Fox, Monk, Bridges, Bolden Update

Alright so here's todays news for everyone.
Fox- Start getting excited because it's looking really strong that he will be in a Kentucky uni next year
Monk- Most likely going to Arkansas but obviously can never count Kentucky out. Definitely down to those 2 schools though.
Bridges- Definitely Michigan state lock
Bolden- Wants to go to Kentucky but family wants him to go to Duke.. will be interesting to see who wins out.

I will be super bummed if Monk goes anywhere but UK. To me, he is the prize! Regardless, appreciate the news!
 
thanks for the info ... I think Monk is just keeping his Arkansas option open in case things change at UK. And by that I mean what if Ulis stays, Mulder plays extremely well but doesn't go pro... things like that.
 
If monk pops for UK I predict he will announce the day before he leaves for campus. Arkansas fans are not always very friendly.

Alabama fans give players less hell for picking Auburn ......... you'd think Arkansas fans would understand if its to go to a UK or Duke ..... but nope, they are so desperate to be good in basketball again they allow themselves to act like UL fans
 
Bolden is one I can't get a read on. I figured Kansas would be going all out on this kid right now.

He's got a lot of competition at UK/Duke in the frontcourt.
 
Fox was done to UK the minute they offered. Shared that months ago and before he was offered.

Monk is a heavy UK lean.

Bolden is one of the most overrated players in this loaded class. Soft, poor rebounder, and non existent defensive presence. Was told UK really not interested. We'll see how it unfolds but relationship with Jeff Webster is why UK/Duke so high--Capel being at OU and Webster a former OU guy was Duke in and obviously Julius Randle connection with UK.

Bam Adebayo's handlers and people have been told to go to UK by various industry people. Gottfried better close deal this weekend or he'll slip away. That's why he's going "all in" for this weekend. If Bam doesn't pull trigger this weekend or soon after--UK will get him.

Rawle Alkins has grade/eligibility issues--need to be dealt with which is why UK is in wait and see mode. He'll be a Spring target if he can get that cleared up.

Monk ain't going to Arkansas IMO . He and his people talk up UK to much and can see this shite show that is in Arky . I feel better about Monk then anyone not named Fox . But things can change between no and then for sure as newman was a UK lock at this point last year . Just like I felt we would def get either Bridges or Gabriel I feel we will get a great guard either way as no way no how we miss on Monk AND Alkins . Can't forget about Simmons either . He ain't Monk but he will be a lottery pick as well one day with his skills.

I've felt the exact same for awhile now. I'd imagine Arkansas has been really good to his family. However, I think people gloss over the fact that his brother played football, and Arkansas was a really good football team while he was there (Run DMC years). Arkansas basketball is not comparable, even though he's a legacy.
 
Monk will absolutely waste a chance of his lifetime if he picks Arkansas. He could go to a lot of places (incl UK) and do so much better. Makes zero sense.
 
Didn't Goodwin put up with a ton of crap when he announced he was going to UK? I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he waits on the announcement if he goes here. I would expect any early announcement to be for Arkansas.

Honestly think we were just a place holder for Bolden. Wanted UK or Duke most of all and was probably gonna wait as long as it takes. Seems to be a plan B or C for UK. Appears to be a much higher priority for Duke but still questions of his place on roster with all they have already. If he doesn't pick Duke or UK then believe it will be Alabama.

Would be shocked if Bolden picked KU. Think that ship sailed. Think we have a much better chance with Azubuike although think that's less than 50%.

Now I'm depressed. This class is turning into a dumpster fire for us.

***I bet Bolden wanted to go to Kentucky before the Gabriel commit. Now they've got a frontcourt that'll have Wynyard, Humphries, Kilyea-Jones, Gabriel & still likely Mc. Lee. Seems like there's not much room for Bolden....particularly since he's more of a C-type and UK's likely to have 3-4 of that type for next season already.

Gabriel will see most of his time at the 3 like Gilchrist and Miller did. I think Kansas will have a shot.

All depends if he sees himself as a one and done. He could come in , practice against great players every day while developing his game , and get major minutes as a sophomore.

I hope you are right.

Really want Adebayo. I love his game. Would be nice to see him deliver some rim shaking dunks in Rupp.

Would love to get Fox, Monk, and Adebayo to go with Gabriel and Killeya-Jones. That would be a great class.

G Fox/Hawkins
G Monk/Mulder/Floreal
F Gabriel/Matthews
F Killeya-Jones/Wynyard/Willis
F Adebayo/Humphries

That's another contender, IMHO.
 
Losing Monk would hurt, but would not be catastrophic. We will still have Mulder and Matthews who can play that position and still have Simmons and Alkins as possibilities. Would really love to have Monk, though. He is a beast.

Monk will really be wasting his talent in Arkansas. I can understand Bridges to MSU or Giles to Duke, but Arkansas is a train wreck. They won't win many games next year. I feel worse for him (if he goes to Arkansas) than I do for us. He hurts his draft stock and gives up any chance at a national title if he goes to Arkansas. Is it worth it just to be a hometown hero?

not getting Fox would kill the class but good thing we won't lose Fox. As much as someone can be a lock Fox is and everyone says so. Thank god! Monk is big too but Alkins and Simmons are great in there own right.

I meant Monk, not Fox!

We really need Fox. He is likely our only pure PG next year, if we get him.
 
We won't lose Fox. We have been the leader for that kid the moment we offered. He wants to be a OnenDone and Kentucky is the best school in the country with Cal as coach. I think Cal is this kids dream coach to Play for and unless something changes and Cal leaves, nothing no other school in the country can change that. I'm a lil worried about Monk going to Ark, but I still think we will get him. I just can't see a talent like that risking so much with his basketball future by going there. Don't know about Bolden or if he would even fit our style of play, but if Cal offered the kid, its a good bet he can make it work.
 
A very important Monk consideration - unlike Goodwin - he will not have to play at Arkansas.
