Dan Dakich Reporting Jeff Brohm to Louisville

No one will admit it but Brohm at UofL is bad for UK. The guy can coach, and if he’s bringing in pretty decent classes to Purdue I’m sure he’ll be doing the same (or likely better) at UofL. We’ll have the usual characters on here nitpicking every single one of his shortcomings in only two years at the dumpster fire that was Purdue, but I think deep down those people are worried because they know that the dude can coach. Anyone who says otherwise is either delusional or deeply biased. He’s an exciting young coach that can recruit. That’s not good news for UK fans, no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves that he’s the second coming of Joker Phillips.

Brohm scares me because he can recruit in the state better than anyone I've ever seen around here.

He gets kids from all over the state...not just Louisville...oh and he won't let any kid leave that city either.

They play us once a year...but we need those top in-state kids to make an impact.

Louisville is a commuter school.

No way we don't get who we want out of Louisville, regardless of who is the coach.

Agree with everything you say. The scary part is if he is good, he could stay for a loong time.

Why will no one admit it?

Because I’ve been around this fan base and message board long enough to know that when UofL or certain teams hire a good coach in any sport there are a whole lot of our fans that will try to convince themselves that the coach isn’t any good, or a fluke, or just got lucky, or they’ll go to extremes to nitpick the guy’s record in two years at Purdue of all places. I mean I’ve probably seen a dozen Jeff Brohm related threads on this board since the season started and they’re always about how terrible he is or his success is a fluke or how he’s overrated or something along those lines.

If Jeff comes to UofL at this time I'll be very surprised. I know he has a Cards pedigree but leaving the Purdue nowo_O. I remember when Oscar was their qb.!

Remember when people said Bobby at UL “skerd” them? Bobby was going to take UL to new heights and that would be awful for UK. He was going to dominate recruiting.

Why would UK fans be afraid of UL’s coach?

I think it is a fair assumption that most posters here who act scared are probably closet UL fans. LOL

Brohm will own Trinity recruiting, probably St. X too, no need to even bother trying. Wouldn't doubt if our coaches got shut out from even going there. I'll be nervous if he comes in and tries to flip Wandale Robinson at the last minute. He was rumored to Purdue at one point before the Nebraska stuff all picked up. WIll be interesting to see if Rondale Moore would follow him. He will obviously flip Milton Wright in a nanosecond. All this assuming Dakich is correct.

Hmmmm.

Wow, you have to feel for Rondale Moore. Flipped from Texas last second to be with Brohm. Now Brohm is ditching him. That's why I was confused Purdue was getting many higher level recruits. Was no-one telling these kids that Brohm will obviously be sought after by the bigger programs?

And we will likely get very little out of Louisville Recruiting wise now. He already got the top guy out of Louisville last year while at Purdue. So it's hard to see him losing out on Louisville kids while down the road at UofL.

Kind of sad how we question how loyal recruits/kids are to our programs. And question why so many kids flip. It's because they see the coaches doing the exact same thing. Why should we expect teens to be loyal when these grown men can't be?

Brohm will do well recruiting the state. Getting Louisville back to where they want will require dipping heavy down south.

Hey, he might already have pipelines brewing there, but we just wait and see.

Talk like this likely takes everything left out if Purdue.

Who cares UK doing pretty good right now. We need to get more explosive on offense but I'm hoping this class with a few young guys makes the offense more formidable next few years. If UK does not improve the offense we are not going to beat the good teams anyway so what Louisville does has very little impact. Good offensive players want to get the ball.

'm sure this is true, because they don't fire BP unless they knew they had something better lined up.

And make no mistake, this isn't good news for us. Dude is a legit very very good coach coming into his own and can recruit his ass off. Yep, this is bad bad bad

This is what lots of schools do that Kentucky doesn't do. As soon as there is a problem (Petrino going 2-8, losing players, not recruiting) they cut the cord and don't worry about buyouts etc, because they know that getting a good coach that builds up the program and wins games is the quickest way to make that money back.

Meanwhile, MB and Kentucky hang on to a coach (Joker) that everyone already knows can't hack it. And whats worse, MB and Kentucky hang on to that coach to the point of no return. What is happening at UL can be salvaged, theyre not too far gone. They are a couple of years removed from playing in big time bowls, having a heisman trophy winner, etc. So instead of allowing that to all be for not by hanging on to a coach that is going nowhere........boom, they cut ties and move on. And look what the reward is....Jeff Brohm, the hottest coach in the country.

Look, we're having an amazing year. We're staring 9-3 right dead in the eyes, but how confident is everyone about the future? We have an offense that features at least 3 players that will play on Sundays in Conrad, Benny, and Bowden and yet our play calling is as unimaginative as anything I've ever seen.

UL isn't waiting around to watch their football program get to a level that is beyond any fixing. Theyre addressing the problem right now. Whether its right or wrong, and whether it works out or doesn't, theyre not leaving it to chance. I'm afraid its going to work out well for them.

We have weapons on offense RIGHT NOW. And we don't take advantage.

What makes you think that anything will change?

Maybe he will transfer to us for payback. Haha

Are you female? What doesn't scare you ?

I think this is actually a very risky move for them. If he does well then it pays off. But they are spending a lot of money on a relatively unproven (albeit up and coming) coach. But being a Louisville native, if he fails where do you go from there? I suppose they feel the upside is worth it. But he has only been a head coach for 4 seasons 15-18. With two different programs. I don’t think he is a bad hire. But I am not convinced he is a home run either.

Nice...No I'm not a Female, and i'm not "scared" of Brohm, just stating facts that he could cause us problems with in-state recruiting. "Nervous" does not equate to "scared", it just means we might have to face the prospects of losing our best recruit to those cheating bastards.
