Jack Pyburn has went into the portal after being denied his ridiculous demands. If true, this was the easiest decision for Florida's staff to tell this guy to get lost.

"Those included a $45,000 monthly stipend, a guarantee that he would start at outside linebacker, increased snaps in the rotation and another guarantee that he would play on ALL third downs."

Must have a relative as an agent (with a lot of gambling debt and a hefty monthly psychiatry billing). This is hilarious

Looks like he doesn't want to work for it, or he wants a guarantee he won't be at UF next fall

Hmmm, in all these types of free agent discussions, I wonder were actual education falls with these semi pro players? Honestly, how can they focus on academics with all the craziness of trying to be a pro athlete?

Gator fans I work with were pissed about this. Pissed.

It would suck to deal with this crap. At least in the NFL, you only have 55 players and not everyone is a free agent every single year yet that's what college ball is. Exhausting crap and delusional kids.
It is a two way street. The market is being set by the schools not the players. Good example here if what was reported is true. LSU overpaid based off his production. Players are just taking advantage the system.

This how teams with 20M rosters lose to teams with half the budget. Now the 20m rosters has more wiggle room in avoiding bad seasons.

It is crazy that backups in the SEC that hit portal usually end up on another SEC roster. Starters in the SEC almost always end up at another SEC school. The talent is just recycling in the conference.

Well they have the most money so that’s not surprising. Only three Big Ten schools are in the top 10 in revenue (5 in the top 13). The highest revenue team outside the BIg Ten and SEC is Virginia and FSU at 14 and 15.

Remember how much fun and enjoyment college sports used to be?
Hasn't changed for me. Kentucky wins a basketball game, I'm not any less happy knowing Jaxson Robinson is getting paid above the table than when James Blackman was getting paid under it.

Other than Notre Dame maybe.

Notre Dame was likely tops in revenue and net. They had at least 255M in revenue, and 44M net after expenses. Each of their sports, most if not all, brought in substantial revenue by comparison to other programs. Lacrosse and womens soccer for instance brought in over 2M in revenue and didn't overspend by a penny.

The OtherStateU in Columbus OH was at 251M. Tops for public schools.

Perhaps, but this is hardly the sentiment among most Gator fans. The truth is, Pyburn is a bright young man from an excellent high school in Jacksonville (Bolles Academy) who grew up loving UF. He was a hard worker and team leader who actually recorded the 2nd-highest number of tackles on the team this season. He did enter the portal,, but disputes that the reported demands were accurate.
Regardless, even as a solid player at EDGE, the 3-star player had pretty much reached his ceiling and there are better athletes who have more eligibility and would almost certainly have taken snaps from him. While not desiring to lose him, with the numbers (limits) it often becomes a business decision for the coaches as well as the players.
Whether the reported demands were true, I don't think coaches should ever give in to "demands". That said, I don't begrudge any player ASKING. Negotiations often yield something different. Fpr better or worse, this is college football today.

ok. To a person, my coworkers have said he could've transferred and still been a near legend and now he'll be remembered as "that" guy. I don't really follow UF and don't really care, so IDK where the truth is on that issue.
