"Experts" Now Say UK Possibly Losing Grip on Bol & Langford

Langford won't be a cat according to everyone in Southern Indiana basketball. He is third after Cal has made his priority 1. Barrett, 2. Reddish. Barrett looks likely to commit shortly after his reclassification is official. HIGHLY doubt that any of these 3 will attend the same school. Barrett committing should signal the end of Reddish's recruitment along with Langford's chance at UK. I almost wish Barrett stayed in next years class. That way Cal can make Reddish his #1 priority while having Barrett locked up for next year.

Bol was such a lock to UK that it makes me wonder if Cal is liking his chances with Zion more and more.

All in my completely worthless opinion, as always.

Im sorry. I'm just sick of seeing this. If you say you "could" care less, then that implies that you're somewhat intrigued.... because after all, you "could" care a little bit less then you do at this moment.

You COULDNT care less is what you meant. I make grammar mistakes too and I am not perfect, but this is an easy one.

You'll thank me later
He's retarded, it's okay to let special ppl on message boards too

Want to break down "fine as frog hair and colder than a witches titty for us too? It is a saying, albeit a grammatically incorrect saying if you view it as a literal sentence; it is still a saying and people know what it means. View it as "that dog won't hunt". Nobody is literally saying that a dog will not hunt, but people get the point of the intent.

Who knows, maybe it originated as a sarcastic remark and isn't grammatically incorrect at all but is just taken out of context by grammar Nazis.

Easiest saying to get right and over 50% of people can NOT get it right.. Aggrevates the hell outa me.. Don't care whom I piss off by saying this.. LEARN IT..

Agree. I also cringe every time I see....We should of recruited him...instead of, We should have recruited him. People get mixed up by the contraction that is pronounced "should've" and they don't realize it is a contraction for should have.
Drives me nuts. As for Bol and Langford, I am not sold on Bol. I think he will get pushed around in college. Langford is good, but he may have hit his ceiling, and other guards in the class may passing him. Plus, who is to say that his back may not be a recurring problem?

Top. Men.

Not sure Langford ever really had his heart set on being a cat.

Link
Bol is so skinny that playing stronger players could become a problem. The good is while his talent makes him OAD, his body may make him a 2AD or even 3AD. Needs physical maturity.

Well, yeah, I'm sure anyone would happily take 3 of the top 5 players in the class. Haha. Would love, love, love, two of those first 3. All three of them would be an absolute dream class.
I think Langford was sacrificed to showcase Reddish. If Langford was along shot, no reason to give him playing time unless he was better than Reddish for the U19.

I really have no clue how this class will turn out but I feel pretty good that between Langford, Reddish, Barrett, Williamson, & King that we get 2 of em.

Agree with you about Bol. Nearly every HS player is in for some kind of shock when he goes against collegiate defenses, but I think there's a strong possibility that it's much more acute for Bol. Bol was not really all that dominant at Mater Dei last season, with his breakout being based almost entirely on his play in the EYBL, then was left off the u19 team. The EYBL is a nice showcase of top talent, better organized and coached than most AAU stuff, but defense still tends to be pillow soft. I'm not so sure that Bol will be such a force when he's running into 21 year old guys who are 6'9"+ 250 lbs of muscle, playing organized, disciplined defense.

Also agree about Langford. He's very talented, but 2 other similar guys that UK has a very good shot at are clearly better. UK can't really prioritize him, and that almost certainly means UK isn't going to get him.

I don't think it should come as a shocker with Bol. I like the kid's game, but with his size and skillset, does he really want to sign somewhere that likes to get up and down the court? Maybe in the end he decides to and signs with Kentucky, but after watching this kid in clips, he just doesn't look like a kid Cal usually recruits to play in his frontcourt. With Langford, I hope this is just false information so not many will think it's Kentucky during his announcement. This kid does look the part of a Cal backcourt player. If the kid doesn't sign with Kentucky, It means he signs with a school we might have to play in the NCAA tourney and with this kid's talent level, that ain't something we will want to see.
He handles the ball pretty well as well as runs the floor. He is not Dakari Johnson. If we are fading and that is a big if with either than it is Cal pulling back not the other way around. Come on Langford was playing a lot the first couple of games of the U19. Why would an injury make him sour on UK?

You take Barrett over Langford every day and Sunday. Reddish can play 2.

I know you are waaayy more into the recruiting side. You nailed it.

There is no reason why Reddish and Barrett can't play side to side. For shit's sake we started Ulis, Murray, and Briscoe together.

We'll see.

Lots of shaking out to do in the summer. It's when Kobi Simmons was a lock and we had stopped recruiting Vanderbilt because he was TCU bound.

The Bagley reclassifying/USC rumors are likely to turn things upside down anyway. No way to know what that does to our pursuit of Bol, Zion, Reid, Brown, Shittu and even guys like King and Johnson on the wing that are waiting for offers.

Let's see what things look like in August.

I still say the class plays out as following:

UK lands 2 of Bol, Bagley, and Zion
UK lands Quickly and King
UK lands 1 of Reddish and Barrett
UK lands one of Reid, M. Brown, and J. Brown
UK lands a multi-year project that Cal finds in the Spring

With Diallo, Knox, Vanderbilt, PJ, and Richards all looking like OADs, the chances of losing another 1-2 to either a transfer or the NBA, and currently having 2 open scholarships, I expect at least a 7 man class. As of the information going around right now, 5 of those scholarships will be going to either Bol, Bagley, Zion, Quickly, King, Reddish, or Barrett. I think another 1 will go to an extra big man like Reid, M. Brown, or J. Brown and Cal will offer a player in the spring that he thinks will stay for multiple years that has something that he likes about his game.

Next month, things might look extremely different. It is still so early.

All in my worthless opinion, as always.

Bol Is not a center. He is a stretch power forward he does not have the body or strength to play Down Low and try to fight out bigger body stronger guys. He is about the best shooting big man in the country. Now if he comes here and Coach Cal Parks him underneath the goal and forbids him to shoot any jump shots from 15 ft and out then yes he needs to go somewhere else. It will fail miserably with him trying to force him down low much like what Coach Cal did with labissiere

This could very well be true, but similar things were thought about Davis and that worked out fine.

So, he could go the way of Labissiere or he could be another Davis.

Also, Cal admitted he messed up with Labissiere and should have played to his strengths instead of trying to force him into the post. Cal may very well want to play Bol more as a stretch 4 on offense and shotblocking 5 on defense.

A lot yet to be determined.

What is Davis playing now? most all of Davis points came from lobs. Jones took a lot of pressure off Davis by his threat to score and he played inside a great deal.
Also Davis is no where near as tall as Bol Bol is and the taller you are the harder it is establish your leverage hip level with the other guy, especially if your over 7 feet and weight a buck 90 or what ever he is.
When you guys were drooling over Thon Maker and how he might reclassify and go to college early I watched him play in person and come on here and said no way was he ready and he was basically a 7' guard. Absolutely hated contact and you could see it in his body when his man would slam into him. His whole body looked like it was going to break in half.
Well he ended up staying in school.
I also come on here telling you guys about this cat named Jamal Murray who was an outstanding prospect. Really great player. this is when he was like 16 years old.

I watched Diallo in person and told you guys he was highly overrated. The best place for him to go would be UNC, he excels in the open court but absolutely disappears in the half court.

Agree with a lot of what you say.

Quickley and King are likely to sign.

One of Bagley, Bol, or Williamson.

One of Reddish or Barrett.

But I think at least one of Gabriel, Washington, Vanderbilt, or Richards return. We almost always have a guy or two return that everyone thinks is gone for sure, and it's going to be tough for all four to shine with splitting minutes at the 4 and 5 spots with Diallo and Knox getting most of the minutes at the 2 and 3 spots. Throw in Killeya-Jones and it's pretty crowded at those spots.

My opinion, our starters look something like this next season:

G Green or Gilgeous-Alexander
G Quickley
G Reddish or Barrett
F Washington, Vanderbilt, Gabriel, or Richards
F Bagley, Williamson, or Bol

With a bench of Gilgeous-Alexander (if Green comes back), Baker, King, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard. We probably add another player or two as well for the bench.

If we get a Washington or Richards back and they can play the Jones role, it might work.

It's out of our hands, Cal will decide what he wants and Bol has to decide what he wants.

All I know is that Cal has offered and Bol has not made a decision, so he might end up at UK.

we're gonna get Quickley, period.

if we offer King he'll be a cat also, and he may bring Reddish

In the end I think we get one of the Browns

I still think it's way too early to say that anyone is a lock or the player ain't coming here. Too much water under the bridge for anything to be a done deal either way. Besides some of these recruits have a senior year to either improve or level off, that's why Cal likes to wait.

Still think Moses Brown will be our big man. He fits the mold of what Cal goes for. Dont really care what the experts say at this stage. There is a lot of good forwards in this class and id assume we get one of the elite ones like Zion, Barrett (if he reclasses) or Reddish, and at worst Louis King or maybe Emmitt Williams. Our back court will return, add in Quickley and we have a damn good shot at a FF run again. Could see 2 of Wenyen, Richards and SKJ getting lost in the shuffle with so many front court players and staying. Im not worried about it.
