This is staggering. So much to discuss and even more corrupt and disgusting (if that is possible) than the "Hoes for Joes" scandal.

What has been going on between the UofL Foundation and Jurich and athletics, nepotism, shady deals etc.... is mind blowing. Jurich and Ramsey both should BE IN JAIL. Jurich makes over $5-mil a year himself...but this:

One more name appears among those receiving foundation pay – Mark Jurich, son of the athletic director, and associate AD for development. His university salary disappears after 2012 and beginning in 2013 he is paid almost exclusively through foundation funds. From 2010 to 2016, he was paid $767,208 by the foundation, out of a total of $934,812 total compensation.

Immediately after the audit was released Thursday, U of L sports information director Kenny Klein told WDRB's Chris Otts that the athletics department had been unaware that the foundation was the source of any of Mark Jurich's compensation.

There is much more dirt...the purchase of "The Cardinal Club" and others. Total corruption. WOW!

and this, from the article:

It’s all fun and games until somebody shows up with a bill. For the U of L athletic association, life as it has been appears to be about to change. Using the foundation as a financial safety net no longer is going to come without consequence, nor will the department’s facility spending go forward with only minimal oversight from university leadership.

Have never understood how Jurich has gotten away with so many things. It's like he has nobody to report to...like he is over everybody and everything.

If there were ANY oversight whatsoever, that would be a change.

What's so hard to understand...this happens all the time. Program is winning, facilties are being built left and right. Everyone is prospering. Nothing will happen. I'd be surprised it anything did.

I know this is another huge black eye for the university and they would love nothing more than to get past this and move on, but if I were them I'd be firing Jurich and pursuing charges against him, Ramsey, and anyone else that was part of this massive corruption. I also don't see how the IRS doesn't weigh in on this and strip their tax exempt designation.

Will this impact the NCAA findings in any way? This type of activity was heavily related to sports and admins pocketing big $$ being distributed.

This type of activity should cancel any pre-arranged retirement deals given to folks pushed out. Doesn't this violate any code of conduct policies?

These folks including the Jurich kid should have to answer monetarily and refund any unearned funds.

The school is nearly bankrupt, the Yum Center is nearly bankrupt and you have the President and Athletic Director handing out cash to everyone connected to them.

I am DISGUSTED at the fact that UofL had the audacity to demand a bailout from the taxpayers of Kentucky!! What makes it worse is the state government is going to do it!!

RIDICULOUS!!:chairshot::chairshot::chairshot::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Because when he is paid by the foundation, he has no one to answer to. Plus, he controls so much of what UL does, through radio, tv, newspaper, all the athletics, people are afraid of him. He is very vindictive and it is no secret that he has threatened local businesses, should they not do what he wants. He knows the secrets of the athletic scandals, and the foundation. Nobody in their right mind is going to cross him. He just knows too much, and as bad as this article is, along with the Katina/Minardi scandal, there is much, much more that has not been uncovered. UL is dirty, and corrupt. These are just the tip of the iceberg. I hope they go down, and go down hard.

While that's the moral thing to do, why would they fire him? For UL, it's money well spent. Top 10 basketball program with a championship under Pitino, Top 10 football program going to BCS bowls, Baseball is getting to CWS, etc. Winning is all they care about. They've made far more money than they've embezzled under Jurich and Ramsey. The only way Jurich leaves is if he leaves for prison. Even then i'm sure they wouldn't fire him. They would just move his office to his jail cell where i'm sure he'd be comfortable working out of.

I would wager, if we could somehow get to the bottom of this seemingly endless pit of corruption, that the two scandals you noted are connected.

The myth of UofL's athletic program being so profitable is over. Basically the Foundation was the piggy bank for Jurich to do whatever he wanted to with the athletic program. Joke is on all of us, since the academics of the school have gotten worse. That money should be spent on something that helps

It would make sense, but what sports get the penalty and which escape. The best way to handle it, if the NCAA has any say, would be to hit the athletic department financially.

You cannot penalize swimming because the whole department is running wild.

It's the track team's fault.

I'm just beyond angry that Kentucky tax payers are on the hook for that CRAPPY YUM Center deal while Jurich, Ramsey and others connected to them were getting rich from it!!!:mad::mad:

And from the tickler file....lets not forget. Ramsey has padded his pocket in the community....Texas Roadhouse being one of his cronies.

Ramsey’s ADF completed in December lists his affiliation with Texas Roadhouse, where he has served on the board of directors since 2004 and owns well over $3 million in stock. In 2010, U of L opened its $200,000 Texas Roadhouse Student Center at the College of Business, a lounge complete with the restaurant’s signage and branding. In the same form, Ramsey also disclosed that he is on the Advisory Board of LG&E, is affiliated with the U of L Foundation and the U of L Research Foundation’s Advanced Cancer Therapeutics companies, and receives gift cards or certificates from MPC Promotions, though the dollar amount was redacted.

https://insiderlouisville.com/metro...orm-until-one-day-after-open-records-request/

Though University of Louisville’s institutional officers are required to annually fill out an Attestation and Disclosure Form — disclosing business interests and possible conflicts of interest — university records show President James Ramsey had not done so for three years, until the day after Insider Louisville submitted an open records request for that form in December.

According to Sherri Pawson, the university’s senior compliance officer, Ramsey filled out his Attestation and Disclosure Form on Dec. 22, the day after IL requested any conflict disclosure statements submitted in the last three years by Ramsey and Dr. David Dunn — the executive vice president for health affairs, who is on leave from the university while being investigated by the FBI.

According to The Courier-Journal, Dunn, along with a current and former school employee, are being investigated over their for-profit company Health DataStream, which they allegedly operated out of the university. While Health DataStream has since been dissolved, it was still in operation when Dunn completed his ADF in 2013, and he did not disclose his affiliation with the company in that form.

My gawd....does anyone there obey the law? The taxpayers of KY are being abused by this crime organization.

How about a class action lawsuit by the donors to the UL Foundation? This is fraud on a massive scale. Imagine you're a big donor and now you get hit with an IRS audit because this Foundation loses its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Imagine you thought you were helping city kids to get an education, not helping Tom Jurcih and his greedy ass family rake in more undeserved millions in salaries and helping Jim Ramsey buy a freaking golf course.

This is staggering corruption.

Agree totally but looking at this fan base I have another scenario.

Imagine you're a big donor and are connected enough to know exactly what is going on and who is getting your money and not giving a damn cause you got sweet tickets and the Pimp Mafia all love you providing you with sweet access to everything including the first pick of any killer concerts at yum.

Hmmmm

But alas, nothing will happen. Ramsey takes the fall and UL stance is "that was then and this is now.
Same position with McGee, and Karen Sipher went to prison.
Whenever they're caught, they admit it, then get a clean slate. Expect the same.
