams. It’s tough for fans to view these things objectively, but he intentionally stepped down on the guy on the ground.

He had this play during the game too. Again, fans generally don’t mind because he’s on the good side. If he was a UL player, the tune would absolutely be different.

I mean yeah it wasn’t this but it’s still a stomp 😂

Absolutely which is why it’s so wild that we have guys on here who can’t admit they’re biased on this because we absolutely would be furious if it was Louisville or Duke doing this.

He was wrong to do what he did, no matter what team he is on. Being pushed doesn’t give you the right to scratch at someone’s face or try to stomp someone. That being said, if there were punches or hits all is fair. None of that occurred so he just lost his cool.

So, based on what you just stated, the foul and nothing more was the appropriate call. If you want to complain about officiating, you can start with Adams' attempt to reassign the foul called by another ref so that a player wouldn't foul out. I have never seen anything like that at any level of basketball.

I watched the game live and missed all of the above. You’re telling me he celebration-bonked Hepburn, stomped ole boy on the ground, and kneed another UL bench player in the nuts during the whole thing with the bench.

He might be my new favorite player.

Pat Adams badly badly missed an out of bounds call in the first half . Louisville kid knocked it out . Not even close . Louisville got the ball and then scored three points . Happened right in front of us . Not even close UK player was several feet away . Incredibly bad call.
Type of play that could have affected the spread . Hmmmm?

It might have crossed his mind but I don't think he did all of those things. Lol

If ever there was a ref who appeared to be on the take, it was Adams. His calls were crazy. He was overruling other officials who were in much better positions to make the call. I am really puzzled why that allowed it to happen. Was he the lead official yesterday? Whatever the case, his behavior should be investigated.

Give card fans a few more days to stew on it and they'll be saying Garrison took a man to mid court and beat him gladiator style. According to that fanbase they have never lost a game but it was either stolen from them by officials or the opposing team cheated.

off topic - but hope the back has straightened out for you. Sucks to deal with anytime of the year but even more so at Christmas time.

Disagree. He was not slow to react. He was the 1st person to the ball. He was trying to pick it up for fast break. If he dove on it, he probably would have slid out of bounds. Besides, jump ball would have been ul, I think. So the only difference would have been the foul on garrison

Right at the 7:00 mark, the ball does appear to go off of the UL player. One ref signals UK ball. Adams overrules him and gives it to UL. UL then hits a 3.
