Fan thrown out of Rupp (sign)

Can't imagine the blue coats are happy right now either. Most of those guys have probably been UK fans for 50+ years.

If he curls up in the fetal position outside of the arena the NCAA will expunge the loss from his attendance record.

Cal's ego is softer than the ice cream his fat ass laps up by the truckload...

If he got kicked out for that sign it’s pathetic. Nothing vulgar, nothing offense. It’s just Cal being a tyrant and getting his delicate feelings (he doesn’t listen though…) hurt. Get the duck out, Calipari. I don’t care where you go. Kick me out though, little ego who can’t coach basketball.

It’s just the crazies on RR I thought?!?

😂😂😂

"Kentucky basketball spokesman Deb Moore said afterward the man was given the choice of putting the sign away but refused and chose to leave."

Bravo sir. For the GA game tons should bring in TX signs. Chaos.

I thought Rupp Corporation owned it

I did assume since it’s a public university and staff including Cal are State employees, that the facility is State owned. I may be wrong. They do receive State funding in some way so our tax dollars are in Rupp. I was a State employee for 11 years till 2022 when I tried to blow the whistle down here in Paducah for abuse of public funds and violations of the State bidding process. This hits close to home for me.

If you're really dedicated.. buy a ticket and do the same for the next home game. They will toss you out but it will likely go viral and make its way to sports sites on social media (that's where I saw this photo first).

It's a sure fire way to bring attention to what is going on.

Cal will be stuck in this situation. He'll choose to kick these fans out, but it basically gives them the attention.

I was in Section 32 about halfway up. He was in Row D, and about four seats to my left. I tried to take a picture of the sign before he was escorted out. He was fairly young with glasses and fairly long hair (for a male). No doubt that Cal saw it, because he put it up when the team came out for the second half. And yes, I did boo. Steph Curry is ridiculous; he came to Lexington, put on #5 for South Carolina, then went out West to play the NBA game against the Suns. How does he do that?

Rupp arena receives funding from tax payer dollars and is owned by the “Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.”

This was 100% a violation of that man’s first amendment rights. And even so he complied with security and officers and agreed to leave the building. And they abused their power and put hands on him as he was leaving because he held it up one more time while exiting.

His sign did NOT advocate or call to action any violence which are the only forms of speech not protected by the first amendment.

Not directed at either of you: For the first time in my life today I scrolled Twitter (I’ve never liked the site/app personally) hoping to see UK fans defending this man’s right to do this, even if they disagreed with the spirit of it (just like I support your right to kneel for the flag even though I think it’s disrespectful). I was quickly reminded why I don’t have a Twitter. I don’t know why so many people live in a country whose very fabric they apparently abhor.

Exactly why I abhor Twitter and never even created an account.

Unless there is a specific rule for UK games that no signs are allowed, then they really shouldn't have done that. It's a very bad look. And I know the students have signs so I'm pretty sure there isn't a specific rule.

I think next year they will have lower arena with a little help from TJ.

Absolutely pathetic on UKs part.
I can't stand Calipari and wish he would have left already. But yeah, as an athletic program you can't allow a dude in the Rupp stands to sit there holding up that sign. Chances are good he was going to hoist it up during every dead ball and time out, and probably was going to walk around the concourse during halftime while holding it up. It looks bad tossing him from Rupp. IMO it looks worse if he's allowed to stay and continue holding up his sign [and invite copy cat agents of change].
