Do you see Tenn losing any commits over the latest news ?

In this day and age of rampant, massive cheating the TN media(nothing but an arm of the TN athletic dept propaganda machine) is hailing them as honorable heroes for turning out the corrupt Pruitt. I see them gaining recruits from this, not losing them. Understand that Pruitt was fired for not winning enough games, not from cheating. TN will NEVER, EVER admit that.

I think they did admit to violations, they are just vague and want it to go away. To their credit they fired Pruitt for cause. But you may be right that the days of missing bowl games are probably over.

Actually I could see a couple that haven't already committed to them but were likely to sign with them go other places. It's a long time until December, if UT stumbles a bit on defense season things could get interesting. They'll have a good offense but the SEC teams have away of adjusting to new coaches and their style of play. Remember their not the only cheater on the planet.

Why? Paying players is perfectly legit and the low down snitches will spare no expense.
No it isn't. Schools paying players is still expressly against NCAA rules. But players are now allowed to sign endorsement contracts with private entities to sponsor products and services with their names, images, and likenesses (NIL). For those who might say it is the same thing, that is incorrect. Schools are not allowed to pay players, period. To do so illegally would not only expose the school to investigation and sanction by the NCAA but more importantly could cause problems for the school with the federal government since a school's tax status dictates whether such benefits are permissible. But the formal NIL rule is still evolving, and this lack of clarity has caused many fans to misunderstand what is allowed and what is not at the present time.

Count me in the column that thinks UT will suffer at least several decommitments because of this NCAA announcement. I don't know which players or how many. UT has already escaped the top level of sanctions since their cooperation resulted in the NCAA's decision not to charge them with lack of institutional control. But they can and probably will receive serious sanctions, including loss of scholarships and other restrictions. They may get banned from bowls for a time. There are a number of players committed to UT who already have a wide variety of other options. Some will exercise their other options and rid themselves of this taint simply because they can. Others will stay, but they may have second thoughts too.

I’m with you on your feelings, but unfortunately the NCAA is a wet noodle right now treading water b/c they know their about to go belly up! They haven’t had much relevance in 5-10 years! Their leadership has only been interested in passing their own pockets….FN shame institutions/colleges/universities pay ungodly amounts of $$$ to that piece or Crap organization…

The NCAA is treading carefully because they have lost some lawsuits. They have to comply with court rulings, and that places them in an awkward position. The NIL rule must evolve, because it is practically unworkable in its present (early) form. The new rule was hastily enacted because the NCAA needed to get itself in compliance with the court rulings. But the rule will have to be tightened up in some respects. The trick will be to tighten it in a manner that is enforceable and can be monitored by the pertinent NCAA enforcement entity. That will be a tough task, because it will be a lightning rod for more litigation if they don't do it right.

With regard to your assertion that the NCAA is about to go belly up, I would just say almost anything is possible in this environment. We already know that the SEC and B10 are becoming much more powerful through expansion and super lucrative network contracts. This suggests the SEC and B10 will ultimately call the important shots. Whether the two most powerful conferences will decide to pull themselves out of the NCAA is a very different and much more complicated question. That is a possibility, but I don't think it is a certainty at this time. There are lots of collateral issues.

Anybody we were recruiting ?
@bassmaster_vol , I would be embarrassed to show my face at a rival's board if I were a Vol fan.

If you are proud of that sewer pit of a program, please stay off the board of schools who are trying to compete the right way.

Vols are a disgrace to the SEC and that is saying a lot.

Uncle Adolph this is not directed at your post but at the a$$hat Vol who thinks it is funny they can cheat, buy players, cheat their coaches out of their contracts when he is doing what Phat Phil told him to do, throw fits when officials don't give them calls (along with golf balls, water bottles, mustard containers, and their old ladies false teeth).

And on and on and on, yet they come to the KY football board to GLOAT over winning a game that took at least 5 missed or blown calls by the SEC crooked officials to get them bowl eligible so they could lose to the 6th. place team in the Big 10.

Go Vols. VFL.

I think the NCAA is going to spend time considering what to do about the Vols hosting recruits on campus during the 15-month long Covid dead period. The NCAA issued a warning again during the middle of this period for teams not to violate it.

Cathode I feel your pain, vols have been a cesspool of corruption for decades. If Pruitt was killing it on the field we would not have ever heard of this. They want to claim Pruitt learned to cheat at Bama and UGA. Well Bama hasn't been accused, UGA hasn't been accused, as dumb as Pruitt is don't you think he would have screwed up at those places? Truth is he was clueless at the cheating deal and was operating under the instructions of Fulmer. Always remember nothing sucks like a big orange.

Pruitt was dumber than cornbread. That’s why I know he was following orders from Phat Phil. They were going to bring the Vols back to the top......whatever it took.

And, it backfired on them.

But, they will once again go unpunished for their cheating, even if the Haslams have to buy them out of it.....or they take it to East TN. District Court with a UT grad for judge.

I agree with everything you have said, not a trashier athletic program in college sports. That greatest baseball team ever that couldn't get to Omaha is a prime example of classless, the debacle at the OM game,on a correct call, is another shining example of the trash UT is. I hope they never represente the SEC, they are an embarrassment to the conference.

What's so funny, the Vol fans think the sport's world doesn't know they are trash, but........

UL was the model of cooperation and lost a championship so I think the NCAA is going to raw dog UTooth. That will cost them recruits.
Not entirely factual. UL faced a formal charge of lack of institutional control by the NCAA.

However, UT was literally handing bags of cash to recruits. UT is not the only school to have ever done this. But UT was caught redhanded. Because UT immediately got rid of their AD and football coach, the school was not charged with lack of institutional control. Since lack of institutional control was not charged, the school might avoid extreme sanctions. However, that does not mean the NCAA will go easy on them. UT has been tempting fate for a long time. I don't believe their penalties will be minor by any means. In due time, we will know.

Conyer will more than likely make more money in his 4, 5, or 6 year career at UT than he will make in the NFL, if he even gets there.

Some of the NIL money UT offered may have already filtered through to some interested parties.

Not likely he will change colors at this late stage in that process IMO. He appears to be all in on Rocky Top.

So be it. Time to move on.

Exactly

They didn't pick that place for winning, or education, or bowl games, or sound NFL development, or playing in front of classy pleasant fans

Cash in hand. All Knoxville has to offer, but they do got a lot of it.
Jimmy Haslem ... Owner of Flying Pilot J and the Cleveland Browns .... Multi Billionaire and huge Tennessee Backer ...

UT always knows that the coaches are cheating, that is there culture. They wanted to fire Pruitt because he wasn't succeeding there in the wins column. After they had enough then they thew down the cheating card like it was monopoly.

This is probably the last time the NCAA gets to lay the smack down on anyone now that cheating is legal. I expect them to flex one last time before being disbanded.

I doubt anyone transfers out due to this.
What puzzles me is how can you have 18 level one violations but no lack of institution control charge.
Beats me

Excuse Knoxville is giving & ncaa accepts is that they fired everyone when they found out about the cheating

Mizzou just got a bowl ban couple seasons ago for minor league stuff compared to this

Tennessee wants to claim no one there was involved, another lie by the orange trash, Pruitt's classesxare Sr, Jr, and soph. So all of their classes took money, except the frosh and transfers.

The only reason they turned themselves in was to fire Pruitt, who was a real football coach 6 months earlier. Came to Athens riding an 8 game win streak and we broke them. Was the beginning of the end for Pruitt and the best staff in college football.

Actually, the primary (90 percent plus) source of revenue for the NCAA has been March Madness . . . which has cost Kansas, UK, UCLA, IU, Duke, and a handful of others many millions, as those are the schools that dominate.

UT reported the violations not because they wanted to be honest, but in order to fire Pruitt and not have to pay his buyout. Him cheating gave them the out on his buyout

You mad bro?

You mad bro?
Not at all. Actually happy the Vols have been exposed nationally for who they really are.

Just don't come over here bragging about your team when you have to cheat to win.

And, the Vols have always cheated in an effort to win in the SEC. Unfortunately,

Some Vol fans seem to be proud of that........as long as they win.

And that is just sad.......
