2010 NCAA Title
2011 Sweet 16 #1 seed Duke gets blown out by 16 points by 5 seed Arizona
2012 1st Round #2 seed Duke loses by 5 to 15 seed Lehigh
2013 Elite 8 #2 seed Duke gets hammered by 22 points to #1 seed UL
2014 1st Round #3 seed Duke loses by 7 to #14 seed Mercer
2015 NCAA Title

Looking at this we can safely predict Duke will certainly win the next 3-4 titles as many of our friends here seem to think is a foregone conclusion.

UConn has 2 titles this decade; they certainly are right there with Duke. Except for the NIT in 2010, a 1st round loss in 2012, being ineligible for the tourney in 2013, and the NIT in 2015. No doubt; UK has no shot at either of these great, consistent programs.

IMO, K is the GOAT, but Cal has a perfectly decent argument for best past 6 years. He certainly has a better past 5 years.

And if you go by average number of HS AAs or five stars on each roster, they're about the same over that time. So it's not like Cal hangs with K due to a big talent gap.

Just a thought:

Please pin this to the top... make it the place for ALL the Dook-lovers and "visitors" on this KENTUCKY WILDCATS board to post their feelings about Krybabyschitzski and the Blue Floppers.

Let's put all of that in one spot, like the political thread on The Paddock... so people can find or avoid, as they please.

My best friend is a duke fan and I gave him hell about losing to mercer and Lehigh. Also after Duke was blown out by Miami he said he was no longer a Duke fan. Then of course they won the championship so he is back on the bandwagon. he sent me a picture of him decked out in a Duke outfit at the arena they won the big game in. So for that after UK beats Duke this November I will give him hell yet again.

Gotta be honest: If you told me right now that we would win two of the next six NCAA titles but the other four years would be sub-standard -- I'd take it.

It's just too hard to win it all. I hate Duke as much as the next guy, but c'mon.

I have to agree with this. UK fans value national titles over everything...except when it does not fit our argument.

I don't think K has been better than Cal the last 6 years...I don't think Duke has been the better program over the last 6 years, but would I rather have 9 titles now instead of 8...even if we had to lose the other 2 Final Four appearances? Hell yes.

Maybe if we could swap brackets and get a cake walk every now and then we might reel off 3 in 5. Duke needs to earn it better than they've been forced to.

It's easy to say that, but the reality can be very different while it's actually happening. There is no scenario in which you can guarantee titles, and you can't know when one is going to happen.

Would you rather have been an Atlanta Braves fan from 1991 to 2005, or a Marlins fan? You'd be a fool to choose the Marlins. The Braves had a huge amount of postseason disappointments, but we're talking 15 consecutive years when they were always good, and always in the hunt. That's a whole lot of time that was incredibly exciting and enjoyable for that fan base, as opposed to the Marlins 2 lightning strike seasons mainly surrounded by garbage.

The difference between what UK and Duke have done minus titles the last 6 years isn't that dramatic, but UK still clearly has an edge (the difference between UK and UConn is close to that dramatic). If you pick what Duke has done over what UK has, that's understandable, but keep in mind that if UK manages a title before Duke, then UK clearly leaps way out in front of them. If Duke manages another title before UK, it's sad and irritating, but all you can do is wait and see what happens when they lose the only coach they've ever had who's won a title.

If losing in the title game to the eventual champs and to Wisconsin in a close one in the Final Four means that Cal can't coach or that he should focus more on winning than draft picks, I'll laugh in the face of anyone who tries to come in this thread and say they'd accept those terrible Duke loses in exchange for another title. He'd be crucified by those idiots.

Well, of course, you can't guarantee titles. That wasn't my point. People are knocking Duke's 6-year run because their NCAA tournament performance in four of those years wasn't very good.

If my choice is between 2 titles and 4 early exits OR 1 title and 5 other strong finishes -- I'll take the two titles.

I agree 100%. Won't deny it. I'm a huge anti-Duke person for several reasons, some of which were outlined yesterday.

But we need to tone down the Duke stuff, and that even includes myself. They got the easy bracket, they got the calls, they won the title. It is what it is, time to move on.

We're beginning to become butt-hurt about Duke when it should be the other way around.

My last addition, and I want it as it's own post.

Title or not in the next few seasons, Coach K is gone in 5-8 years. Let the countdown begin and start looking forward to a time when Duke isn't getting all the BS treatment, when the Blue Devils hit a wall, and they suffer through a decent-at-best era. The ride is ending soon and I can't wait!

The 2013 run wasn't that bad considering the injuries Duke had. Losing an Elite 8 game to the #1 seed and eventual champion shouldn't be considered a wasted year.

Also, I am a Marlins fan. I would absolutely take the Braves 13 year run and one World Series over the Marlins consistently dreadful performance every single year but 2 fluky championships. Although it still is a nice trivia question to ask which is the only professional franchise to have never lost a playoff series

One can never say with 100% certainty but IF Cal duplicated Duke's run:

2010 Cal wins NCAA Title
2011 UK loses in Sweet 16 by 16 with Knight, Jones, etc
2012 UK loses in 1st round with Davis/MKG
2013 UK loses in Elite 8 by 22 to Louisville
2014 UK loses in 1st round with Randle, Twins, etc

Cal would have been in the NBA and never had a shot at a 2nd title in 2015...and 75% of the UK fans would say
"good riddance"

Darryl
