Darius Adams... requests release from UCONN

Freshman really might need to go to some lesser programs or more desperate p5 schools (or schools willing to pay 4 or 5 mil like BYU and Duke). If I'm a college basketball program and I have $1 mil for a recruit, id much rather have the proven Junior transfer over the unknown freshman recruit, even if that freshman has a higher ceiling. You likely won't get completely burned by that Junior, but the freshman could be a total busy in his first year. And its not like you can keep them for a few years anymore.

If I'm Pope, I'm only recruiting top10.. everyone else I'm hitting the portal for. Let the I coming freshman class go elsewhere for a year and then we can pluck them when they prove something.
Unless they are a top 5, maybe Cooper Flaff type I am not sure I would waste any time recruiting Freshman anymore- crazy, crazy now as far as recruiting, NIL, transfer portal etc

Just too much money for an awful lot of risk, and the very real chance that you won't even tap into close their potential when they can transfer at will after 1 year.

You almost at this point would rather some other school to try them out first.

Jasper and Moreno are ky kids, could be more loyal, if they are not ky kids, they could choose different ways

If they weren't KY kids they would have already left probably. Moreno really gonna have to battle to get mins especially.

I dont blame the kid at uconn for leaving if he was promised one thing and then was recruited over. Prevents chemistry issues before the season by him leaving.

Yes, only fight for Top 10, do not care about any 10-30 range kids unless they are ky kids...

10-30 range usually are not good enough to be college star in year 1 but are very delusional and demanding

There are tons of guys from 10-30 who are huge contributors as freshmen every year. I mean, Duke had a guy who was 10-20 and another guy in the 50s who were starters all year.

Rob and Reed were in that range last year.

Brandon Miller at Bama the year before.

Just have to get the right guys. Sometimes those are HS kids between 10-30. Might not want to base all your success on those guys, but expecting them to be contributors is more than fine.

No team wants to be seen as not allowing a player to decommit if the request comes before the player ever arrives on campus. It could hurt future recruiting.
Exactly. They probably COULD say no, but they would look like major dicks if they did.

I’d be intrigued if Kentucky got involved honestly. He’s rated higher than Acaden Lewis and he’s known as a sweet jump shooter.

Good lord could you imagine being a college coach right now? What an absolute disaster the environment is right now. Also has a top HS recruit (outside of like a top 3 guy) ever been less important than now?
Could you imagine if Bobby Knight was around & coaching today & one of his players came into his office & said to Knight that they needed to rework his contract & that he wanted more money in his NIL contract. WOW talk about a thermonuclear meltdown. How awesome would that be

Should recruit hs guys either is 100% good enough to play a lot in day 1 or just bench warmer development pieces
