Flex your muscles: Good or Bad?

Spontaneous celebration is great after a big play but when it becomes gratuitous I think it is a little silly. In skals case I think he was just happy to have something go well.

As most things, great when your team does it, not so great when the other team does it. It is nauseating in the NFL. Every play, someone acts like he is coming out for a curtain call.

If montrezl did it people would say it's terrible...a uk player, opinions vary. Chalk me up in the who gives a ish category.

Same thing with Cam newton...ppl lose their minds. But discount double check or Marshawn lynch "holdin my nuts"...silence.

I don't really care if they flex, showboat, celebrate, etc. What I don't like is taunting. That's like UL level. I'm glad we don't do that. At least from what I remember.

The flexing from Skal and Willis is probably a celebration instead of taunting , they are just happy to be having success . It doesn't bother me and I'm behind whatever Cal tolerates , now if we're losing then flexing should be off .

My favorites are in football...a running back gaining a first down or a wr making a catch and jumping up with some gesture and yet they are down 4 TD's with 2 minutes left in the game...

What's your thought on "showboating" in a game? We were talking at work today about a kid in junior high last night who made one three pointer and he was stirring something in an imaginary bowl in his hand. Do all players get a pass? Or just the better ones?

A player is hammered for half the season about being tough and when he starts acting tough, even if you don't like the flexing, people are eagerly ready to criticize the kid which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Leave the kid alone. If flexing makes him feel better about himself and gives him confidence, let the kid flex.

I didn't say anything about him. Just curious what people thought. I like the flexing on a time out or a ball out but in skals case, he was flexing when he should have sprinted back. I'm sure cal didn't like it as well.

I wouldn't do it, there are other ways of feeling good and showing it, like letting your play do all the talking, I especially wouldn't do it if I were Skal when everybody knows about his struggles. If he is going to do that, get ready for opposing players to do it back when they dunk on him or something, if he can dish it out he better be able to take it.

Except for it was on an and 1, so since he was going to the free throw line, there wasn't defense for him to be getting back on.
He did that about twice and I think that was when he was heading back to the other end of the floor.

2 things:

1.) It depends when you do it. Don't do it when the ball is still live and you should be running back on defense or a fastbreak. You look ridiculous. And I'm surprised he didn't he get pulled.

2.) it also depends who does it. Don't flex your muscles while being out rebounded by guards or getting out muscled on a regular basis. Just play your game.

If an opposing player did that to us, we'd feel a lot differently about them and in would come the "classless" or "thug" comments.

When I was around 20 I could flex. I can still flex but the difference can't be seen now....though, "I can still out-crow anything in the barnyard".....

I understand why guys flex and such. It can be fun depending on who does it. You must be a master of the craft, in my opinion. It's like there are certain comedians who can pull off a certain joke and do it well while anyone else telling it would seem ridiculous or even offensive. Skal and his flexing...I dunno, it's kinda silly but I understand he's just trying to find some confidence.

Charles Hurt, yes
Andre Riddick, no
K. Azubuike, yes
Mark Curry, no
Bam, hell yes
Skal, surprisingly yes (for the laugh)

What does the gesture that fans make with thumb and forefinger circled and holding up to eye like looking through it mean

I don't know, if Cousins had done it over and over, maybe it would have looked bad. But having a skinny 7 footer do it a couple of times was kind of funny. At least we knew he was feeling better about his game.

That's good, it shows you're confident
No, that's bad, it shows you're cocky.
No, that's good. It let's you blow off steam.
No, that's bad. It shows lack of self control.
No, that's good. It shows the other team you can dominate.
No,that's bad. They can see how insecure you are....Archie and Roy at the barbershop.

Good. Any type of showboating or taunting that we do is awesome and I want to see more of it. When we get up on KU I hope some of our players taunt the crowed and look into the crowed and throw up the 3 goggles on every made 3.

I want us to do that kinda thing all the time. I want every other fan base to hate us, and I want us to be the arrogant, cocky, unstoppable evil empire!!!!!!!! Or...."The bad guys" That's what I want.

We are already hated by most teams and their fans. I just want to see the ball go in the basket !

LOL yeah that too. I want to win and have that swag. Remember the Wall, Cousins team when we beat Mississippi State at Starkville and the fans we're so mad they were throwing stuff at our players after the game. Several of our guys were throwing up their hands taunting the crowed as they were walking back to the locker room.
