They just beat 24th ranked NC State at home, have won five of their last six, and are getting votes in all polls.

Are we beat??

I did not think they had any shot in the years 2018 through 2021, but they look about as good as Vandy right now.

hope not, but the defense had better do a better job containing
the Qb than they did against vandy or it will be a long day.
And the offense had better put 24 or more points on the board

This is the game we need to play smash mouth. I think they are still light on the D-line.

If we try to toss long-developing pass plays, they will twist and stunt that light D-line, creating pressure. They are at the top of the list on sacks, doing so.

It would sure help if Levis can rush for 30-50 yards. He doesn’t have to score 4 TD’s, again, but his legs make us a far more viable offense.

Oh for goodness' sake. Let's just play the damn ball game before we give up.

Lol.

Not giving up Rembrandt, but it is a legitimate topic of conversation.

Ya’ know, it is the next game on the schedule.

I think should we beat them, this team/staff will deserve some credit for beating at least a decent Louisville team.

No, we win 28-17. Although some dummies on this board think the 2 conferences are comparable, you will see the difference between a 3-5 SEC team and a 4-4 ACC team on Saturday.

We are still the 2nd toughest game on their schedule, and they are the 8th most difficult game on ours. We did lay an egg vs Vandy which is the closest thing in the SEC to UofL, but we should come out more focused on Saturday.

Wtf is with this thread title and overall mindset? You're like the negative version of HerrosHeroes with this. (And yes, I know his positivity is fake trolling)

The season has sucked so far, but why predict failure?

Quote my prediction of failure.

You need to visit the football forum more frequently: there are multiple posts calling for Stoops’ job.

That is a poor mindset!

The team that showed up for Georgia will kill them. The team that showed up for Vandy will lose.

However, I'll believe they can stop CRod from cleaning his cleats on their jerseys when I see it.

I think we will win. Stoops has consistently been able to get the team up for this game.
We seem to always remember “who we are” in this game.

I’m hoping that Stoops tells Scang to play it straight early. We should not need trick plays to move the ball on U of L.

Louisville will hang their hats on this: we are precisely tied as the 19th best defenses in the country.

I agree that the SEC is tougher, by far than the ACC. Vandy signed a better class in ‘22 than 10 of the 14 ACC programs.

But the last few years we knew we would feast on a defense ranked 80th (or far, far worse) even having faced comparatively soft ACC competition.

I’m afraid we won’t pull out a 30 point + win, but will be there cheering it on, regardless.

That said I like this report on Levis.
If Levis is truly healthy, we roll!

He enjoyed the beat down of the Cards last year as much or more than any player we have ever had.

If Square and Jacques Jones were available, that would be the cherry on top!

Gosh, those guys sustained some pretty serious injuries to have been out, what 5 or 6 weeks? Both of them have that attitude that they would play missing an arm (Square sealed the Iowa Citrus Bowl Game on one good leg).

Hope they are back for U of L!!

Imo the biggest change the last few months is now UL truly believes they can win. If we played this game a few weeks ago, they lay down and we roll them.

There is no denying they found life but imo most of it is fools gold. They literally lucked into matchups where the opponent was self imploding. By contrast, everyone we played had their best performance of the season (except Georgia).

What we absolutely cannot do is give them something early. If we come out and jump on them, they will give up like the last few years

NC state....meh.
I can watch the SEC games and ACC games on my little 32" inch TV and see the difference in speed and physicality.
Sure, they could beat us if we don't show up to play. But we will be up to play Louisville and vent a lot of frustration. Like I stated, they COULD but I just don't see it.

I think that is the key.

One good, long-sustained drive with C-Rod pile-driving them will bring back memories.

I watched the 3rd quarter of the Wake Forest game. 6 turnovers for Wake sealed their fate.

And let’s be honest: Wake Forest is a well-coached team of two and three Stars, as is largely North Carolina State, and most of the ACC. The average size of linemen on each side of the ball does not compare to SEC and Big Ten teams. Hence it is annually a “bad matchup” for U of L, where they can get away with players with a few too few rocks in their pockets, most Saturdays.

At times (including now) I've doubted Stoops' ability to get us to the next level. And I certainly wonder about the wisdom of the extension/raise.

The tone of my previous post was too harsh toward you, though. My apologies. I know you're a real UK fan.

No biggie, bro.

Frankly, I made my OP thinking it would bring out the Card faithful to jump on the topic.

They have had far too many examples of late to take the bait.

They were slightly favored by Vegas when both LBJ and Levis ran through them like Swiss cheese.

Seems Vegas and the betting public have also taken note, now favoring the 6-5 Cats over the 7-4 Cards.

NC State is just another overrated ACC team. No doubt UL has improved compared to a year ago. But this is another weak year for the ACC. UL has put points on the scoreboard, but they have only played a couple of halfway respectable defenses all year. When UL played against the occasional strong defense, they have not moved the sticks that much. Their quarterback is hurting. Even after the meltdown in Knoxville, Kentucky's defense is still ranked 3rd in the SEC behind Georgia and Bama. We held Georgia to 16 points last week. The wildcard for the game is if Kentucky's locker room is still focused, and how hard Kentucky will play for this one game. I will go out on a limb and guess Kentucky's defense puts the clamps on UL's offense Then the question will be if Kentucky's offense can be successful in the red zone and score TDs. I think this is the game where Kentucky's players take out their frustrations against a team they don't like. Levis produces his best game of the season. Hope I am right.

Kentucky 27
UL 17

Depends on which UK team shows up. The UK team that played UF, Miss St, and GA tough will win handily. The UK team that was ill-prepared, unmotivated and unfocused that failed to compete vs SCAR, TN and Vandy will be routed. All the intangibles favor U6.

Yeah. This is a game that I’d bet the farm on the Cats covering if I was in Vegas/Biloxi/AB

Last game of the year and for some seniors that have laid it on the line for 4-5 years. Don’t think they will come out flat. This is their fair well and expect them to have us focused and ready to play. Hope we take out all our frustration on Louisville Saturday and put a beat down on them

To be honest, they’ve looked like the better, more cohesive team as of late. And their program as a whole is trending up, particularly in recruiting.

I’d predict them to win at this point, but this is a game that Stoops always has the team fired up for.

It’s going to boil down to our offense, especially the O-Line. Louisville generates a ton of pressure and we are going to need a huge rushing game from Levis or the O-Line has to show up. Can’t come up empty in the red zone and leave points on the board. We need to score in the upper 20’s at least.

Georgia only had 1 sack. Can the line repeat that performance?

Folks if you're a gambler, hammer the Cats and give the points. This one is a blowout. Maybe not 50-10 blowout but 14-17 pt game easy. Lamar Jackson ain't walking through that door. The last 2 times they won he literally won those games himself. Malik thinks he's baby Lamar and he ain't. He'll play hero ball like he always does. And we'll show up I guarantee

I don’t think Cunningham even plays

think we win, if the defense could get a shut out, we win big.
just don't know if this offense can score 50 on anyone.
