Duke goes down AGAIN at home

If you think Kentucky was dancing with NIT territory...

Duke hasn't beaten anyone aside from IU, they have one more loss than us. And their hardest part of the schedule comes up.. 2 games with UNC, 2 UofL, @miami, Virginia, @Pitt... Plus a 3 gme road streak next... All the while facing a very poor ACCT seed. No buys and no gimmes in that tournament.

If they don't go 2-1 over this 3 game road trip, they are toast.

Agreed. This loss tonight puts Duke in trouble.

In hopes (and a likely possibility) that they miss the tournament.. let's all come up with ESPN/Media headlines when Coach K bombs with 1AD talent..

"Recruits were bad apples, and just refused to cooperate with Coach K and his system"

I'm actually ticked Duke lost - as much as I don't like them (in a sports rivalry kind of way) I DESPISE Boeheim - and Syracuse. While I wouldn't wish injury on their players, I do want them to lose every bloody game they play. Even against the Crypt Keeper

I wouldn't worry. Have you been to Syracuse? There is no reason for any non-NYC kid to go there. Personally, I think Syracuse falls off harder than Duke. They're going to fall harder, and sooner, than Duke.

The one thing that could lift my spirits after a horrible UK loss has occured.

Duke has lost twice at home to unranked opponents in 3 days and have lost 3 straight and 3 straight to unranked opponents overall.

Thank you Jesus.

Everyone wants to look at UK and being down 13-4 and 3-2 SEC and Duke is then really down at 14-5 and 3-3 in ACC next 3 on the Road and they always have tough game vs. NCState, then Tough Miami team, then Georgia Tech that has improved this year all on road. Then come home to Louisville, Virginia, and NC State. They could easily lose to UL and UVA at home with how they are playing. Then back on Road for a very tough 2 with UNC and Louisville. Back home with improved FSU on Road at PITT, and Finish at home vs. Wake and season ending rival UNC. They have tougher schedule than UK with UNC twice, Louisville twice, UVA twice, NCState twice , Pitt away, GT on road. They could easily go 4-8 in last 12and 18-13 and 7-11 ACC. I guess I am dreaming on this one and it will probably not happen just saying like some are on UK that with Duke not play well could see this with a Tough schedule to finish.

Very true.....Duke has to really play and win to stay in the NCAA, I believe....Good stuff Dave!

Same state or not, though, why would a kid from an Alpha world city choose to go live in a frigid college town that can literally be cut off from the rest of civilization if enough snow hits?

Cuse should be investigated every time they land any commit with a D1 offer that's not in Montana.

That's good enough for a 2 seed in the easiest bracket.

Just disgusting - all these posters making excuses for K, as if his incredible past accomplishments change the fact that he's losing like crazy to mediocre teams.

He has 8 five stars on this roster. What do you need, to win, K?

The reality is, that guy has had top 3 rosters, and often number 1, going back for basically the past 25 years. And yet he's only won five titles. That's once every five years, which is barely a better rate than pitiful Cal at UK.

Can't you blind sheep see? Are you too wrapped up in the hype to understand? Coach K had 5 lottery picks, including a #1, in '99 and couldn't win it.

And now he's losing to unranked teams at home with 8 five stars, and you want to make excuses for him?

Get over it. He sucks. He's the worst.

And I'd tell you my favorite coach, but he's not mainstream enough for you people.

My favorite coach averages 12 wins a season, but that scales to 50 wins a season because he purposely take recruits with negative star ratings. My favorite coach has won the imaginary national championship for "best team relative to talent" for the last 3 years running - his star player is a 5'3 female polynesian center who is missing most of her left arm.

You guys can keep your final fours - dumb sheeple. I'll take the real prize - the moral victory of my coach occasionally upsetting other coaches who actually have talent.
Sorry to quote myself, but I think I'm on to something here - we've been infiltrated with basketball hipsters. Now when you see Cut, 3, etc talking about how Cal isn't really that great of a coach, imagine them with an emo haircut, combing through Vinyl records in the basement, with dork glasses, looking for mediocre records that are only any good considering how low-budget they are. And then judging you for liking more well-produced records that feature a ton of great songs.

Ha, agreed. Not only is it cold and snowy, but it's run-down and desolate. Even the big cities to the South, East and West are in trouble. Western New York is the absolutely pits.

However, there IS some appeal of Syracuse, even all the way down in NYC. They always seem to get a few recruits a year from Harlem or Brooklyn, or maybe a Westchester or Long Island.

Pearl Washington, Melo, The Big East days. As crazy as it is, if you're from New York and you play basketball, chances are Syracuse is your dream. But admittedly, that dream is fading fast, even with Jim B. When he's gone, that's it.

then type as i dictate another open letter to obama on military strategy as if i actually fought in vietnam

i don't care about wins and losses. i coach for relationships

that's why you never see me hurling burgundy-faced invective at a game official. it is, after all, a mere game

is there anybody on duke's roster who had a sibling die or who was twice accused of sexual assault a year ago he can kick off the team?

I think what I'm picking up here is that JG is rather fond of Coach K. Don't quote me or anything, but I'm pretty sure that's the gist of it.

Duke losing is such sweet succulent nectar. It's like a wave of static electricity has caused the hairs on my nuts to quiver and crackle with tiny lightening bolts of pleasure. Please... more.

"I was listening to the radio this morning coming home and people were saying he was looking for the referees," Boeheim said as part of an interview set to air onESPN Radio Syracuse Tuesday afternoon. "He wasn't looking for the referees after the game, they were gone. They were long gone. "

"He came down the handshake line, somebody told me from who was sitting there, that he was upset with some Duke students who were yelling at our players," Boeheim said. "He was looking at them. The referees were long gone at that time. I heard people on radio today talking about how he was looking at them, but that's not the case, from what I understand. He wouldn't do that. He doesn't like Duke students yelling at players. He's very tough about that. He's as classy as any coach. "
