Turned radio thought I heard announcer say he got fired but caught tail end of what was being said? Texas can be a great job for a coach who actually knows what they are doing.

You knew when he took the job that he better win and win fast.
Hes not doing that.
Hes in trouble for sure.

I thought that he was dumb to turn down the TU job because they wouldn't accept hurtt, he was a better fit there, they cheat like UL does. But then I also thought that he might not have had any choice about taking hurtt along with him, just like jurich didn't have any choice but to keep him on staff after the NCAA basically told him to fire him.

Both places have huge recruiting advantages over UL (or UK). but maybe he really does need him, most of his success at UL was because of the talent hurtt brought in from Florida. It made me laugh every time EXPN talked about what a great recruiter Strong was after hurtt got sanctioned, with never a word about the TWO TIME NROTY. And we know how he did it at the U, the question is how in hell he did it at UL. I tis easy to connect the dots though, jurich has proven time after time what a slimeball he is.

Seen where this is the worst start in Texas history. Pretty much the whole team has problems, just not well coached. Even the punter was having problems catching the ball during the game.

Wrong. Strong has 2 more years to win in Austin. He will win there, but he will not return Texas to the level they were in Brown's best years.

Every time to take Louisville personnel out of Louisville, they crash and burn.

You'd think the losers would figure out by now, they can only make it here. Overrated from the get.

I am not sure about that. People were saying Gillispie wouldn't/shouldn't get fired from here after 2 years, but we expect more here and his win loss record just wasn't cutting it. Also he just wasn't capable of working in the fish bowl that is Kentucky basketball. Sounds exactly like Strong at Texas. If they have a losing record this year, he might be out. Especially with a new AD to be hired, he might want his own hire in there. At best I think he might get one more year if he has a losing record and he had better have a breakout season and not squeak into a bowl with a 6-6 record.

I think they give him the rest of this season and next season to see what he is capable of, but I could be wrong. Texas football boosters have a lot of power and if they want him out then he's gone.

He's not long for UT. Found out this morning down here at one of the most influential boosters did not renew his luxury box at Royal Stadium plus Red McCombs want him gone. He's done.

If Strong doesn't get things fixed soon Texas drop farther than they are now. 15 years ago, kids playing HS ball were going to Texas, OU got 1 or 2 of the top 10, A&M may have gotten 1 of the top 10 and Texas got the rest of the top 25. Their recruiting class was done by June. According to Texas people, Mack got lazy, stop taking care of Texas HS coaches and kids started going to other schools. Right now Texas is no better than 5th in their state A&M, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech are all better and some might argue SMU, Rice and Houston would give them trouble. Strong hasn't been the recruiter Texas thought he would be and he certainly hasn't produced on the field results to keep them happy. He could make it to next year, but if they have the start next year that this one has been, he won't finish the season, starting a 4th is out of the question. Buying out his contract and firing him could be done by any one booster of many they have and he wouldn't blink an eye. He is a good DC, but hasn't done much as a head coach. If he gets fired at Texas, don't be shocked if he isn't in the SEC as a head coach.

If that is accurate, he's gone at the end of the season.

Only goes to show just how weak their conferences really were/are. The delusional UL fan base really had no clue. Get a few wins against cupcake teams and they were world beaters. Best sports comedy out there.

You can't spell delusional without UL.

Was the schedule tough...no....but his roster at Louisville produced 14 NFL Drafts picks over a two year period including 9 players from last year alone that were brought in by him...don't get it twisted...Texas had ZERO NFL Draft picks in 2014...the roster wasn't as stacked as the recruiting services predicted under Mack Brown...those losses for us left us extremely young on offense and that is why we are struggling this year.

Louisville's weak azz schedule has created a fools gold coaching mine. Howard Schnellenburger, John L Smith, Bobby "Harley" Petrino, and Charlie Strong have all looked like the next Bill Belichek at 2nd chance U. But once they actually start facing teams that dont read braille, the shine comes off of the fools gold.

You realize Petrino went to Back to Back Current New Years Six Bowl Games at Arkansas after he left Louisville/Atlanta right...so he was actually winning at a very good rate for the Razorbacks...

I wouldn't put Schnellenberger in the same category as those other UL clown coaches. He's legitimate. As for Strong, terrible hire by Texas which was obvious when it happened.

Howard S. definitely wasnt a clown like Petrino but he sure didnt last long at Oklahoma once he had to play teams with a pulse and talent.

How are his draft picks doing by the way? Twisted nothing, coaching is what we are talking about, don't get it confused.

Teddy Bridgewater-(Starter and 2014 ROTY)...Calvin Pryor-(Starter NY Jets), Jamon Brown-(Starter St. Louis Rams), John Miller-(Starter Buffalo Bills), Preston Brown-(Starter Buffalo Bills), Deiontrez Mount-(Backup Titans...got a INT opening weekend), Lorenzo Mauldin-(Injured Concussion while assisting on a Sack Opening Weekend NY Jets)...I could go on and on.

My point is Mack Brown really didn't leave a lot of talent...what he left was a lot of IMO entitled players that lived off their so-called HS Reps...again ZERO NFL Draft Picks from Mack Brown recruits in the 2015 NFL Draft....Louisville Charlie Strong players 9 and 13 in a two year period including 4 NFL 1st Rounders.

But the boosters in Austin aren't going to hear that and he will be gone IMO after the season...they already got rid of the person that hired him.

All those draft picks and Honest Bob got smoked in the fricking Belk Bowl. How did that possibly happen?

Starting to think Texas made a mistake but could be wrong. Didn't think CCS was ready a for big-time coaching job. More will be known after next season.
