Florida opening with Utah and Kentucky

Ole Fred is a Gator and they hate being in the position they are in. So like the rest of them will spew things without any proof. They also claim Nolan Smith was bought a Raptor when his parents could afford to buy him a Bentley. UF and UT fans want us to be dirty when the only one dirty is UT. They will be ac c using UK in a year or 2.

Irony is his very accusation makes him someone you can't trust.
They were all dirty but now it's legal

I think all our regular opponents should cycle through different schedule positions.

I agree with this. I don't know who in the SEC office decided that UK always has to play in Gainesville in September while Florida always comes to CWS in October. Georgia in Athens always seems to be in November, but Georgia in Lexington seems to move between Oct and Nov.

Why don't we ever play Tennessee in September? They decided nothing is sacred and moved UT from the last weekend, so I don't see why we can't open up the SEC slate with them now and then. It's a very odd phenomenon in the Birmingham offices.

The dude that said that is nuts, even though Florida is one of the southern most states it had never been looked at as pro southern. Kentucky has always been looked at as more southern than Florida. Kentucky is in the upper south but it's ways are more southern than Florida and always have been. Florida is geographically southern, but we all know, the further south you travel in Florida, the less Southern you get. The majority of Floridians do not consider themselves southern and southern folks don’t accept most of them as southern. Southerners will ask from what part of Florida a person is from to really get a feel of how southern they are.
I lived in Fla 5 years, they gave me hell(in a fun way) about my accent. I thought this is the furthest South you can go, but you are right, they aren't Southern

Ya'll act like Kentucky is Main in October or November...temps can just as easily be in the 50s and 60s those late fall games

The baseball team plays in worse weather than the Football team...you want cold, icy, windy, wet, and or snowy advantage...schedule the Gators in March...worst sports weather around Kentucky by far is early season baseball...

Kudos to Florida and the programs with big swinging balls for going out and scheduling a known program in the OOC though...especially Vandy who's basically said "f$^k it we may not win any conference games, but we're not going for easy wins in the OOC...let's go play Hawaii at Hawaii, and bring in a top 10 Wake Forest team..."

Wish other programs that will go nameless would do the same and play teams like Arizona, Kansas State, Oregon, Texas, Penn State, Wake Forest, Cinci, Hawaii, Florida St....

Just another reason to get the SEC offices out of Alabama. North Carolina would be ideal.

This season we are playing Georgia mid Nov. Zero reason whatsoever Florida in 2023 shouldn't be in that same scheduling calendar. Barring the addition of OK & TX blowing everything up.

Well past time for Barnhart to push back at SEC offices giving out the implied political favoritism. Superior has been gone from Gainesville for 20 yrs, they haven't been a national title program over 12 yrs.

LSU dropping KY for Fla was a good thing as well KY playing Fla early this year is also good b/c new coach staff but you are right about - down the road.

Never happen, that's ACC country.

ACC may not be a thing much longer. They tied themselves up long term with a TV deal that doesn't look very good now. Joining the Big10 or ACC would pay a teams getting out money and still have more left over than the ACC contract gives them.

But even if that doesn't happen, SEC office needs to be somewhere beside Alabama, hopefully in a state with no SEC teams. Get all the fans out of there.

I think Utah would beat Florida if they played last year. Florida should be able to handle them this year. Florida is going to have a big time size advantage up front on both offense and defense. I think UF will be surprisingly good considering most people think they are in rebuild

Yeah, the average November low in Lexington is 44. The average November low in Gainesville is 51. A whopping 7 degrees difference. It's not like Florida is going to be playing us in sub freezing temps.

They were much better early last year, played UK tough, took Bama to the end losing by 2. Players quit on Mullen for whatever reason, they were a shell of the team that started the season.

They will hit the portal after spring practices are over, they are very optimistic about the 22 season, many/most are expecting 9-10 wins. So 4 of 7 east teams are expecting at least 10 wins this fall.

That was the last win before the LONG losing streak got started... Kentucky beat Florida 10 to 3 on November 15, 1986..

QB was Bill Ransdell - who ironically was the son of my 7th and 8th Grade English Teacher and one of my favorite teachers from Jr. High.

Mrs. Ransdell taught an English class I took in the mid '70's at North Hardin High School. Always a kind lady.

KY has Georgia at home in November this season. Be nice to have a night game with cold temps.

How do you define Southern? I would define it as either someone who ascribes to the gentile Southerner culture/caricature or someone who wishes the South won the war. As a Floridian by birth and someone who has resided in Jacksonville, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and now Tampa, I can say that you are mistaken. The majority (land mass not population) is occupied by folks who share a culture with the Dixie belt.

The panhandle, which is affectionately known as Floribama, is Alabama in every sense and every county north of Tampa and Orlando, including Jacksonville, is as Southern/Red/Reb as any of the other states in the South. South of the Orlando/Tampa corridor it slowly transitions to more northern transplants, until you get to Broward and Dade counties where it is a mix of NY/NJ and Caribbean/South American and where Spanish is the predominate language. So it clearly depends on what area of Florida you are talking about and most of the state fits the definition.

Could be though. As recently as 2019, on November 13th it was 12 degrees. Of course it was 78 degrees in 2020. One of the coldest games I went to was Vanderbilt in November. Welcome to Kentucky.

You must be young and don’t remember UF playing in cold weather here. It was a big deal to them. UK even changed sides of the field to put UF in the shade all day. It did play mind games on UF. They almost always come and play UK in hot weather. Those boys hardly ever play in cold weather. I think it is TB or Miami that have stats where they really go down in win % when they play in cold weather. That doesn’t take into account us going down there and playing in a sauna.

Everyone got so upset when we lost the "cold weather" advantage to Florida. Turns out all we needed to do was be a good football team to beat Florida.

Agreed. Everyone wants to correlate the losing streak to moving the game up in the season. The real reason that streak got started was Bill Curry and Steve Spurrier. Sure the streak started a couple seasons before they were hired but we were still competitive with them at that time. After the Curry/Spurrier hiring we weren't competitive again until Stoops.
