Pitino won the SEC tournament in the first year when he took Kentucky off probation.

1992 SEC tourney champs.
Same for 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1997.

The one year they didn't win it all in the SEC tournament, they still managed to go 16-0 in the regular conference schedule.

Meanwhile Cal has only won one SEC tourney game since 2019.
Not at all defending Cal, but the SEC is wildly different now than back then.

Well when one ref blows his whistle 22 times and every call is against UK I’m not so sure .
This^^^^^
He’s also one that was mentioned in the NBA gambling issue with the ref that got busted.

Also - I was curious “is there any financial advantage to the SEC getting more teams in?”

For NCAA tourney games with an SEC team, the SEC stands to make approx $2M per game.

When you combine all of the oddities, it starts to become less and less “odd” (although the refs did NOT cost us the game IMO, we did play poorly)

Blame officiating if you want (It's bad) but this team is terrible defensively. We rank 9th in the conference in defensive efficiency. The only teams below us are the bottom feeders of the league.
