There was never a doubt in my mind that they would choose that game over UK. dUKe will absolutely destroy yet another weak ACC team and ESPsuck will still sing the praises of the "greatest rivalry in college basketball," slobber over Flagg and perpetuate the ESPsuck company love for puke.
Cooper Flagg Day tomorrow, he will torch the awful Carolina team that the broadcasters will pump up to sound like some team with the ability to win it all (except the won’t make the tournament). I plan on doing other things instead of watching that joke.
It's Duke & Carolina, Duke has a 'good' team, and possibly the NPOY. Nobody outside of BBN would pick the UK game over Duke vs UNCheat if the decision was about ratings and money. How do people not understand this??

Ok, what is your argument that UK vs Arkansas brings higher ratings than UNCheat vs Duke/Flagg. If you're working at ESPN, tell me how your pitch to the guy who makes that decision.
I’m talking about what true college basketball fans want to watch. Do I want to watch Duke kill a shitty North Carolina team at Cameron indoor stadium or do I want to watch an upcoming star in Mark Pope at UK play Arkansas with all the drama. I think 95% would rather watch the latter.
Agree to disagree. People know that Duke/UNCheat is almost always a good game. And we all know current standings mean nothing in rivalry games. Duke/Carolina is the biggest game in the sport. Nobody cares about Arkansas, even when they aren't trash. The only thing people (outside of BBN) are even remotely interested in about Kentucky vs Arkansas is a 15 sec highlight of Cal's introduction. Arkansas would have to be a Top 10 team for this to be of genuine interest to casual fans. They're midly curious about the introduction and maybe a final score.
Kentucky vs Arkansas is not even n the top 2 sec matchups tomorrow.
Florida vs tn and auburn vs ole miss are better matchups on paper.
They don't choose this based on matchups and that's why they chose Duke vs unc. As semper said, it's not hard to understand. I'm not watching a second either of unc vs Duke but there were much better matchups n the sec that screwed out of gameday than UK vs Arkansas.
False, both fans walk away from that game and don't think about it again. UK and U of L fans either gloat about winning our game or want revenge for losing it until they play the next time. For 364 days they obsess over it in one way or another and that is what makes it the biggest rivalry game in college basketball despite what ESPN tells you.
I’m shaded by my Blue Glasses. Kentucky is always the number 1 choice regardless of who we are playing. Now if ESPN pumped up UK and Mark Pope all year and if they pushed Oweh as some next Jai Morant and always talk about UK. We might be the big game.

Very reasonable take.... UNCheat sucks this year and Duke is feasting on a very weak ACC... Still it's a traditional rivalry game with lots of history.

I watch a lot of different b-ball podcasts, and universally their lead stories and most of their time has been spent on Calipari's return to Rupp...a once off. He'll never again have a first return, whereas dook and unc will play again in a couple of weeks. That's my pitch...
I guess I’m different than most. Duke and UNC play each other at least 2 times a year. Lots of times I don’t even watch. If Bill Self , Tom Izzo , or Rick Pitino were returning to their old school for the first time……I’m absolutely watching that over just another Duke vs UNC game . Duke vs UNC is no more watch worthy than Mich vs Michigan State, Kansas vs Houston, or Alabama vs Auburn for me .

Calipari dropped his end of the rope . That effectively eliminated any chance of beating out Duke and UNC .
