I've been meaning to post this since middle of last week, but had forgotten. I was listening to Mike and Mike and Greenberg repeatedly stated that Hoiberg and Chicago isn't working out. He's too easy going. Players don't like him, etc. I was mildly surprised he left ISU being the fixture he was there since he was a little boy. But I also understand his NBA background.

This said, will he end back up in the college ranks if Chicago doesn't work out? Will an NBA team want to take him on? And if he does make it back to college, I guess ISU wouldn't be out of the mix if Prohm doesn't work out, but more likely another Mid West school perhaps.

Thoughts?

Between losing Noah for the season and his recent health issues he will get a pass.

The guy can coach, I bet it works itself out.

He has always seemed to be an NBAer to me.

Guy pulled in more Jucos than regular recruits - very different philosophy.

I think Hoiberg is an NBA guy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another NBA job if Chicago let's him go after this year. I don't see him going to a major college job that would require him to be "the guy". If he doesn't get any NBA jobs, I could see him taking an Iowa St. type job where they are big enough to make some noise if they are good, but not too big that they won't mind if he just parks there for a couple years until his NBA stock goes back up.

I doubt Chicago cuts him loose after 1 year unless it's mutiny. But 2 mediocre years in a mediocre East and imo he's gone. I too think he's an NBA guy. Chicago went from a tough Tom Thibadeau to a soft Hoiberg and the players apparently don't like it at all. Supposedly Jimmy Butler told FH, we need you to coach us.

Proba ly stays nba...as cront office type if not assistant coach somewhere.

He is a solid coach, not sure he is better than thibs in his first year on the job though.
