FSU In Playoff?

Got to agree here on TCU. But, I don't think FSU this year is all that much ahead of TCU last year. Yeah, they're undefeated and all. But man is the ACC terrible this year. We joke about it but they seemed bad on a whole new level. UK beats one of their title game participants and FSU gets all they want from a terrible Florida team. I think FSU would get waxxed in their semifinal, especially if it's against UGA or maybe Bama.
The ACC has a winning record against the SEC this year, just FYI.

I just want to know how one can tout Ole Miss as good for its biggest win being against LSU but then act like FSU sucks despite beating LSU.

Big Ten is nothing but two teams. Penn State didn't beat anyone. It's strictly Michigan and Ohio State. SEC wasn't special this year. As usual, top heavy.

College football doesn't have a lot of parity at the top and hasn't for a long time. Every power five always has either one or two really good teams and then nothing special. This year is no different.

If FSU finishes 13-0 they deserve to be in the playoffs as much as anyone. They beat 2 SEC teams this season. After the injury to the QB they may or may not be one of the 4 best, but you can say that about everyone of the playoff contenders. I don't think Louisville is physical enough to beat FSU. I expect Oregon to beat Washington, and take their spot in the top 4. I think Mich beats Iowa, Bama has improved this year, can beat us if we don't play well, but if Texas wins, will the committee bump them into the playoffs?
I think Georgia, Michigan, FSU, Oregon, and Texas wins this weekend. If I were a betting man, no undefeated team is going to get left out and it's absurd to argue such a thing. The dilemma will be if Oregon/Washington offset each other and you put in Texas which I don't think happens. I think they would put in Oregon in that scenario.

There's no scenario where Bama should be in over Texas if Texas wins.

I'm rooting for chalk this weekend to avoid any controversy because you can't argue against undefeated power five teams. You start arguing about one loss teams against each other and then it's a nightmare.

I will say that I am 100% against including anyone who didn't make it to the conference championship. Ohio State should not get to benefit like Alabama got to do twice.

Oregon is playing their best right now, Washington not so much. I think Oregon wins and wins big, 2 TD+. I can't see Louisville keeping game close, they are small, but quick, I still don't think they are physical enough to play FSU. Texas probably wins, but no one will care. Michigan wins, don't think thy score much, but not sure Iowa scores any. If UGA can limit Bama QB we win, if he runs wild we lose. If Mich, Oregon, FSU, and Texas win comfortably even with Bama beating us I think they are still out.

This is a good thread, and this issue is very complex. The committee has stated that they value conference champions. FSU would have won a league that went 6-4 vs SEC in the non conference. Regardless, the SEC is better. But FSU did go 2-0 against our mighty SEC.

Then, if you really watch college football it is painfully obvious that the current FSU team is NOT one of the 4 best teams. The loss of Jordan Travis makes them far less explosive than before. Beating UL should not move the needle as the Cards were a handful of snaps away from going 6-6 or 7-5. Yet, leaving out an undefeated power 5 champ will be very hard to do.

It’s gonna be crazy.

But if everything goes chalk with faves winning (what the committee is hoping for), then no worries except do you pick Oregon over Texas

I’d say

UGA
Michigan
Fsu
Oregon or Texas

Oregon but fsu ranked 4th. Uga should get the easier opponent.

The committee screwed UGA last year and it almost bit them. They should have gotten tcu in the first game and would have annihiliated them. Instead, to avoid osu vs michigan in semis, they ranked osu 4th when everyone knew they were better than tcu.

The game that can cause controversy is Alabama/Georgia. The committee will no matter who wins the other games upset someone.

Does Texas get left out even though they beat Bama head to head on their field?
Does the committee leave Georgia out because they lost the SEC championship game?
Does the committee leave out Washington and FSU even though they are undefeated?
Does the committee leave a 1 loss Oregon team out that revenged their only loss in the Pac 12 title game?

The winner of the Pac 12 title has a legit claim.
If FSU goes undefeated they have a legit claim.
If Texas wins they have a legit claim.
If Georgia loses they still have a legit claim.
If Bama beats Georgia they still have a legit claim.
If Michigan loses they still have a legit claim.

The committee does not have it easy this year unless Washington, Georgia, Michigan, and Florida State all win. That would be 4 undefeated teams and the committee will just end the argument as every other team lost a game.

Please don't lose to Louisville.

The ONLY reason they are playing in this game is because somehow they avoided playing all the top teams in the conference

If Georgia, Michigan, and FSU all win, then it's still easy: Oregon or Washington would be in, whoever wins.

Really, as long as Georgia and Michigan both win, it's still easy. 1: Georgia, 2: Michigan, 3: Pac 12 champ, 4: 13-0 FSU OR 12-1 Texas OR 12-1 Washington OR 11-1 OSU, in that order.

Really we will play FSU and we played the teams who finished 3rd, 4th & 5th in the conference. As far as Clemson goes we played 5 common opponents Louisville went 5-0 vs Clemson going 2-3. With UNC we played 6 common opponents Louisville went 5-1 vs UNC going 2-4. You keep saying the schedule was weak but remember with that schedule Louisville was still picked to finish 8th in the conference but finished 2nd. I will say Clemson got a little better as the season went on while UNC got a little worse.

Zero grace for a QB making his first start in three years that didn't turn the ball over and still help win by two scores on the road against a rival? His running back ran for three TDs. Their defense got six sacks and only gave up 15 points?

What was Washington's excuse for a Heisman candidate struggling against Washington State or why did Georgia have an issue with Ga Tech?

It's like if ESPN and Finebaum just say something enough, it becomes the adopted narrative.
I think u6 beats fsu.

Georgia is in no matter what. Michigan has 0.00% chance of losing, they are in. Oregon-Washington winner is in.

So if FSU loses we need to cheer for Texas to win the Big 12 impressively. Then they can leapfrog the idle Ohio. And block Bama by invalidating a possible win over Georgia.

Yeah, and people can't change schedules mid-season. You schedule before the season and we see with pre-season rankings who was expected to be where.

For FSU, LSU and Clemson were ranked top 10 to start the season. How many schools even play an OOC opponent that's highly ranked? Not many.
It sounds like FSU's QB Rodemaker is OUT for the game.

They will start a TRUE Freshman.
Weird because he was practicing yesterday.

This is why I'm so glad a couple of super conferences are forming, and the playoffs are expanding.

First, a lot of teams who have walked through their schedules for basically their entire history are about to find out what a tough road is in the B10 and SEC.

Secondly 12 teams will end all the yapping because that takes care of every team with any kind of "resume".

Louisville will beat them and this will be all for nothing. Losing their QB was a death blow. Remember, Florida is a train wreck and nearly pulled it off with Sun Belt Billy calling the shots.

Zero logic used here.

So Devin Leary can beat them but a FSU QB who didn't even turn the ball over, can't?

Ah so winning by nine against a rival is bad.
But Georgia only beating Ga Tech by 8 is okay.
Needing a miracle to beat a 6-6 Auburn team that got cooked by New Mexico State is alright.
Beating 5-7 Washington State on a last second field goal is cool.

It's like you just repeat a narrative that you can't even defend. With this QB, they won 58-13 and 24-15.

I just love the logic of pounding the chest about Bama despite beating 4-8 Arkansas by 3, losing by double digits to Texas, and needing a miracle to beat Auburn.

Serious question here- what is it with some who cheer for Alabama on here? So weird.

6-4 ACC vs SEC means nothing because the matchups weren't like for like. Look, I get that real games are all we have to go on. But if you're trying to convince me that the ACC is better than the SEC (which I don't think you are, I think you're trying to garner more respect for FSU), then let's play 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 and so on. I guarantee the SEC comes out ahead there. But that won't ever happen. A random selection of teams\games doesn't really say anything in my opinion. Same thing in the bowl games when fans tout their conference record against another conference. I stand by what I said originally, if FSU has to play Bama or UGA in the semifinals, they're losing and most likely by a lot.

Louisville is better than Florida and will be motivated beyond all belief to kick ass. FSU is not near the team without their do it all, best player.

And Leary is a much better QB that the backup goober who will be passed over in the portal.

I can absolutely agree that it is weird to cheer for multiple teams, I mean actually root for them. In a one game matchup then I can see that, but being a fan of two teams is very odd.

I understand you are a FSU fan, your assertion is that FSU is the number 3 team currently I believe you stated before.

I think all agree with they will be in the playoff with a win Saturday.

If you think without Travis they are still the same team then if they were to lose to Louisville and be 12-1 why would that change your mind?

I assume you believe 12-1 FSU would deserve to be in over the other 12-1 teams?

What would be the difference between

12–1 FSU, Bama, Texas, Oregon, Washington, and Georgia?

-first the only sec team I *root* for is UK... I "sportshate" the rest of them.

^that doesn't mean that the SEC is not objectively the best cfb conference top to bottom.

^down a bit this year for sure...but if "like plays like" e.g. : acc 1vs sec1, acc 2vs sec 2...and so on the sec would come out on top. Is what it is...the 7th or 8th best sec team just beat the team that is headed to the acc championship on their own field.

-back on topic: fsu wins the acccg...and they are in as they should be. Go noles.

-expanded playoff fixes all of this...looking forward to it.

not nearly as weird as an fsu fan coming on a UK board running down one of our long time posters. Esp since we don't play each other!

Dude, you are way too defensive. What are you doing hanging out on another team's message board pitching a fit over your team not being respected enough? Seriously my man, touch grass.

I hate every other team in the SEC including Florida. I think you’re acting like an ass.

So there was talk about the Noles boycotting the game to show their displeasure with getting bumped out of the CFP. Several of their key skill position players are opting out of the game. So now I guess they have a legit reason reason for getting drilled by GA.

Hopefully GA demolishes FSU. The chance to further damage an already weak ACC product was there for the taking....UNC lost, NC St lost, U6 lost to USC's scout squad, FSU gets plowed under(hopefully)....but UK blew it. It's amazing how many times UK has had to really inflict great harm while elevating their own product only to step in a huge pile of shit.

I know a lot of Noles opted out, but had they given UGA a run, I would have regretted my opinion that the committee did the right thing.

UGA might put up 60 on them. Anybody in the playoffs would have done about the same. FSU was a good team, they were never a playoff team.

People let emotions and heart string idealism get the best of them with all the huffing and buffing..."but the games have to mean something...how can you tell a 13-0 team they're not one of the best teams...they deserve it..."

They were never one of the best 4 in the country. A simple eyeball test could have told you that, and that's what the committee did. They only messed up in trying to be nice about it and make the justification more complicated than it was.

Should have just come out and said straight up "FSU...congratulations on a great year. You're not getting into the 4-team playoff because you are not one of the best 4 teams. You'd get housed by all of them, and you're going to get housed by UGA."
