Fellow Bengals fans......

Are you more excited for the Chiefs game on Sunday than the Citrus Bowl Saturday?

I kind of am. And I am F!@#ING pumped for the Citrus Bowl. But this Chiefs game is huge.

What a glorious weekend and New Year we have in store.

Welcoming Tubby home and retiring his name to the Rafters.
Coach Stoops and the boys take over the Citrus Bowl.
Burrow in a wild west gunslinger battle with Mahomes.

Sh!t I'm excited.
I am more excited anytime UK plays.

Not a Bengals fan, but watched the game and wondered...

...while I admired the guts of going for it on 4th down and 6-inches-to-go, not sure it was the right move AND did it actually show a little disrespect of your own defense not to just take the easy 3 pts and then count on your defense's ability to keep the Chiefs from a TD with under a minute to go?

UH, NO. Not even close. I love the bengals but my love for the bengals isn't even on the same radar screen as my love for UK. I'm on cloud 9 after the bowl game so i wasn't going to let the bengals ruin it (though I'm THRILLED that the bengals won and are going back to the playoffs!)

KC could pull off a miracle in that amount of time. I would have gone for it too.

Defense was getting torched though, they did better in the second half but against a guy like Mahomes I think u go for it, first time anyway second time maybe not so much lol.

I guess Chase ended up being the right pick (I was against that lol).
Still a tough call as Joe is banged up, again. Limping at the end of the game. Even knowing how truly great Chase is I still think trading down and getting Rashawn Slater (already a pro bowl starter) to protect Joe plus another high draft pick or picks was still a better move.

I didn't want to stay in that pick and take Sewell or Chase, I wanted to trade down and get Slater and I still like it.

The Bengals are a 5 win team right now without Ja’Marr Chase. Taking Chase is undisputedly the right decision. They hit a home run on that pick. He’s a game changer. Bengals didn’t need a tackle. You don’t draft a guard in the top 10.

So you don't know what "trade down" means? Slater went #13 and he is a pro bowl starter already.
I know what trade down means. What were the offers the Bengals got to trade down? Unlikely they get a pick valuable enough to give away Chase. Slater is a pro bowler at a position the Bengals didn’t need. The Bengals won the AFC North in large part because of Ja’Marr Chase. They don’t get a playmaker like him with the 3rd rounder they’d get back for trading down.

Hard to not root for Burrow. Kid is going to be a HOFer, I believe. What he’s been able to do in one full season is pretty awesome. I guess Chase ended up being the right pick (I was against that lol).
Burrow will bolt as soon as he’s eligible.

I don't think so. Joe is an Ohio kid. I knew as soon as we drafted him he'd get hurt and like a trooper he has took a beating that has already cost him at least part of his career.

Bill Belichick said you block up and give your QB enough time and when he plays well you win. Football really is that simple. Protecting Joe should have been #1 priority since the day he was drafted.

I love Chase. I said when he was drafted he was a great pick, but I think protecting Joe should have been top priority as I want him back there for the next 10 years.

Chase is probably RoY and is doing stuff that hasn't been done since Randy Moss.

The Bengals chose wisely.

We address the O-line this offseason and draft and who stops this offense?
There are some GREAT offensive linemen up there on the board especially out of the SEC. Neal at Alabama will be the first one taken but then there's Cross (I would trade up for this guy), EcWonu, and Raiman that are all high first rounders or at least 1st rounders. We get any of those (especially Cross) and we'll be set. The latest Mock I saw had us taking G Kenyon Green out of A&M and that would be great, too.

I'd be very happy with a Cross pick if he's there. Or Kinnard. Or Linderbaum. Maybe trade up to get one early in the second if any are still there. Shore up that O-line and we're onto something.

The secondary is also going to really need some additions.

Joe was the most sacked QB in the league this year coming off a devastating injury the year before. Offensive linemen don't sell tickets but we've got to protect him as he is the single most valuable sporting asset in the history of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bengals are gonna lose to KC and then to Cleveland the following week. Bengals are a fraud.

Go Browns !!

I agree the protection has to improve but they absolutely got the 5th pick right by drafting Chase. It’s not even a debate worth having at this point.

They will attract some free agents this off-season. I’d rather see them sign proven vets opposed to swinging in the draft.

the order in which my sporting love falls

1 - UK MBB and FB (100% equal)
2 - Bengals
3 - all other UK sports
4 - Reds
5 - fishing shows

the Bengals need to win 1 of 2 games to lock down a playoff spot without any help

The Bengals are the first team in NFL history with a 4000 yard passer, a 1000 yard rusher, and two 1000 yard receivers in the same season… all under the age of 25. They did that in 15 games.

They will become a FA destination with a young core for years to come. Burrow isn’t going anywhere.

It took Joe Burrow just 26 games to win perhaps the most competitive division in football. Like you said, the young offensive core is under 25. What team in the league has a better set of offensive weapons than the Bengals?

They have a ton of cap space. The Bengals are one of the most attractive free agent destinations in the league. Joe Burrow isn’t going to leave because the Bengals sucked in the 90’s. Their contending window is just now opening.

Good grief. Chase is breaking records left and right. Going to the Pro bowl. May win ROY. And you think they should have taken Slater.
Take up something you know something about.

FA this year should be all about the O-line. Every position but Jonah and maybe Hopkins should be addressed.

But Chase is and was the right pick without question.

They’ve got a couple younger guys that may solidify the line a bit. I’m hoping one of Carman and Adeniji will become a starter at guard. I’d love to draft Kinnard in the draft to replace Reiff at RT in the future. Kinnard could be a guard in the pros as well. Could also sign another lineman.

In free agency, I’d love for them to get 2 more d line pieces and have the best in the league. In my perfect world we’d get someone like Akiem Hicks and then another pass rusher. That d line would be filthy. With our offense being high powered, I’d love to have an elite pass rush so in games where Burrow and the offense get a lead the pass rushers can wreak havoc.

He’s doesn’t like Cincinnati. Your best hope is he gets married and has a kid soon. Otherwise I just can’t see him playing there long term. Hope I’m wrong. God knows Cincy deserves some good football.
