Agree but he should have been shooting 3's instead of layups late. They didn't have that kind of time.
Gut Check win for a team/coach/staff that haven't been there. Martin has-but not this team. You usually have to win like this at least 1 time in this Tournament to win it all and credit the Gators for figuring it out and stepping up.
UConn played about as well as they have all year in terms of being locked in defensively--but that token pressure had them start their offense late and wore down Diarra.
Imagine winning a 2 pt game when you give up 6 pts in the last seconds of each Half on 3's. That's big time W for the Gators who overcame a poor 32 minutes to figure it out and win.

To be fair, that foul on Florida with 10 seconds or so left (the botched inbound) should've been a foul on UConn #10 for slapping the piss out of the Florida player's arm. No call. Hard to believe that the refs didn't see something so egregious.
Well Walter Clayton doesn't foul when he did--McNeeley would've taken at least 3 more seconds off the clock just putting up a shot and not even knowing what type of shot it would be. Cals can be disputed and plays can all game. Make 70% of your FT's and game was over. Not like UF wasn't getting to the FT line-they just were bricking FT's too.
You have to ignore officiating. It's about the players on the court making plays over course of duration of the game. Crying/whining is never going to change the call so it's wasted time and feeds to your players.
UF was mentally tough today and figured out how to win a game UConn made them fight to win.
I'm not disputing any of that. Florida committed stupid fouls and they missed way too many free throws. I'm just saying that foul was egregious on top of everything else.
Fine. Play through it and make good passes/plays. At some point it's not about officials. Everything on this site is about refs all the damn time and gets old. This isn't about you JPFisher either so apologize if it comes off that way but at some point your level of play brings officials calls/lack of calls into the game and UF pissed away 32 mins of the 40 to make little things hurt them.
I didn't take it as a personal attack. I don't think we have opinions that differ all that much on this topic. Blaming refs is easy because we have a much better view than they do and the benefit of instant replays showing their mistakes. Refs are a very human problem added into a human game.
That said, I don't recall a team that fouled less in OOC play get hit as hard in conference. Could be the increased level of competition or something else. We definitely have a lot of flopping and kicking on threes in-conference.
Florida played tight and scared, but they still played well enough to win. I'd love for refs to not contribute to the outcome of a game, but when they do make a mistake, it comes out as bitching about the refs.
I get that it is tiring, and I do apologize if I contributed to it. It's just frustrating.
