I will turn 57 in less than a month. I have been a Kentucky fan my whole life and the first team I can remember well is the 75 runner-up. This is the most I have enjoyed watching the Wildcats. It seems like the players are enjoying each other other and it seems like they are appreciative to have the opportunity to play for Kentucky. They are playing for the name on the front and for Big Blue Nation. No coach since Joe Hall understands what Kentucky is about until Mark Pope became the coach. They are fun to watch and they hustle like guys wearing the Kentucky jersey should.

For me it’s the calm intensity and confidence this team shows.

I saw all i needed to see when we scored 105 on an off shooting night and Butler dove on the floor for a lose ball with two minutes left with a 30 point lead.
This! Man, I love this team! Just a bunch of all out hustle veterans that know how to play the game!

I still have to put 2009, 2012, 2015 ahead (for now) and maybe a few other seasons.

The greatest part of those early Cal seasons was just the immense turn around from what we were with Tubby's last years and BCG. We went from a real no-threat to make the 2nd weekend.. to an absolute powerhouse overnight. I still have some doubts with this UK team because im sensing this roster just might not have quite the level of talent to win it all.. but those UK teams in the 2010s often gave me a feeling of "who can stop this team?".

I remember working at my local mall, and leaving on my breaks to go to one of the restaurant bars and watch us play. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

To me, this team is like the unforgettables part 2. It’s different because of NIL, but in 1989-90 season when we were hit with probation and all the players left except for the KY kids and Sean Woods, they pretty much resurrected UK from the ashes back to the top of college basketball.
We were heading to obscurity the last few years, every one left that played for Cal. These are the guys that want to be here.
1989-90 preseason, they said we’d be lucky to win 5 games, finished 14-14.
This team wasn’t getting much preseason respect, now probably be top 5 in next AP poll. This is a special team and hopefully they’re starting a special run, this decade, like the 89-90 team did.

Unlike some teams in the past that weren't much fun to watch.
This team is very likeable and quite fun to see play and hoop it up!

Oh come on guys. Was there any season more fun than 1998?

I love this team, but……

There was nothing like that 1996 team. Watching, waiting for that 12-0, 16-2, or 20-4 run that you knew was coming, no matter who the opponent was.

The ‘96 Cats weren’t just a complete team, they were two complete teams, all unselfish, all united, almost without flaw. I don’t believe you will ever again see a team anywhere near that deep with talent, the college sports landscape has changed too much.

There is definitely a closing of the gap between the overall experience of this team, and the talent and physicality of the teams we're facing.

I, too, loved the blue collar, collection of veterans on that 1998 team. Those guys had more grit and mental toughness than many of the teams following it and preceding it. What they lacked in athleticism and talent, they made up for in toughness and a desire to win. That dUKe game is my favorite game of all, with the Stanford game also an amazing thriller…….I think this years team is very similar.

Rupp's Runts were the most fun to watch(not been anything like them before or since) The 78 team was like watching a bulldozer tear down a building, 96- same bulldozer with a turbo.

This year is so different from what we have watched over the last 6 or so years that we are still in shock and aren't sure what to make of them just yet. I will say the ball movement approaches that of the Runts so far(what say you old timers, if any of you can still type)

I think, and thought, the same thing.

Is it just me, (please chime in!) or are we beginning to see some killer instinct from our guys?

After the altercation, it looked like our guys got that killer instinct and took it to a level we haven't seen in a long time around here.

My gut said "Butlerbulldogging for a loose ball with 2 minutes left and a 30 point lead reminds me of all those other awesome UK teams that had killer instinct - and unleashed it - on the opponent....

I highly doubt any season will be as fun as the '96 cats being so incredibly dominant, being 13 players deep. But I'll gladly welcome a year just as fun. I can say so far through the mid majors its more fun than the mid majors that year almost 30 years ago as we are averaging 100 ppg vs mid majors this year, thats wild. but will we keep up the scoring against good teams too?

And patient and intelligent. They make great decisions. They take their time when necessary, and adjust so well. It's a beautiful thing to see, for a change.

I went to the Georgia State game ——THE GEORGIA STATE GAME——and there were close to ten thousand people who stayed after for the radio show. My time watching the Cats in person goes back to Pitino’s first year and I have never seen anything like how much this fanbase loves this team and this coach. It’s such a blessing to be caught up in it myself.
