Five-star PG Frank Jackson will make his college announcement on Tuesday.

K won't be able to keep all those stars happy with PT. He won't platoon like you saw Cal do last year for the good of the kids and you can take that to the bank. He will play his top 7 or 8 guys unless there is foul trouble. Hell, Duke only had 10 scholarship players to begin the season with last year and 2 of them transferred. Duke fans can say he's recruited the best talent for 30 years, which is true. Recruiting them and keeping them happy are two entirely different things. I'm pretty sure Plumlee and Jefferson were McDonald's All Americans and they didn't get much run last year unless there was foul trouble. I guess we will see....
Exactly. Having all the talent in the world guarantees absolutely nothing when it comes to college sports. You have to have talent to win big, however, there's such a thing as having too much.

Coach K prefers to play a tight 7 man rotation. He rarely plays 8 guys.

Perfect scenario for them to keep everyone happy:

Thornton and Ingram go pro after one.

Sign Jackson, Tatum, and Giles.

Starters
G Jackson
G Allen
G Jones
F Tatum
F Giles

Key Reserves
G Kennard
F Jeter
F Obi

Nobody wasting away on the bench. Nobody has to transfer.

They are still most likely Preseason Number One.

That would be the perfect scenario but we don't live in a perfect world. I look for Duke to sign more than three guys.

Jefferson got plenty of run. Not sure where that is coming from?

Totally agree. If you have the NCAA, ESPN, and the refs in your back pocket, then you really don't need all the talent in the world. Easy seeding here, a few calls there. Next thing you know you have a certain team undeserving of a national championship.

If having a bad season, just pull a "bad back" so that the losses don't affect your record total as a coach.

Not talking about anyone in particular. Just putting out a scenario where talent doesn't matter.

Because it's consistently active with lots of posters and discussions.

I actually find a correlation between a team's on-the-court or recruiting successes and whether their fans post here or not.

I suspect had Duke not won a national title last year, there would be considerably less Duke fans on this message board.

In fact, I'm certain of it.

I wasn't posting at the time, but before Cal arrive there seem to have been alot of UNC fans on this board. Now you don't see hardly any except that drive-by poster here or there.

I get why so many Duke fans would sign up and post frequently on a UK board.
Can't speak for everyone else, but I didn't have to create a separate account to post here. Nor was my Rivals account created for the specific purpose of posting over here.

It's the offseason. People are bored and want to talk hoops. Naturally they're going to gravitate to where the most discussion is.

My history with Duke basketball goes back to 1982 when my buddy from Whitehall, Ohio, 7'2" Martin Nessley committed to Duke. And Duke basketball in 1982 was nothing for a bandwagon fan to jump on (11-17 in 1981). Went to see Martin play several times in Cameron and became good friends with his roommate Tommy Amaker, who went on to because K's top assistant. Back before the internet, I was coaching some AAU ball in it's infancy and would let Tommy know of some players from Ohio and surrounding states I came across that would be interested in playing basketball at Duke (Jimmy Jackson from Toledo,Jason Collier from Springfield, Adam Wolfe from Westerville, Greg Paulus from Syracuse, Jawad Williams from Cleveland, ect...ect...) and became a friend of the program. Over the years became friends/acquantainances with Steve Wojo, Chris Collins and Jon Scheyer.

Not a huge fan of OSU football but respect the job Urban Meyer is doing.

I don't see what the big deal is here. Krzyzewski gets a commitment from a good basketball player. Duke is a desirable basketball program. Some people are so fixated on class rankings, even on incomplete class rankings, that they have totally forgotten recruiting is only a means to an end. Calipari and Krzyzewski will both sign great classes. Then we will see which team gets it done on the court.

Fact. Both of our teams will be stacked. Too bad we don't play each other every season. Ya'll should drop your series with UNC** and schedule us for an annual showdown.

That would be good, but it would have to be on a neutral floor every year, since neither coach seems to be a big fan of the home and home series.

Maybe a series played in Atlanta?

Would love to see that in Atlanta. Or MSG/Brooklyn.

That said, this is merely a pipe dream. I think the Champions Classic is the closest we're going to get to a regular series between these schools.

LMAO at all of the bandwagon Dukies that I have never seen before. Is that four or five Duke fans who created their handle in 2015? I've seen TUL before the championship, but I haven't seen the others. Ohio State and Duke? Very nice. Outside of Neue Regal and TUL, we never had Duke fans come and visit, until the championship, and now this board is infested with Dukies, WTF?
