ESPN's Louis Riddick on Bud Dupree

I'm not sure how you can question a guy's consistency and motor when he never misses a game, and had more sacks than anyone in the SEC (which is amazing considering he was the center of every team's gameplan).

I think it's more a matter of lack of understanding of Bud's motions. There were times when the ball was snapped that he seemed to not put a ton of effort into his rush. Now, someone that doesn't exactly have a lot of football knowledge may view that as "taking plays off," when in reality he was being asked to cover an area.......or watch for the RB/TE coming out in the flat.....or holding the edge. There were times when he is trying to rush the pass, but got locked up by the OT. Some would look at it like he wasn't trying his hardest to shake himself free, etc, but in reality he is raw and hasn't refined his technique to the point where he can disengage from the block. So, I agree that I don't think his motor is really an issue. I think its a misunderstanding of what is going on. I do think that he has a small amount of consistency issues, but I think this is due because he's raw and hasn't refined his techniques just yet........yet.

His performance against Georgia is a real concern for NFL, it was nonexistent in effort after first 10 plays, other games he looked like a stud edge rusher. I say he goes 20-25, he could thrive in a 3-4 scheme as OLB

If he played with high motor all the time. Top 10 pick.
