Considering how much misinformation and lying they do, they must be an extension of FOX.
I don't watch Fox but can you give me an example on a lie they have told?

Do NOT fire this one!!!!!!![]()
I second, third, fourth and fifth this post.
(BBUK in 3...2...1...)
Most on air talent aren't employees, they are independent contractors who if cut wouldn't count as employees being cut.Does Vitale keep his job?
http://collegespun.com/homepage-new/espn-will-layoff-350-employees-starting-today
Thank you! I could not have said this better myself! Summed it all up in a nutshell.I don't imagine they will be getting rid of the attractive talent...also not the climate to be firing women...so sleep easy the pretty girls are safe for now...
However, we all know this is natural in the big business world...I'm sure Disney has told them to start saving some salary, but cut backs and changes would have had to happen eventually...
the talent will move on to other jobs before the suffer the humiliation of being "let go"...but by in large it will be technicians, camera crew, security, janitors, cafeteria workers, payroll accountants, marketing people, etc...
they should cut
- about 3 or 4 of the daily talk shows that just repeat the same things over and over
-not everyone needs a radio show...
-their bias...they have their favorites and it's becoming increasingly noticeable...they need to nip that in the bud...
-at least a few of the big personalities...having a couple is alright and necessary, but you don't need one on every show...
- Poker coverage...that shit is just boring...
- Tuesday night football games between Pooper U and Booger St...in fact any insignificant games between small programs from lower conferences and divisions...
- All things soccer...unless its world cup...
-Tennis really isn't all that exciting either...unless its a championship match in a major and big names are involved...
-I don't know that ESPN3, and ESPNU are necessary expenses...incorporate the best from those two into the regular schedule/cycle of ESPN and ESPN2...
-All the tear jerkers they play...a lot of times it's saturday and sunday mornings, but increasingly they've crept into regular SC and news cycles...
look the story about the kid who got hit by a bus, bit by a rattle snake, and survived cancer all on his way to soccer practice and then while recovering in the hospital he found out his dog died, is sad and i hate that terrible things happen to innocent people especially kids...but i don't care if JJ Watt showed up and gave him a ball, that kind of stuff is for Oprah, 60 minutes, and Good Morning America...after a long hard week I want to watch sports and not have to get worked up about anything...
ESPN became what it is for one reason...it was just sports...people could escape the perpetually sad and destructive regular news...
an OTL special on something outside the realm of scores and highlights is tolerable, but that type of stuff doesn't need to be creeping into regular Sports Center, College Game Day, etc...
Now they've gotten really big and have spread themselves over too many areas...kind of like Sears...they're trying to be too many different things and forgetting what their bread and butter is...

Roku, Google Chromecast, or some other streaming device, IF you have reliable high-speed internet. Roku goes for as cheap as $50 (one time payment), then you can get Sling TV for $20 a month. That includes ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, and about 15 more channels. You can even get HBO now for an additional $15.I finally cut the cord a few months ago. ESPN was the only thing holding me back for so many years. I've been using ukbasketballlive.com for UK games and it has been great but I do miss the HD quality. I also miss catching random college football (and soon to be college basketball) games without having to find a random stream. Hopefully there is eventually a stand alone service for ESPN that is reasonable. I'd probably pay $15 a month for it.
It takes a real idiot to find a political slant on a sports station, so congrats, guys! You are a special kind of paranoid.
Basically ESPN has turned into MSNBC with sport's sprinkled in.
One in the same. Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc...Considering how much misinformation and lying they do, they must be an extension of FOX.
Yep this is what I do too. I pay 31.00 bucks for all the espn's and such on Sling tv. Sling TV is really all you need man. Its got all the channels that matter really. What about Sling tv? $20 a month and you get ESPN and espn2 plus other channels including CNN and AMC. A few more bucks and you can add SEC network and espnu.
Cord-cutting the reason for this, IMO. Although I agree there's too much non-sports crap, political agendas and sky-rocketing rights fees as mentioned in other posts.
Jesus, how do you even come to a retarded conclusion like that? You have issuesBasically ESPN has turned into MSNBC with sport's sprinkled in.

If they do, I will employ here here in Lexington.Do NOT fire this one!!!!!!![]()
I like to think that I had a small part in this cost cutting move by cancelling my cable TV. Okay, I know it isn't much but it does add up.
This is 100% about cord cutters and uncertainly about how the shift in content distribution plays out over next decade.
ESPN owns all the content (including just about everything UK athletics related ... UK is essentially on-air talent for Disney now). They'll get theirs, just a lot has to shake out as they traditional cable model begins to break up.
