Don't let points fool you. Davis shot 1/10 against Kansas but completely dominated the game. Raw stats: 6 pts, 16 rebs (4 offensive), 6 blocks, 5 assists (led the team), 3 steals.
But raw stats don't really tell the story. He played 36 minutes.
*When on the floor, he was grabbing 34% of the defensive rebounds.
*For the game, Kansas scored 59 on 68 possessions, good for 0.87 points per possession. Davis' defensive rating (points per 100 possessions) was 66 - Kansas score 0.66 points per possession when Davis was on the floor. That says Kansas could have 100 possessions with Davis on the floor and still just score 66. Think about that. We won with 67 points on 68 possessions. THINK about that.
*He blocked over 13% of the 2 point shots taken by Kansas, and altered many more.
*As such, Kansas shot a season low 33% on 2 pointers, and only 44% on layups and dunks. That's horrible. Davis was forcing them to take bad shots even when he wasn't blocking them. They shot 53% for the year on twos, btw.
We didn't play our best on offense, but the defense absolutely saved us, and he was the biggest part of that. It really shows how a rim protector can change the game.
