Clocked in at 202 yesterday. Goal was 200 but now that we're here, 210 may be the play?
Being in a caloric surplus is a damn chore. Been tracking macros 90% of the time even through the holidays and I can get to 2800-2900, but several programs
@anthonys735 shared say at my current weight, need to be taking in 3600-3800 calories. LOL, not going to happen.
After a shaky start with a personal training in early November, she's been a great addition to the routine. 2 days a week scheduled with her and she scripts the other two days I lift. Goal was to increase barbell bench press, which is a lift I haven't focused on in 20 years, instead doing dumbbell and hammer strength for the compound movements. Got up to working sets of 245 and tweaked my left shoulder, so throttling back on the straight bar for a few weeks.
This gym is the first place I've seen / used
Arsenal gym equipment. Has a much more natural ROM feel than Hammer Strength. Big fan.
Had been having issues with my left sciatic for 4 or 5 months and tried all kinds of mobility work, ice baths, bands, stretches, etc. Nothing provided more than minor, temporary relief. A tri-athlete at MPower recommended checking out The Royal Method Thai Massage. Went in with little optimism, expecting it to be just like any other soft-handed massage. 100% the opposite. For an 1.5 hours this 150# dude bends and contorts your appendages in all manner of movement I didn't know possible. At one point he's walking on my back, using a walker to provide him with balance as he alternates between his left & right. Had my spine and hips pop more that one session than all previous chiropractor and massage visits combined. Zero issues with the sciatic since, even after heavy leg days like today. Will be a regular in the therapeutic rotation.
