"I was listening to the radio this morning coming home and people were saying he was looking for the referees," Boeheim said as part of an interview set to air onESPN Radio Syracuse Tuesday afternoon. "He wasn't looking for the referees after the game, they were gone. They were long gone. "
"He came down the handshake line, somebody told me from who was sitting there, that he was upset with some Duke students who were yelling at our players," Boeheim said. "He was looking at them. The referees were long gone at that time. I heard people on radio today talking about how he was looking at them, but that's not the case, from what I understand. He wouldn't do that. He doesn't like Duke students yelling at players. He's very tough about that. He's as classy as any coach. "
Sorry but I would expect a very good friend of his in Boeheim to defend him. I'm sceptical of this for several reasons, I watched it on my tv a couple of times and K just stood on the court while they snapped photos, he was nowhere near any students afterwards. He also shook hands with some of the guys at the end of the line, skipped over most of the kids in the middle so I don't see how his staring at students would cause him to skip over half the line but remember a few people at the end.
Given the fact that he sought out an ACC official afterwards to berate the refs and blamed the refs several times in that bizarre press conference, I just don't see any real evidence to contradict his actual actions. K has done plenty of good and has also had some bad moments but last night he screwed up, pretty simple.
