Derryck Thornton has committed to Duke for 2015

This actually is awesome in its own way. Thornton likely wasn't coming here unless he stayed in 2016.

Duke is now out on Murray more than likely. They take someone we were not getting, and open the door for someone we would be fighting them over.

That should move us to the top of Jamal Murray's list. Here's to hoping he reclasses to 2015 as well.

Stinks that he's going to Duke and reclassifying, but I'm with several of you guys... I hope it means Murray to UK (and if he reclassified that would be awesome too!)

Derryck Thornton was UK's top point guard target in the class of 2016. Confident he would have been a Cat if he had stayed 2016.

I don't know that I necessarily agree with that.

First, there is no guarantee that he would have been a Cat (especially since he just picked Duke).

Second, we should be set at PG in 2016. I can't see both Ulis and Briscoe leaving for the NBA this year. (Although if they do, that means we had a really great season).

Third, if we do need to add a PG there will be options, potentially Jamal Murray, and then there is Kobi Simmons who is a combo that could play point.

Dook building some recruiting momentum. Even though Thornton wasn't on our "want list", you can see the added benefit of winning the Championship these days. With all their departures to the NBA, Dook should have been a fairly mediocre program next year. But, the bump they are getting in recruiting pretty much nullifies their anticipated downturn.

Thronton was on our want list, he visited here before dook and most folks thought at that point he was ours to loose. I aint trippin over this, dook will be good next year but theri bigs are weak.

If/when they get Ingram they will probably be pre-season #1.

Jeter, Kennard, Thornton, Ingram (if it happens) is a loaded class.

That blows. Not that we needed him, but that Duke's going to be good and the darlings again next year. Bleh.

They'll be good but lacking a good big man.

Yep no Okafor to save him next year. They will be good next year, no doubt, especially if they get Ingram. However, their interior game will be severely lacking. Will be almost completely reliant on perimeter shooting.

They have absolutely no physicality, won't be able to handle dribble penetration on the perimeter and have nothing inside- the same formula that led to early flameouts and getting past the Sweet 16 only twice in a decade.

This is what I was referring too with dUKe winning it this year with freshman.

My guess is they get Ingram too. The world sucks right now..:(

They will be relying on Marshall Plumlee (Yes it will be year 28 with a Plumlee on the roster) and Sean Obi. Some Duke fan said that Obi's post game is much better than Okafor's. I hope for his sake he was joking.

We get to play Duke this year in the Champions Classic. That should be a fun game, both teams will have very young rosters.

Exactly. They'll be talented, just like they always are, but they'll also be built for an early exit. Winslow and Okafor were their key pieces, and those don't come around often.

I would be quite happy to add Murray, Mulder, and Diallo to this class. Although we really could use Ingram too.

I would think they intend to have Jeter get the ball before Plumlee. He doesn't have as much weight on him though.

The few posts suggesting Duke won't be good remind me of last year. Wrong......

Is Jeter a 5? That's what I was referring to, but didn't really make clear. Ingram is stick thin, so he's unlikely to be banging down low.

Don't recall people saying Duke "wouldn't be good", after having the #1 class and returning experienced guys like Cook and Jefferson.

Whoever said that was fooling themselves. However, Duke excels and wins championships when they have good big men. Right now, they're lacking in that department.

I would like to have Murray but we already have 2 point guards (Ulis and Briscoe).

That's the one position I already feel good about.

One of the commentators on the NHS said that he isn't really a 1 or 2, just a guard that can do it all.
