Former Louisville PG El Ellis to Arkansas

Now they roll with Skyy Clark at PG
Attended several High Schools. Commits to Ky and backs out. Goes to Illinois and leaves. Now he is at The Ville.
Good luck winning with him
In all fairness to Clark, he was injured and was never at full strength so he wasn't going to see any playing time at UK. IDK about Ill.

Ellis was ok, easily the best they had. But he was also a turnover machine (on offense, not on defense), 3.8/gm.
So I kind of like him going to Ark.

Is this transfer thing temporary all players immediately eligible? No more sit out a year ?
Everyone gets one free transfer without sitting out. After a couple years of this, lots of guys will have used their one free one and there will be fewer guys available to transfer. Though, every incoming freshman can always transfer once for free.

Okay thanks for the info.
If you commit sign your letter of intent and play games for the university and want to transfer you should have to redshirt unless a hardship that the player has no control over. Should be like that.

It also doesn't apply to grad transfers like Wheeler and, in this thread, El Ellis, who is in his 5th year also. Kind of a perfect storm for transfers this year with all the covid year leftovers and a lot of players getting to use their first-time transfer option.

Musselman has actually added three "grad" transfers and 2 first-time transfers thus far.

That is the way it used to be. But philosophically many (including myself) thought that was wrong.

Coaches could change schools with no penalty. Why shouldn't students? Especially if their coach left. But there were also lots of other exceptions the NCAA was making, like in Collins situation an exception might have been made to allow him to transfer near his mom. But back to a coaching change. Athletes primarily choose their school based on the coach(es), not the school. Think about football, where if you are an option QB not good at throwing the ball, and your option head coach leaves and the new hire is a spread passing offense coach.

Yeah we're in the wake of those two major things so things are more chaotic than they'll be in a few years once things have settled in. The covid year can't be understated - there is an entire extra year's worth of players eligible than usual so there are TONS of players out there competing for roster spots and leaving for greener pastures.

They can transfer all they want just must sit a year. Go ahead and give an automatic hardship if the coach leaves the program that would still be better than this. What happened to “committed”to the university with this new transfer thing don’t call it that anymore. Just say signed with so and so even though letter of intent ain’t nothing anymore as well.

Arkansas and LSU have added something like 11 players to their rosters combined from the portal and both might not even be done. Crazy times.

He actually had a 10% higher assist rate than Black. But his role will probably be totally different for Arkansas than it was at Louisville.
Yeah but soph Anthony Black would be a beast.
Black"s ability to impose his will on an opponent is on another level.
If Ellis" shot is not falling, he's as mediocre as they come.
