Are we certain that the players are flipping and we are not pulling offers? I've not been able to follow the details and can't help but wonder if some of these could be UK's choice.

Why would Coach Stoops take a commitment from a kid, then pull the offer? And, if he did, wouldn't the kid say so? I highly doubt that a recruit would have an offer pulled to end up re-commiting to a higher profile school.

I would love to think that Coach Stoops has 8 guys ready to flip to UK tomorrow from big boy schools, I just don't see that happening. I hope I am wrong.

Flipping.

Riley is the only one they didn't fight too hard for. They like Allen.

Wells & Heuirs (sp?) were asked to go elsewhere in this UK class, doubt any of the others who have departed this month did so because we did not want them.

The only 1 of the recent guys they might have pulled an offer from is Riley. I don't think they did though, think it's more likely they were neutral about Riley and were fine either way with his decision.

This is a different way of looking at it and one day this may be the case, but in the current state of the program we don't have the luxury of pulling offers from any player. We have made strides in recruiting the last couple of years and correct me if I am wrong but don't high level kids flip their decision all the time? We aren't at the recruiting level of Bama or OSU but is this just something that comes with recruiting higher level (compared to Joker) players?

Facepalm, what jackass coach would pull a kids offer this close to signing day? You'd have to be a complete POS to pull that.

Petrino and Saban, to name a couple.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. I doubt this is really happening at this stage, other than to say I suppose they might not fight some of them if they feel they have a better card to play. However, were it to happen, for some substantial reason, so be it, especially if that reason is the knowledge that the kid is still looking, and you think you can take a commitment from a kid who is less indecisive. Nobody wants to wake up on NSD wondering whether 1/2 the class might flip just because they are fickle by nature.

Usually you pull offers if you are at or above your scholarship limit. We're 8-10 below our limit, and I don't know that we're replacing some of these guys with better players, so I have to imagine they are just flipping. Also, a good indicator is that these kids aren't going to lesser schools, but to better ones. So, they are taking a step up rather than getting their offer pulled and taking a step down.

I don't think this is happening at all. However I DO think the staff is recruiting some of the current "commitments" aren't so committed.

More hedging bets than pulling offers. Given the current recruiting atmosphere, who can blame them? This signing day will probably be the most unpredictable ever.

As an aside, I think there will be a shocking number of kids who wait till after signing day to commit. Theres just way too many kids waiting till tomorrow to commit. Itll cause dominoes to fall for at least a few days. Hopefully this isn't the future of recruiting. But it doesn't look good.

I'm not saying this is the case at all. Especially not the for all of them. However, if for example there are three kids that UK has a better option for. It is possible and not so slimy that UK has just not reached out to them lately etc... Therefore the situation is probably a little better than what we think.

Most are obviously flipping and there isn't much the staff can do to stop it. I do think that we will be pleasantly surprised with a few new names that will pop up on the board tomorrow. That being said I'm not fond of all of these de commits and the position its putting us in. It's becoming more and more imperative that we have a decent season and make a bowl game this year. It has to happen to get our momentum back on track. Hopefully all of the talented youth we've recruited and redshirted and that have some time in the system under their belts now, will help us reach that plateau. We have to make some noise this year.

Most of them flipped. A few had their offers pulled.

It is despicable on both sides. Coach rescinding or delaying offer or Kid flipping his commitment this close to signing day. Giving someone your word and then backing out on that word is a strike against your integrity and your character (say hello Bobby Petrino). Would rather not have kids come here who just backed out of a commitment elsewhere nor do I wish the kids well who committed here and then backed out on us at the last second. I wish them no harm at all but could really care less about whether or not they go on to be successful at their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice.

The dowell twins for example have now committed to what three different schools, maybe four I have lost count.

No one makes the coach offer nor does anyone force a kid to accept. There should be consequences for giving your commitment and then backing out of it on the side of the player and coaches/schools should not be allowed to do it period, unless there are extenuating circumstances on either side.

Just like college basketball players use to spend four years in college, some maybe three and now your lucky to get two out of them, the football recruiting is evolving. The de-comittment's are rising each year and this year seems to be off the charts ridiculous.
