Duke goes down AGAIN at home

http://www.syracuse.com/axeman/inde...not_skip_handshake_line_to_look_for_refs.html

"I was listening to the radio this morning coming home and people were saying he was looking for the referees," Boeheim said as part of an interview set to air onESPN Radio Syracuse Tuesday afternoon. "He wasn't looking for the referees after the game, they were gone. They were long gone. "

"He came down the handshake line, somebody told me from who was sitting there, that he was upset with some Duke students who were yelling at our players," Boeheim said. "He was looking at them. The referees were long gone at that time. I heard people on radio today talking about how he was looking at them, but that's not the case, from what I understand. He wouldn't do that. He doesn't like Duke students yelling at players. He's very tough about that. He's as classy as any coach. "

Sorry but I would expect a very good friend of his in Boeheim to defend him. I'm sceptical of this for several reasons, I watched it on my tv a couple of times and K just stood on the court while they snapped photos, he was nowhere near any students afterwards. He also shook hands with some of the guys at the end of the line, skipped over most of the kids in the middle so I don't see how his staring at students would cause him to skip over half the line but remember a few people at the end.

Given the fact that he sought out an ACC official afterwards to berate the refs and blamed the refs several times in that bizarre press conference, I just don't see any real evidence to contradict his actual actions. K has done plenty of good and has also had some bad moments but last night he screwed up, pretty simple.

You apparently didn't read the article where Boeheim gave the only evidence that actually matters. Were you in the arena? Pretty sure Boeheim was.[winking]

The "evidence" being from "somebody told me who was sitting there"? What evidence did Boeheim provide? The evidence that actually matters are his actions, not what a third party apparently told Boeheim who related it to a reporter. Really solid account there. He remembered the people at the end of the line so I don't understand how his anger at some students caused him to skip over most of the kids and remember a few at the end.

What a supreme douche bag.
While I detest raggin' on great coaches, and he IS a great coach, that display is typical of a sore loser, and very juvenile. Can you imagine how the media would trump this up were Cal to pull a stunt like that?

I hope K isn't going to become like his mentor, Bobby Knight, in his later years. Have some class K, you lost, it happens; give the other team credit and shake hands like a man.

Insulting Coach K at any time would be dumbest shit you can do....

It also applies to Coach Cal...

That's my EFFING point.

These two coaches have been insane lately. They have had some rough patches with new freshmen not being as good as they thought. The game is much harder than people make it out. It's not just about talent or the freaking stars they have before college.

Yet we have so many here and at Duke board trying to COACH these two hall of famer coaches.
K is a great Coach. His record speaks for itself. Here's my take. We are UK. We are, and will continue to be, classy. Tradition, performance, and people. Proud to be a Wildcat !

Actually, only 3: Ingram, Thornton, and Kennard.

Well, according to my one stop shop for Duke info here, Chase Jeter is also a 5 star by absolutely everybody - and I'm not gonna go back through the various scouting sites for Jefferson, Plumlee, Jones, Allen, but I'm certain that they were all burger boys and mostly if not all Jordan AAs as well. So if you've got 4 young unanimous five stars and another four upperclassmen All Americans, then my point remains as strong as ever - it takes a lot more than "rolling the balls out" with young talent, even with a crazy stacked roster.

Coach K will need to listen to armchair coaching for advices.

Lol

Jefferson is their built in excuse

Unfortunately without him, you see how much trouble Duke has of keeping teams off the offensive glass. Now this doesn't excuse a consensus 5-star, top 20 McDonald's All-American being as poor as he is right now. Nor does it excuse two straight home losses. Not for me anyway.

Funny how that Duke poster hasn't wanted to be here talking basketball lately. You know...the Duke fan that joined this site within a month of them winning a title...

Funny how I was here after they lost to Clemson and Notre Dame. Sorry for not being around on my birthday. Next time I'll get your permission to go out and celebrate on my birthday so I won't get crap for not being here to talk about it

When did Jefferson become Kareem Abdul Jabbar?

When it was found out Chase Jeter is nowhere near ready for prime time. Although I'm more comfortable with saying Jefferson is closer to Carlos Boozer, even in comparison to Jeter. To me, Josh McRoberts (God I hated watching him play at Duke) is like a guy with the initials C.L. by comparison

Takes a real big man to go to UK's site a few weeks after your team wins the championship when UK was favored. Do you sign up here three weeks after UK goes 40-0 ? Not a chance.

A Dookie and a Turd Heel going at it in Rupp Rafters! Is this a joke? If not, it really needs to be. LOL

Truth is, Duke won the title last year, this losing streak reslly doesn't hurt all that bad, they should see what it's like from our perspective. Not finishing last year then having, what looks to be, a down year really sucks. Salt meet wound.
I know, I know, there's still hope but losing to Auburn…. Ugh.

I trust that Cal will have ya'll rolling into March. You've got a young team, as do we. Luckily for both teams, we've got great coaches who know how to right the ship and take a contender into the tournament. Also, the teams we have coming in next year should at least be some silver lining to what has admittedly been a down year by both Duke and Kentucky.
