With two disastrous seasons in a row and zero hope for next year...it is time for Mingione and his staff to be fired. NO excuses. Do what is right for the FANS for a change! We have become a laughing stock!!!

Pitching has given up 11 runs on 13 hits and our hitters have struck out 14 times today!!!Agree

Henderson about made the baseball program irrelevant,Mingione had one good season, then two greatly underachieving ones. The irony is all the “good” players drafted, more than any other team the last two years. Something doesn’t add up.Attendance and interest will return, when the team resembles a competent SEC baseball team!
You've (MB) got to have a little for site here as AD and know that this ship is sinking fast and that next year is only going to bring on more water...time to cut bait. This is a grand idea. The problem is there’s not enough big fan support to warrant a change. Look at who posts on this board compared to the football/basketball boards. Look at the attendance in comparison. Look at the support by the local media. Baseball is a drop in the bucket for Mitch and company. Minge won’t be fired two years after a super. He should be, but won’t happen.
Come on Jeff...you are smart enough to look at this roster and tell that there may be 1/2 SEC players on the roster for next season...he dosen't deserve more time. And the replacing of JP after only three was the right move.Half of those good players were pitchers when it mattered most last year. This season has been a trainwreck, but last year was simply misfortune. Nobody should hold it against him.
He'll get more time. Mitch doesn't make hasty decisions (see the farrrrrrrr Brooks, farrrrrrrr Stoops posts in the past). But they have to look like a better baseball team next season. I'm not sure how they'll do that, but it becomes a real dilemma if they don't.

Why should it take a scandal? You've invested over 50 million in a product , you would think he would want to protect it?! Time is now!Like I said, I'm not sure how they go about doing it, but he'll be given the opportunity. Anyone who knows Mitch Barnhart knows it's a complete waste of time talking about firing him, barring some sort of scandal.

Yep, with all of the money invested in the program lack of facilities is no longer a valid excuse. The program is obviously headed in the wrong direction and something needs to be done, however, Mitch will give this guy another couple of years. Why should it take a scandal? And he has had EVERY advantage he needed to recruit with except the weather and using Vandy , U6 and Indiana as examples you can throw that out the window!Concerning, that it seems Mingione can’t replace Henderson’s players, with ones as good or better. Without the SEC caliber talent this coaching staff won’t survive. I hope Ming makes it,but it doesn’t look good ,with the evidence of this seasons fiacos!
By then we'll be completely under water especially since there are some e excellent candidates out there right now.Yep, with all of the money invested in the program lack of facilities is no longer a valid excuse. And Shinn is gone after next Sunday . So what does that tell you?Henderson obviously wasn’t the best head coach in the world but he could identify and develop talent. Outside of Shinn name one player Mingione and staff recruited who has improved. The answer is ZERO.
And ALL the players were recruited by Henderson's staff.Henderson about made the baseball program irrelevant,Mingione had one good season, then two greatly underachieving ones. There is absolutely zero excuse for any SEC school to not be competitive in baseball. The conference is solid from top to bottom and that alone should be a selling point for recruiting. And he has had EVERY advantage he needed to recruit with except the weather and using Vandy , U6 and Indiana as examples you can throw that out the window!
Jeff: I agree with you assessment that Barnhart will not pull the plug this year. However, considering the money involved in KPP and the fact that fan ninterest can be revived if UK had a top flight coach heading the program anything is possible. Next year becomes Mingione's most critical year. Another poor season will definetly doom Mingione. He has to address the weaknesses .of his coaching staff.I feel Belanger should be fired because some of the guys that had promising summer ball seasons regressed once they started their Sophmore year at UK.Like I said, I'm not sure how they go about doing it, but he'll be given the opportunity. I hope next year turns around this program, but I just don't see it with the roster makeup. I think you are throwing away another year by waiting.Jeff: I agree with you assessment that Barnhart will not pull the plug this year. However, considering the money involved in KPP and the fact that fan ninterest can be revived if UK had a top flight coach heading the program anything is possible. Especially after the start of last season. Personally, I thought we should have made the tournament last season but the team really did not play well down the stretch.Totally disagree. Missing the tournament last year is a huge black mark on his resume.
Needless to say the off season should be interesting! My guess is no changes will be made , next season will be worse than this one so an entire season that could've been spent rebuilding this disaster will have been wasted.
This freshman class/juco’s are Really their first recruiting class and you really can’t judge them yet. Maybe you can judge the juco guys but that isn’t even fair because no matter what juco you attend, you are really just a freshman when it comes to playing in the SEC. Maybe the best knock against this coaching staff you could say would be.... if we are going to struggle, let’s struggle with the freshman and get them a year of experience. Now we have done that with the pitching staff and you see ups and downs, which is what you would expect right? Pretty much the entire staff except ZT is comprised of freshman and a couple sophomores. You see what you would expect out of them.... great outings and then bad outings.. go to the 2 sophomore starters:
Hazelwood: a few really good starts and a couple clunkers
Ramsey: a few really good starts and then some clunkers
Freshman:
Marsh: for a freshman, way more good than bad... could be a really good Sunday guy the rest of the way
Relievers:
Sophomores:
Trip: probably more really good outings than bad but they come and go... this years experience should help
Coleman: has had some lights out appearances and then a couple that haven’t gone well but this years experience I believe will be huge
Harper: once again has had some great outings but when he comes in on short rest seems to struggle, if we had a few more guys where we didn’t have to throw him 3 innings on Friday and then try to throw him again Sunday, his outcomes and stats would be much better.
Jordan: coming back from TJ, getting back is harder mentally than physically... kid has extreme talent and a full year of summer ball should help(technically a freshman)
Freshman:
Cole Ayers: has looked really good in several outings and then a couple clunkers which is a typical freshman that should develop into more of a role.
Cole Daniels: pretty good looking lefty that can get lefties and righties out. Would think his role would expand
Braxton Cottongame: velo has increased throughout the year and this years experience should help for next year.
Fielders:
Shultz: looks like he can hit at this level, probably a future second baseman
Trae Harmon: kid takes in the fall and sprung but was stuck behind some players... should be interesting next year
Rook: should be a good defender and has speed, probably should have been given some time to get experience in the middle of the year knowing this was a rebuilding year
Olson: redshirted due to injury but was a gatorade player of the year.. should add talent
Adams: power guy that when we saw him was playing with out seeing live pitching for weeks so another wild card
I know there are a few more, but I am tired of typing and just want to say that when you say there are NO sec players on this team, just remember that very few of the staffs “first class” have even played. Maybe that is the biggest flaw.... that they brought in the JUCO guys rather than take their lumps and let the freshman get experience???
Just my 2 cents... let the ripping begin
Proof is in the pudding as they say...Just don't t see the talent you're talking about. Best post I've read this season. Thanks for the thought you put into it. Building and maintaining a program at the SEC level takes time. Look where Georgia was 5 years ago when Stricklin took the job. I scratch my head at many of the decisions the staff has made this year. From taking strikes, to baserunning, pitching changes, and even defensive alignment. But I think Mingione deserves 2 more years and then evaluate. The 2020 recruiting class is currently ranked 14 by Perfect Game. Most 'experts' on this site will disagree and that's OK. I've had tickets for 14 years now and believe me, I get aggravated watching this team play. My hope is that it's due to growing pains and the Freshmen pitchers will be much better as Sophomores. This freshman class/juco’s are Really their first recruiting class and you really can’t judge them yet. Excellent observation and point. Hopefully, they would want to make the SEC so the season wouldn't t be a total embarrassmentI went to the Friday night & Sunday games of the Carolina series this weekend. All I will say is that there are a few players that have checked out already & they are not the seniors.
Second part is that some of these players have no clue what their role on the team is. Am I a reliver? Starter? etc....
Lack of abundance of talent along with lack of coaching of techniques gets you to 7-20 in conference play.
I will also add, that I am not sure who handles the hitting portion of our offense, but we have a couple players that have way to many strike outs & hitting below .225 One player in particular, who is an everyday player, has fanned 68 times this season in only 130 abs. That is almost half the time, he wiffs!! You should be able to bring a broom handle to the plate an make some kind of contact. As a meaure, no one player on the Carolina line up has fanned more that 40 times.

68 times in 130 AB's? That's worse than Drew Stubbs who used to play for the Reds. Anything over 18% in College Baseball is not good for a hit.rI will also add, that I am not sure who handles the hitting portion of our offense, but we have a couple players that have way to many strike outs & hitting below .225 One player in particular, who is an everyday player, has fanned 68 times this season in only 130 abs.
