***GAME THREAD - UK vs. Brown***

I am 100% sincere in this…. What does Williams bring us over Garrison or Carr at the 5? He looks like he plays at about 65% all the time, watches SO MANY balls he seems like he could grab or alter, and isn’t that good on offense.
It’s maddening bc statistically he is our best interior defender and has one of the best +-on the team…..but visually/eye test it just doesn’t seem like it. I also think the offense is better with Garrison or Carr but that should prove out in the +- stat and it doesn’t

Williams avg about 9 rebs for 20 mins a game is pretty good, problem is for every rebound he gets he follows it with something negative. Lol
He gets rebounds that come to him sometimes.

If he had better hands he would get most of those. He doesn’t get those.

He never rebounds out of his area.

He doesn’t have what people call a “nose” for the ball.

I’m not busting on him. He is what he is.

I think he’s doing all he can.

Awful possession. Starts with Jaxson just standing there allowing the defense to recover, while evceryone else ball-watched.

Nice to see Otega getting out on this.

Just looks like he hasn't ever had any good "big man" technique coaching

I would not go that far.

The talent just isnt there for me, and i think its gonna bite us a lot more than we may realize. I just want to get a 6 seed or better if we can (and no, I don't believe that's any way of a guarantee), because then hopefully we can maybe get some non-SEC teams in the first few rounds of the tournament.

Just don't have a good feeling with this team. We desperately need not only a #1 guy, but maybe even a #2 guy as well.

Of course i could be wrong. Maybe Pope's system can carry us there like he did with BYU for much of last year.

I think what people are imagining is that "good" against Brown isn't going to be close to good enough to win against UF and a good majority of the SEC.

At the end of the day that UF game is basically 50/50 regardless what we do in this game.

It's weird. We beat Duke/Gonzaga people thinking we are competing for a national title

We get killed by OSU and people think we aren't winning any SEC games.

Team has always been somewhere in the middle.

Game we were predicted on Kenpom based on our rating to win by 19. We are blowing by that. But we can't beat a UF team at home in a game they are currently predicted to win by 1?

It's never as bad or as good as people tend to make things out to be.

This team is going to lose a bunch of SEC games just because the SEC is so good this season. But it's good enough to still have a decent season and make a run in the tournament IMO.

I almost wonder if Pope's mild coaching demeanor is why this team comes out so damned soft all the time. It's like they have no fire.
I have thought about that as well. I have wondered if he gets fired up behind closed doors. Go Cats!!💙💙💙

Our play was nowhere near where it was when this team was hitting on all cylinders.

Even in the Duke and Gonzaga games where we won them in the end, we weren't hitting on all cylinders.

We were getting killed in those games for a large portion of the game.

Maybe this is just what we are.

We are easily a six. Everyone knew we don’t have too talented we just need to play. Like we were as a team.

I honestly believe Amari would get more steals, blocks and rebounds if he just closed his eyes and randomly waved his arms and feet around.

Nice fade-away jumper by Amari.

I know Duke and Gonzaga and Brown is not either. We were playing top 10 teams when playing Duke and Gonzaga. Brown is probably not even top 100.

I was always a little suspect of that Duke win. We came through, we did get the W, Pope was a maestro. But do I think we're better? I'm not sure. The better team doesn't always win. Sometimes things happen, players might have a bad off night. In the NBA, every night, some crappier team puts it all together for that evening and gets an upset.

But I ask myself this, how would our fanbase react if the situations in that game were reversed.. We had the younger team, we lost two important guys mid-game to injury, In the drivers seat in the 1st half before those injuries, and still almost won if not for some youthful mistakes by a very good Cooper Flagg? I know for me, I'd be begging for a rematch. Begging. And I think our fanbase would also.

Williams/Garrison has definitely been the weak spot on this team all season long.
To the point I have no idea who i'd rather see in there.

I'd prefer neither.

I know Duke and Gonzaga and Brown is not either. We were playing top 10 teams when playing Duke and Gonzaga. Brown is probably not even top 100.

We're also up 20 on them currently and there's still 15 mins left in this one. We could easily expand this to 30-35 which is where KU just beat this team at.

I hope the next time we play Duke is in the E8, but I don’t know if this team can get there.
