Disappointing performance

everyone was pretty bad except for Lamont , he played his ass off . Like most , I’ve had enough of Jaxson’s disappearing act . And Brea is maddening as well , yeah he bombs from three but his effort on D is lacking , and that’s being kind . A Willams is in over his head .

Why is everyone acting like its easy to play an obviously rigged game. Trash calls all game. I would assume its hard to play a game when every time you look at someone the wrong way a foul is called. Can't keep momentum. Cant get rhythm. Its just garbage. I wouldn't even be happy as a UGA fan. What did they even do? I just want to watch some damn basketball but its getting to the point that I don't even want to watch the games.

The announcers in the LSU/MIsso game made a comment about kentucky fouling again and taking more of their time.

I’d understand if it were a team of freshman

This team of veterans shouldn’t be getting psyched from the super scary Clemson and Georgia fanbase

We may need to seriously consider KERR getting the start on road games when he’s back. He will come out swinging

Another shot at us in the LSU game. They do understand that we have fans around the globe and bring a lot of money in for their little programs right?

Losing this game isn't a surprise. Losing by double digits is a tad disappointing though.

To help measure the loss, this Georgia team isn't awful. They are far better than the Devon Downey led USC team that smacked the 2010 team. They are a borderline tournament team.

Yeah at least Kerr has a set. Beginning to wonder about some of the others.

I’m thinking we go 8-1 at home and 1-8 on the road. 2-7 on the road at best.

9-9 in the SEC.

Then 1-1 in the SEC tourney and 1-1 in the NCAA.

22-13 final record.

Not bad for a first year coach with no returning players playing in the toughest conference in college basketball history.

But some idiots will complain about it.

Accurate assessment but a disappointing loss. Not sure where SEC road wins will come from.

When it’s time to “man up”, Oweh & butler rise then garrison to a degree tonight do & did but the others retreat. Giving up offensive rebounds on their fts is a big tell tell sign then refusing to be screened and it’s worth running thru one real hard to show them that you’re here and will be all game. I thought Clemson showed these guys that people play the game of their lives against us so gotta match that……we haven’t it our 2 true road games. Very disappointing to see the lack of fight by most of the team in those situations.

Getting to the tournament will be big. 1-2 wins will be a huge bonus considering Mark Pope started with one player in Perry.

You have those nights. Road wins are going to be tough. We needed this one. This game and Clemson tells me we need to rethink our preparation for true road games. We missed early shots close in. The threes didn’t fall and UGA lived at the free throw line.
Sub Brea in for Robinson to start game, find some way to get Wiliams’ head out of his ass, and hope you get Kerr back ASAP.

This loss had NOTHING to do with the conference or a road game. Lack of effort, bad body language, fear of contact in the paint, is what caused this loss. If they didn't have those three handicaps, Georgia easily loses this game. Calling a spade for what it is won't make you a bad fan. Appreciate the callout!

Well said. I think Pope is too nice.

Especially because we simply aren’t a good 3-pt shooting team. It’s not that we’re in a funk. We’re just not good. Plenty of games to see that at this point.
Exactly. We are not a very good three point shooting team. If we are going to continue to throw up three point bricks after three point bricks then at least give Noah 20 minutes a game. He is our second best three point shooter.

At this point I wish they’d give Noah some clock, especially if we’re down double digits. He has proven he can get hot and shoots the ball very confidently. And he can’t be any worse on D than anybody else.

Very disappointing. Team wasn’t prepared. We have to stop letting other teams dictate the style of play. Georgia wanted the game to be a dog fight and made sure that it devolved into one. We weren’t ready for what Georgia had in store for us. We are 0-2 in true road games. I hope we figure it out soon so we can get a top four seed in the SEC tourney. Very frustrating watching all the boneheaded plays tonight.

Fast starts are important

And force the guys to block out on three point shots. But until Mark forces them to run the offense he brought here, there won't even be that many shot attempts. Which is why I was surprised the other day when he acted puzzled that the team wasn't putting up more three's. It's beginning to look like insanity.

We have mostly 5-6 year grad transfers or just above average mid-major players. The team may improve as a team but the players individually have reached their talent ceiling and that’s all it will be.

The problem is they’re veterans from Drexel, BYU, Fairleigh Dickinson, Etc.
None of them have seen this type of athlete and this “type” of basketball that the SEC refs allow. They’re all used to “finesse” basketball - not wrestling matches. All our guys with the exception of Butler and Oweh are very soft. Robinson is maybe the softest, weakest player I’ve ever seen. Can’t believe he went to the draft combine. NBA would break him in half. No matter the outcome, he must come out of the starting lineup immediately and play only spot minutes off the bench. Brea, Almanor - anyone should play in front of Jax.

At some point we need to show we are not going to be shoved around in the paint . Sadly don’t have a hoss to be an enforcer .
Coach Pope has to address this. In practice and in games. It's an issue.

Do some man up drills. Time to see some guys having some bruises and bumps from practice. This ain't for funsies

Well said. I don't get the impression that his practices are physical, I'm also convinced Mark is as surprised by how physical teams are in this conference versus some of those other conferences. He needs to get more out of his guys physically, and bench the ones not willing to give the necessary effort. Period.
