I wonder if Cal will still recruit him.Seems like we still could use him if Diallo bolts but Johnson may not want to be here if there is not enough playing time.I know he was visiting Zona this weekend and haven't heard anything about it.

Cam stated that UK was the leader but he was still lining up visits. Instincts tell me he was being held up by Knox's decision. He might still come but now it would likely be dependent on his willingness to get Mulder's minutes. I have to believe now it's just Bamba and Diallo that we are waiting for.

Cal wouldn't play him if he came. He has his freshman now that Knox committed and is bound and determined to go that route regardless. The only experience is Gabriel and SKJ for what it's worth.

Arizona is loded too so its safe to say he has stiff competition regardless of where he goes (unless he chooses osu or oregon). I still think he is UK bound but only if diallo stays in draft. The longer it takes CJ to commit the better because that means he is waiting on diallo. I do worry about oregon because dorsey is stayingnin draft and the oregon program has appeal now. Not worried about osu at all because that is just another pitt situation. Like I said the longer it takes him to decide the better for Uk.

I think we have about the same shot as I thought we had at landing Knox which is zero. We have too many guys his size already. Yes I know he can shoot but Knox filled that void and he wouldn't play much at all next yr if any. He would have to wait for his senior yr to get his

If he wanted PT handed to him he should stay at PITT..Take UK and Zona both off his list...Id say if Diallo stays in the draft and i think he will then we might take Johnson

ok, let me try to clear it up a bit. I said if he wants free PT he should not consider UK or maybe Zona ..If he wants to compete with and against the best then I think cal make take him if no Diallo.Dont see us getting both

That might have something to do with the bench we had last year. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I think it has something to do with Cal playing the best players. The vast majority of the time it is his young players. However, Darius Miller, Liggins, Harrelson, Patterson, Willis, Hawkins, Poy, Julius Mays and others clearly show Cal plays upperclassmen.

Knox would play more because he is a lot better. Just shut up with this nonsense.
you shut up. What have you seen from Knox that makes you think he is a lot better? Cal wants him so that Is it,huh? I hope Knox turns out to be great, but he is just a freshman with no experience and not that great of a shooter. Let's wait and see.

I guess you guys will never learn...how can you say we dont have much of a shot after you see how Cal rakescthem in...just stop it

Great post. Exactly. We need to remember Gabriel was a top 10ish recruit last year just like Knox and he struggled much of the season as well. You just never what you will get out of a freshman . A junior who has scored 20 plus against the likes of UNC ect then yes you know what you will get. I think we will either have Diallo or Johnson on our team .

I sure hope we don't get him. Then every time Diallo or Knox misses a shot people will be screaming for that wonderful shooter Johnson.

Yes, and what would happen when Reddish, Langford, and Williamson join Kentucky next year, plus Alexander and Baker both back as well? Wouldn’t surprise me if Cal brings in another five or six top 25 guys in the next class, three of whom would probably be wing players.

It would be nice to have either of those guys, but it’s not necessary to win it all if UK lands Bamba. That said, I see Cal trying to bring in Diallo or Johnson, because he's greedy and awesome and wants as many good players as possible. Knox, Green, and Baker are all above-average perimeter shooters. Vanderbilt is getting better. I expect Gabriel to become a 35%+ shooter. Diallo would be nice because he's a future top 20 pick, and you can't go wrong with that type of athletic prowess.

The Final Four exhibited some of the worst shooting I can remember. UNC cut the nets down with guys like Berry going 2/14 in the semi-final, and guys like Jackson going 0/9 from three in the title game. Oregon was atrocious in the semi-final from three, and still had a chance to win. What matters is defense and matchup advantages. With Vanderbilt, Knox, Washington, and Gabriel, UK will have something few teams in the modern era have ever possessed – four 6’8” to 6’9” forwards who can collectively matchup with anything. If SKJ continue to improve, the UK advantages become only more potent.

Adding Bamba is still the key. Johnson would just provide a nice security blanket for UK fans who overthink zone defenses with thoughts of 2010 West Virginia. For ’17-18, UK already has multiple forwards that can do things no one on that 2010 UK team could do. Johnson, at 6'8", would give UK a 5th or 6th matchup advantage.
