He feels like he is another freshman we get to watch since he has had such limited playing time to date.
With Skal getting attention in the middle, hopefully Marcus can do what he did against Michigan. I actually feel he could be more consistent than Poy on the offensive end of the court since he wont be driving or shooting jumpers much.
Also, love that he has good awareness to pass well.

He hasnt gotten a fair shake since he has been here...Cal pretty stubborn...may not play this year either

I don't see how that is even a plausible concern, what is he going to do to avoid it playing Lee, play Willis 15 or 20 minutes a night while Poy and Skal each clock 35?

Really, who should he have played over?

He hasn't shown an ability to shoot, dribble or be a great passer.

His free throws are atrocious and he gets lost on both ends of the floor.

How many times after we make a basket is Marcus the only one putting on a full court press?

I love the kid's energy, he can block some shots but gets eaten on the pick and roll. He looks great on put backs.

My hope is he has developed a better feel for the game in general. And, if his skills can come close to his athleticism it would be fantastic.

He needs to be afforded the luxery of playing thru his mistakes just like willie was...nobody can play well looking to the bench when the mess up....he gets 20-25 mins a game you will see his ge get better and better

But saying he didn't get a fair shake? You have not said who he should have taken minutes from.

WCS
Towns
Dakari
Randle
Lyles
Poythress

????

He has had much better players in front of him both years.

Consistency on both ends of the floor, energy, and something that resembles a shot from 15' and in will guarantee Lee playing time. His athleticism is off the charts.

You are going to get what you put in.

He will get more opportunity to play through his mistakes, but he will get the shake that he earns.

I just want to see him develop some kind of offensive game. I'm tired of seeing Uk's floor shrink all the time because of this issue. It's my biggest gripe on Cal. Recruit (or keep) more versatility to keep defenses honest, especially in the final four when everything amps up to a level past the "but they're long and athletic defenders" point.

Lee need two things and he can be a WCS clone. A Jump hook and make 65% of his free throws. He'll block shots and get his boards and steals. And of course his lobs.

When Lee tries to score, he has shown he has touch and ability. Im much more worried about Poythress on O.

Seems like we said this same exact thing about WCS before last season.

I dont know how you can say Cal has always played the ones that deserved minutes like its pure fact...thats just not true...Jared Polson may beg to differ on that...Ryan Harrow should have never played over Polson

Id given him some of Dakaris minutes this year. Especially in the Wisconsin game. Just for agility and rebounding alone.

Uh...yes he should have. Harrow is a lot better at basketball than Polson. Polson could not have went to GA ST and put up the points Harrow did, just like he would not have done as well as Harrow did in his minutes at UK either.

And your Lee point is delusional...he was the 10th man on one of the deepest teams ever this past season. Hell, the year before he was like the 8th man on the team that was more of Cal's typical rotation instead of the whole play 10 guys logic. Lee was a liability on offense, and got lost on D. You comparing him to WCS is humorous...Marcus Lee is never going to come close to #6 in the NBA Draft so apples and oranges.

The worst team we had was when Harrow was the point guard
...

He was a cancer on the team..left team several times...should have never playef

Yeah, and with Polson running the point we would have set a new all time terrible team under Coach Cal.

And so what, cancer or not...and that team had 3 of them IMO with Harrow, Goodwin and Wiltjer...you don't play those guys you probably struggle to win more than 10-15 games.

I can see that, however the way the Badgers were working the pick and roll and our switch offs I 'm afraid Marcus would have been in no man's land way too much.

Marcus will certainly have to step up his game this season . He is a good leaper though, and I expect we'll see a plenty of lobs from Ulis to Lee.

Cancer may be too hard a word for Archie and Kyle.

Kyle is a laid back player, he found a good home at Gonzaga. He was and is very well liked.

Archie was super young on a team with no direction, he tried to do too much. (Drove me crazy) I would have like to have seen Teague return and see how Archie would have played. But he hustled his butt off every game.

When Lee is engaged mentally he seems to play more smooth and fluid IMHO. At times last season he looked as if he was doing more thinking than reacting, which neutralized his athletic ability to some extent. Thinking too much can make a short jumper look like a 21 footer too imho.

I Love his natural abilities and can't wait to see him put it all together this season.

Remind Lee that must always use 2 hands on rebounds. He reverts to volleyball too much and pokes or taps the ball rather than grabs the ball. I love him, but he needs to improve.

Lee will get minutes this year. If Skal plays 30, Lee gets 10 at the 5. Poy will probably play 30 too, possibly 5-10 at the three if they want to go big, giving Lee 10-20 minutes at the four. I would estimate 25 or so minutes for Lee this year. If he uses them well, I think it could be his last.

My biggest excitement is how much all of our players improve. Not just Lee but everyone. If they can all take a huge step forward, we'll be REALLY EFFING exciting to watch. This includes Hawkins and Willis.

I think Hawkins is close to a breakout year, i'm sure he's getting to the point it'll be hard to not play him.

Poy still a long way from getting in game shape. Lee may start. If he does Lee at the 5 on offense and at the 4 on defense. Lee and Skal together will be interesting to see together because they are both so active.

Yes im a huge troll..wtf is that???? NEWSFLASH...this board in general needs to tone down the troll talk...im a huge fan and like to think outside the box...yes i have mu favorite players and would like to see Marcus get minutes..i believe he will shine
I also believe we are gonna have t give different looks on defense..cant play man to man exclusively....that in no way makes me a troll...thanks
