If not, he should.

Go right at Coach K and make it an all-out war. Burn their village to the ground.

Mention:

- K being 3/13 over the last thirteen years in getting beyond the Sweet Sixteen.
- K's numerous criticisms of freshmen after tournament losses, including his throwing Jabari Parker under the bus after the Mercer loss a few years ago.
- Playing Harry Giles when it was clear Giles was a good 1.5 years away from being ready (as proven by the Kings).
- K trying to persuade lottery picks to return when millions of dollars were at stake, as he did with guys like Maggette, Brand and Avery.
- K's abysmal record at developing big men for the NBA.
- K only having one current NBA All-Star. If K is the GOAT, shouldn't he have more than one NBA All-Star, and that guy being one who only played 7 games for K at Duke?
- 10 years of K vehemently condemning the OAD rule.

Go right at the sanctimonious hypocrite. Put his rat nose to the burner and make it a war.

Cal doesn’t recruit negatively, I suspect his unfair treatment by the media as part of the source for not doing it. He also seems to be a more positive person in trying to help than tear someone down. Given that Duke and everyone else does it to him I wouldn’t mind him doing it to them. If he wants to get recruiting back on track and in peak shape then that would get it done but I don’t think he will though.

He'll forever play with a hand tied behind his back while Coach K is getting politician money and big backing. I'm not sure going at K is the best strategy, simply because of his power. I really think we just need to wait out his retirement and/or the 1AD rule change.

Kentucky will have as competitive of a team as any next year, and that could remain the year after. Just talented enough to win games, but not so talented that we lose a ton of players. AT this point, it's 2021 (after two full tournaments) and Coach K is 74, dealing with a young roster. Remember, whatever happens from here (and he even mentioned as much when speaking on Allen), he's stuck with a young roster. No longer can he pepper 1-2 impact players into a roster of 4-5 upper classmen. It's a whole other level of work for him.

I think he announces his retirement after his next title or by the time he's 74-75, whichever comes first. Lot of bad happening around college ball, the NCAA, and 1AD.. not sure he's going to stick it out for much longer.

Attacking Duke in recruiting is going to fail epically. The best thing to do is to circle the game we have next year and not only beat them but totally beat their ass down. Performance on the court is where you win this. If you make it about recruiting then it will just be about media hype and we know Duke can destroy anyone with media hype. Make results matter and not hype.

Never happened with Jabari or any freshman. In fact, after the Jarbari loss K went into the Mercer locker room and congratulated them on the win.

Good points ,but 5 Championships is a big deal to a lot of 18 year olds.
BTW I can't stand Duke.

Such an upstanding citizen that rat is. I bet it wad after he told the coach to go #### his mother and cussed out the best player on Mercer. Then he did that so the press slurpers would write a story about him and take off pressure from that dismal loss.

5 championships in 40 seasons at the same school. How many coaches stay at a major school with all the advantages he has had for 40 seasons?

The negative recruiting is what assistants are for. Let Cal be above the fray, but have a GD killer on his side who people love, and he can also level with them about all these facts.

I do believe OA was that guy in the past.

I'd take a c'ship every 8 seasons. If it was easy, we'd have more.

To me 2010 & 15 were flukes created by extremely easy paths. Apart from those 2 years the "Goat" has sucked in the NCAA tourney. Only made it past the sweet 16, 4 times this century. Let that sink in. Duke & Coach K's greatest years were the early late 80's & 90's

There's a handful of things in this article, direct quotes among them, that stand out to me. I don't know what rift there may have been between Parker and K.. but K didn't seem to go to bat for him. Woj seemingly had more sympathy for Parker than K did.

ANd then this video (not sure who these guys are, is one LZ Granderson lol):

On the spectrum of coaches, between guys like Coach Cal who has his players best interest in mind, and guys like Boeheim, who was absolutely butt-hurt when his players leave early..Coach K appears to be much closer to Jim B..

Yeah, we def haven't had consistency in the tournament like UK under Cal, and it's been frustrating as hell. But the 2 titles do make up for some of it.

Btw, 2010 and 2015 were flukes? Whatever. UK had it's chance and lost both times to the team that Duke then beat.

Or this article:

Sounds like there's a little more to the Coach K/Parker relationship than even I remembered. To be benched.. To be more concerned with congratulating Mercer (some PR stunt) than consoling a crying Parker... to wait that long to decide to go pro, as if certain people with a lot to lose from a talent like that leaving, don't want him to go..

Duke fans are shocked by this.. no one else is though..

And yet all these big-time recruits are picking K over Cal recently. I don't think this board's impression of K's selfishness is shared by his current, past, and future players and their families.

That's the dumbest post ever , any team that wins the championship that's no fluke.

There's something about the past few weeks... not too concerned about future recruiting all the sudden. Something tells me if another Bagley/Duval situation comes around in a year from now, they won't be going to Duke..

In regards to form players, we could always ask:

Frank Jackson
Jabari Parker
Sulaimon
Chase Jeter
Jordan Tucker
Sean Obi

Quite a lot of transfers, shockingly early entrants in a very short time-span. At the very least, K certainly doesn't appear to have time for his former players like Cal does.

Did you even watch the Wisconsin game? Badgers had full control until refs took over the last 9 minutes. I've never known UK to play a game where we get official favoritism that refs give Coach K.

And W. Virginia. Worst 3 point shooting team in tourney that year hit 10 3's...8 in first half. How many did they make versus Duke?

First of all , I made a point that 5 c'ships is possibly a selling point. I Could see Duke selling themselves to recruits wanting to be a part of that tradition. How they won is irrelevant to most recruits who want to go there. Let that sink in. Last,I couldn't care less how they've won their titles in terms of arguing about it. Let that sink in. Grace to you my friend. We all need it.

My biggest takeaway from that Tribune article you posted is that Jabari looked insanely out of shape. Like competing in an eating contest with Capel out of shape.

I'm with you on the transfers. If you don't think so, go check out my posts on the Duke site. Drives me nuts that Coach plays zero bench, guys transfer, and then Coach complains about no experienced depth. And yeah, why Matt Jones played more PG than Frank Jackson, don't think even the Lord knows why. And Chase transferring - that dude was Duke through-and-through. I was so pissed that he never saw the floor. And never would have, with all the elite talent that comes in every year.

I personally think that Coach isn't what he used to be - what 70+ year old is - but that he's trying to make up for that with insane talent every year. Part of me is ok with that approach but part of me hates that guys like Duval and Trent are pretty much being forced to leave this year, even if not ready, because they won't see the floor much next year. Hate that.

Cue the violins because your opponent hit a lot of shots that you should have stopped. How dare they make shots! I mean didn’t they check the season stats going into that game? They also shot 41% from 3 against Duke. (5-12..Not as good as Duke’s 52% from 3 though. 13-25)

Great post but you left off the sanctimonious incident with Dillon Brooks where he got caught lying to everybody about his poor sport lecture to an opposing player. If he is willing to treat an opposing player like that he sure as heck won't mind throwing any of his own players under the bus.
